World's fastest man Usain Bolt set for Manchester United debut

It seems Usain Bolt's dream of playing for Manchester United football club is about to come true. Man U boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed yesterday that the world's fastest man could make an appearance for the club in a friendly match against Real Madrid next season. Ferguson told Inside United magazine:
"Usain’s a character and a big United fan. It's interesting he says he'd like to play in a charity game. It could be brilliant, and next year when we play Real Madrid's Legends again, there could be opportunities to bring him up and see how he does."

Running is different from kicking d ball, i think Sir Alex Fergie even knw dis but maybe bkos of a United fan dat he is and fact dat his desire to play 4 United and Sir Alex Fergie also wishes to grant him dis as an Honour too..... But most definitely, too much of Speed is not needed in Football dat evn professional footballers evn control their speed in order not to run faster than the ball, than their team mates, evn prevent running to †ђε dead end depending on the wing they play and most importantly to avoid hard tackle cos in Fball the faster u run, the more you prompt hard tackle and if tackled on high speed. its just like driving a car at 100km in 40/50 mins, God 4bid an accident we all knw how brutal that wud be.... All am tryna say is "There is speed limit in Fball"

Good 4 Bolt, that's a dream come through but e shud be very kiaful in term of Speeding# i dnt want to see him in such mess#

Shit post Linda

Let's assume his post on the field.

He can't be defender cos he's too tall, hence short opponents like Messi wud dribble pass him and he'll be prone to committing offences(fouls)

Too tall to be a midfielder due to height i.e long leg. Such midfield is collapsed cos e won't enjoy down ball cos e wud always hav access to the ball coming from the goal keeper, his side wud play volley ball just like bolton wanderers of those days

Definitely not good to top strike cos of speed but e cud hav upper hand in gaining the ball coming from flank( always to net the ball using his head cos he's got height to gain the ball in the air)

I think best position is to play from flank either 7 or 11 if e can use both legs( that's †ђε best position if e can control his speed and if e can make a good Square play) in this he'l be working for (not with but for) Van Persie and Rooney.... #from my own point of view#

Usain has all d qualities of a striker except that he doesn't play proffesional futball maybe that's y sir Alex is kipping him till next year 'make him no go score own goal'. But most importantly wat matters is dat Bolt's blood is RED like we United fans. I can't fit wait to watch him play wallahi

Nigerians! Always running their mouths. Usain played both cricket and football in primary and high school in Jamaica before settling for running. Unlike Nigeria, in Jamaica, from prep school, to primary to high school, we are required to do some form of sports. Most of these guys and girls are well rounded sports wise. Even if you are not very good at sports, its compulsory in schools in Jamaica.

good comments...my addition:

Running without pushing/kicking and maintaining course with a football is easy...In fact, it is free dash; Trying to ensure the football stays in line of course, using skills and trying to dribble with too much speed would be a nightmare for him....it could be mastered in the long run, but I think he wont get in and make a first good impression.

He'd apply speed when needed - in a stright line, mostly in counter attacks, but not where he needs to beat midfield pressure or pass, else, he would be a monopolistic player or a one man team. He could be hated for trying to do the trip alone.

While Usain could help the team, speed could be a disadvantage or a warrant to covet the ball for longer than necessary..
