Pastor Adeboye Feeds 50, 000 Worshippers, Splashes N150m on UI, UNN and Unilag

The pastor Adeboye led The Redeemed Christian Church of God, has once again proved its commitment to the welfare of humanity as they fed 50, 000 people with free food worth over N20m on Sunday June 5, 2011, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos. Each take away pack of jollof rice and beef coast N400 and 50, 000 packs were made available at the Fiesta. RCCG gave out the food via a program called A Can Can Make A Difference, which is a social welfare organ of the RCCG.

Also, although Pastor Adeboys's first love is the gospel, academics is also very important to him. And out of desire to empower the education sector, and as a means of giving back, he splashed N150m on three universities; Unilag, UNN, and UI to sponsor professorial chair in applied mathematics in those universities.

That don't change the fact that I see him as a business man.

I'd rather read this about him than politicians going to him to solicit for prayers.

that sounds lovely. linda thanks for showing that youre not biased (negatively) towards dese nig pastors by also putting up their good deeds.

SirTalk, a business man...fine but how many have you heard giving 150mill to our schools. That money, if used properly can make a difference. Why can't we ever give credit where it is due. The Church has tried, I wish my Church will do the same. Linda, thanks for putting this on your blog.

@Sir Talk, God will forgive you lol

Good job!

Feed a man with fish or teach him how to be a fisherman......

LOVE LOVE LOVE what Adeboye did!I hope he does more,he certainly has the resources! Its my life ambition to be empowered enough to help this amount of people and teach even more how to fend for and protect themselves.

A lot of people need urgent care and help in our country, :( lives lost needlessly, so I admire this act and I hope one day he also speaks about domestic violence and options for abused women who are also poor housewives(and abused men if any).

Great post, thanks for sharing Linda

im sorry but i dont see the rationale of giving out food for just a day, if they want to make a difference they should make it a monthly affair at least to give food to the poor,or even food stuffs, or baby food to poor lactating mothers, build orphanages, rehabilitate street kids, rehabilitate prostitutes, not this lacklustre failed PR attempt!
i am sorry but i think this is a PR spin off from all the private jet tales that have trailed him as well, this is called damage control!

God will bless you...Now I just hope that the money will be put to good use!

@anon 12:50 A Can can make a difference is a weekly affair in RCCG churches which is being rotated week by week by different churches. The fact that u r hearing about it doesnt mean that it just started. This has been going on now for over 8yrs if not more. Nigerians (esp. those abroad) are ready to crucify MOG even when they know they are making a difference. Geez... people learn to appreciate one another. @ Sirtalk before u say ur opinion abt any issue u dont know, get ur facts right & dont bring wrath upon yourself all in the name of freedom of speech.

For d first time Linda, am happy with u. Stop writing ONLY negative stuff about MOG. This will b d first time. Do this more instead on concentrating on other unimportant issues.

for those of you that do not know, the church is doing much more than those you read about. A wise man seldom speaks but fools talk endlessly, that is why a number of the things the church is involved in, it does discreetly. I am sure those that were fed that day are grateful for that meal, and their gratitude will ensure that they are blessed even more in future. If every man did the bit they could for their needy neighbour, the country will be better off. Before criticising him, do your bit as well.

@anon 12.50.
u obciously have no clue, so i will excuse your ignorance.

A CAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE"" the umbrella under which this was done, feed the poor and homeless at least once every month. there are various welfare programmes in RCCG that take care of people's medical bills/issues,rehabilitation of prostitutes, provison for prisoners etc etc.

contribute your own bit and stop castigating other pple's efforts. At the end of the day, we all have God to answer to.
how many lives have u impacted? reflect on this..

PR my foot!

i know this may come as a surprise to your shallow self but some people are investing in heaven! that is where their treasures are and that is where their hearts lie.

'some people are investing in heaven?' Tell me s'thing. So this pastor turned business man is investing in heaven with other people's money, na wa o! i guess that's what the private jet is for - to fly him to heaven right? i feel sorry for you man worshipers!

You guys need to be very careful when talking about men of God. Some of you just open your mouth without caution.
The truth is if any of you were millionaires/billionaires, you would never do half of what Pastor Adeboye did so if you have nothing good to say just keep shut!

@ Anonymous 12:13- he is doing just that- teaching people to fish by donating to SCHOOLS.

Very proud of him. God bless him.

teach him how to be a fisherman someone said? so while he is n fisherman school, he shouldn't eat? this was made public but the church does this all the time, not just feeding with cooked food (which people do need) but medical bills, school fees etc.
and mr sirtalk, a business man that does good should be appreciated.

anon12:50, stop exposing your ignorance online.if you don't know, ask questions.
RCCG does more philanthropy work than any organisation in this country and on a regular basis.I am not a member of that church, i have my issues with them but on this count the God of heaven applauds that local assembly.

there is never anything wrong in giving back!! Whether as fish or fisherman's net. Im not a member of RCCG but i commend this effort. Someone here said he is a business man....but he gives back. What would you say about business men like Aliko Dangote or Business women like Cecilia Ibru. How many times have you heard of their philantropic activities (if any?) Please RCCG ride on jare. The poor man on the street who saw a free plate of food that day isnt complaining.

RCCG's A CAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE is done weekly. Its an initiative that's for feeding prisoners, people in Hospitals and people who generally have it tough. Items like washing detergents, soap, deodorants, food, beverages and other provisions as well as clothes and use the opportunity to minister while spending time with the people they share with. Volunteers from churches give in cash, kind and also volunteer time to spend the day with the team. Its done every sunday and Churches rotate so every church may have the opportunity to go.
I just wnated to educate those who think it's a one off thing.

As for the donation of the money, all I can say is God bless the G.O of RCCG and God bless the church.
