My younger sister got married...

I was at my immediate younger sister's wedding yesterday. 'twas so depressing...:-(
Especially when people walk up to you and say 'don't worry, it's your turn next'
Bitch, did I tell you I was worried? What's with the 'emotional talk'?

OK, maybe I needed the talk...it's not the easiest thing to experience.
Oh well, they say it's my turn next...we shall see :-)

Happy Sunday everyone
Have a fab week ahead!

Oh, and happy married life to my beautiful sis, Edna, and her new husband, Nnaemeka Ndukwu.
Will bring you pictures in a bit...!

Now, let's wait for the comments...lol

u haven't found mr right. ur sister has. no big deal. i just think u shud employ tactics used by ur sisters (i know two of them r married) and maybe you'll find yours...u r not ugly...u r more beautiful than your sisters but marriage and love is more than physical beauty. u shud prob ask ur sisters for advice.maybe?

Just a joke dear.. u are a pretty girl, and am sure men might just be intimidated by ur swagger (lol). The year is not over yet, so there is a chance of a wedding bell in the air.

All d best

Congrtas to your sis!

It is normal, in my opinion to feel a little depressed, it doen't mean you wish your sister evil. That's just how you feel!

Opara Winfrey said...

Just a simple question people. Is it a must that we should all marry?

It's just a question oh!

Linda love, what type of guy or guys do u like or tend to go for?

Waiting for your response Linda.

Linda how can your sister's wedding be depressing???? if it was that depressing why were u annoyed that people were consoling you? abi what do you want us to say? seriously, if "not being married" is your biggest challenge then you need to wake up and set better goals. *rolls eyes

Well, when u say it was depressing to be at ur younger sister's wedding, u know pple are going to pick on that. I understand the pressure to get married in Nigeria sha! When it's time for u to get married, u will get married. No need to rush in and rush out. Take ur time and find the right person for you.

NINA said...

Is this your immediate younger sister? u seem to have a lot of sisters..how old is she? happy for her..ur turn will be next...u have the exposure, and seem kind of sensible..pray for the right man..not any loser on the streets..

skankmypeaceofmind said...

don't mind nigerian women who think that an unmarried woman is equivalent to an unhappy woman. It is true it is difficult to watch especially because its your baby sis that just walked down the aisle but that doesn't mean that you are jealous or unhappy or any of those things they've convinced themselves that you are.
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR SISTER.

and my dear you marry when the time is right for you. you being next or not doesn't matter. what matters is that when you do find that man you are happy with him and glad his yours.

Ajaero said...

oh sweets i never worry about u cos urs is going to happen in grand style so...
now u know what i am actually worried about? that YOU served us this gist only after it happened. actually im not worried, it only goes to say that you know when to keep things that ought to be secret secret. kudos darl. I LOVE YOU.
and congrats to edna too. she must rock, with a fab sister like u... :))

It can be annoying o jare! Whats that? A family friend finally got married today, the bobo came to do one small something sha and i just didn't have a moment of peace. Shoo! Being single is bodering on being a taboo these days.

Hey Lady,God's time is the best they say and like they say also,"it is better to be late than be late",so,no matter what be it earlier or later, the most important is getting your own and having your own is asking God,so,continue to ask Him and again let me chip this into your mind,"God is not yet ready to share you with another"!

Wishing your sister all of marital bliss and when God is ready for you,you will be a testimony to others, just keep it fixed on God and He will never disappoint you!
Happy Sunday!

Hun, they should all go and play in traffic (:-p during rush hour). You will marry when you are good and ready. It is not a crime for your little sis to marry before you. Na crime again, make everybody hold themselves. I actually applaud your parents for being open minded and letting the one who found love first marry. Linda because you celebrated your sister, You will be celebrated soon.

don't mind any body or group of people that says such thing 'don't worry, it's your turn next' i think it was irrelevant. nobody is God and his time best time for us in any thing we do as well. But My dear linda, to be honest, you are so beautiful. i would be the happiest man on earth if you can accept to be my life companion...plz don't get wrong. remain bless

I kinda understand you jare. i dont have a sister, but most of my friends are married. All my relatives are just acting like wow!!!! ur time is running out.
If i do anything nice for my yoruba aunties, then thier next prayer for me is: 'you must marry this year in Jesus name'. and of course if i show up at any family wedding, what i hear is 'Dont worry, your turn would soon come' and they say it with this very pitiful look on thier face........

Expecting the pictures girl!

