Governor Fashola refuses chieftaincy title from Oba Oniru

Governor Fashola politely turned a chieftaincy title from the Oniru of Iru Land, Oba Abiodun Idowu Oniru, at the monarch's 75th birthday and 18th year coronation anniversary, which took place yesterday Saturday Sept 8th. The Lagos state governor said he couldn't accept any titles at this time so he could focus on his job as a governor. He said;
“Kabiyesi and his chiefs can continue to lead us, let them deal with all those traditional and chieftancy issues. At the appropriate time, we will come and join them, but for now, leave us in our suits, booths, overalls and helmets, because this agbada is not good for clearing refuse and tarring the roads.”

I like this guy abeg. Its people like him that should run for presidency. He seems like a man of integrity. Its not always about titles. Infact anybody can buy a title these days in Nigeria. I've seen illiterates that answer 'chief' and 'sir'. He is right to focus on the job at hand. As long as there is life, his time of honest chieftaincy title will come. Afterall, what is the point of answering 'Oba', if he has nothing to show for being the governor of Lagos state?

God will bless this man beyound every man's imagination.

My husband was just talking about some people that must have a title in front of their names at all cost, even if it is not given to them, they'll create one for themselves.

Sorry to disappoint u religious faggots! Fashola is a muslim to the core. What has d religion he practices got to do with anything? Pls let outgrow dis stupidity! Av we not seen so called xtians like cecilia Ibru, Akingbola and co! Are dey not deacon and deaconess in der church? Didn't dey distabilize the economy? Carrying industries in der personal accounts? Pls only an idiot ll talk about religious inclination in dis day and age in Nigeria. We need forward thinking leaders.

Thank you my Honorable Guv. You are exemplary. The Lord will stay your hand. It will only take a silly person to receive a post that is presently under you... Make GEJ hand over to you.. i beg take that one o..
Well done Sir.. Eko o ni baje o.

Not a stupid man then.... anyone who knows real Yoruba culture will tell you about the traditional sacrifice(s) that goes into obtaining a genuine title. As for my lineage, there is more to say than I can divulge except that we have chosen to serve only YHWH 'The I am that I am' and him alone. No title in the form of an initiation to a false god will suffice. This is the age of true awareness and choice we live in today. Be informed and never sell your future at whatever cost. Only Jesus saves.

i hope baba tinubu would learn from him

LOL at Unknown. Fashola is Muslim. What has being Christian got to do with it? FYI I'm Christian before you start to get defensive.

That's a man in the real sense of it........he knows the right thing to do and at the right time........thumbs up BRF!!!

Swits ur ryt abt his humility but ova dis issue I think wat's screaming clearly 4 me is his focus n discipline. Guys get dis- most of dis chieftaincy title tins r not given 4 notin. Wen u take it, dey get bak 4rm u sumhow. Dats y its no longer given 2 d biological nobles of d land but 2 those who hav a lot of cash power or influence. Kudos 2 him. My respect 4 him just went lyk 10 notches up

Bad sharp leader that is what i call a man of integrity he knows he does not need such for now.it would av been a distraction besides it can sway his sense of judgement wen it comes to land issues the oiniru knew wat he was doing by extending such and baba fash knew wat he was doing by rejecting such he is the best gift asiwaju gave lagoshains eko oni baje o