Dear Linda, I can help. Yes, I can. I'm bidding my time to make a move on you. Worry not. It will be your turn next. Soon you'd say "I do" to SD, but your folks have to reduce the $1 trillion asking price - dowry, etc. Really. I spoke to your people, but, I will wait for the next 18 months' January Sales and make a final offer or wait for auction, then make a bid. What do you think, my Linda? The older you are, the cheaper I will get you. Ps, Linda, just to let you know now, I may, also, marry a few 18 year olds, but, you will always be my first wife.

I'm joking oooooohh :)

linda ur taste is too high, lower it and u'll get married soon.goodluck..

Surprise said...

Linda, you should not be surprised about the way they were praying for you. It is a normal thing. They are only showing their concerns for your 'agony' or 'plight'. They did not mean to depress you. Nigerians are known to be their brothers keepers.

Unknown said...

Dont mind them jare, its when they say it that u actually start thinking of ur life.
abeg dont let those sorry ass comments get to you.i know it aint sha.

Anonymous said...

please ignore them, some of my younger ones have children but we are still trusting God for some. everybody who wants to practice theology uses us as a test case to show how much of spiritual "power" they carry. very annoying especially when you know there is nothing wrong with the two of you and medically it has been proved. they make you feel like its your fault. just assume you didnt hear them well.

The anuahia shouting baby mama and daddy should gerrout. Don't be promoting trash biko. It is not a lifestyle that you enter into willingly o just incase you don't know.

Meanwhile, Linda babe. Make everybody siddon, you will marry when it is your time. Whether its end of year or end of the decade.

To Linda, next time will be your turn even this year. I am praying for you, you never can tell.

linda , pls dont get me wrong cause honestly , i mean well , but really are you being honest with yourself about why youre not married yet?
cause you cant tell me with how beautiful smart and nice you are , that men havent come up to you.
could it be that youre waiting for the perfect man to ride in on his gold plated ferrari ?
loll, jokes jokes , but you get what i mean

ROFLMAO. Nne, nothing do you. To hell with them all. Ain't nothing as sad as getting married for the rest of your life to the wrong person.

If love and marriage na your portion for this life, them go come at the RIGHT TIME!

busybee said...

that feeling? i know it well. it is well with you and i pray God fulfils his good and perfect will for ya but u gotta have realistic expectations too o! Happy Married Life to your sister

Anonymous said...

I've realised a few unbiased facts since getting married. Hope they're food for thought:

1) Being happy is YOUR decision. No man will fulfill your fantasies - yes especially those ones!
2) Being at peace with the Lord and living in full accordance with his will gives the greatest sense of liberty one can have
3)There will always be demands on you - after you get married, they'll start hounding your for babies. Yep!
4)Absolutely no man (naija or oyibo) wants his private matters in public. So if you're an intensely social/public person (especially on cyberspace), you'll almost definitely scare a good man away
5)Singlehood is not a bad state - it's a wonderful time to enjoy the bliss of no-stinky-nappies and the ability to sleep in on Saturdays

Linda, first and foremost a big congratulations to your sister, Edna on finding her mate and taking those vows before God and man. May her marriage be blessed, her children be blessed, her home be blesses, her finances be blessed, her health be blessed in Jesus name, amen!!!

Secondly, Remember, the patient dog eats the fattest bone. Be happy for those around you that have attained their dreams, God will bring your own in His own good time. Don't let people stir up in you the spirit of envy, jealousy, malice, bitterness, resentment, depression etc because all those things are blessing blockers, my dear. You have achieved more than most of those instigating people have ever dreamed of achieving in their lives, some of them, their biggest accomplishment as been that their marriage and some knuckle headed children that they don't even hug or kiss or spend time with in a day so I beg you, just live your life because though the grass is greener on the other side, it still has to be mowed!

I have been where you are, I am the second oldest of the girl cousins in my family and I had watched all my cousins get married with the exception of the baby who is 19. I have watched friends get married and some of those friends rubbed their marriages in my face thinking that they were better than me having escaped the dusty single shelf, did it hurt? Sure, but though it hurts, I never let bitterness creep into my heart, I used that time to INVEST in myself, to BETTER myself, to GET TO KNOW ME BETTER, I was never lacking in things to do, I hung out with my friends as well as solo, I travelled, I kept up with my family ongoings, I continued to pray and thank God for his mercies in my life, I thanked him for my husband, my children and my marriage as though I was already set in that situation. I thanked for my fabulous career, my financial independence, my health etc.

At 34, I met my lovely husband, we got engaged within 7 months, we got married a year to the day we met. God answers prayers.

You are just fine, mama and you will CONTINUE to be just fine!
