Chibok girls: Gov Shettima replies Asari Dokubo, calls him a jester

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has replied Asari Dokubo who has in recent times alleged that the missing Chibok girls is all a scam and the handiwork of the governor. In a statement by the Governor's spokesperson, Isa Gusau, Shettima described Dokubo as a jester who no serious minded Nigerian should take serious. The statement below...

"Governor Shettima is too serious minded to reply Asari Dokubo who is just a joker as most Nigerians regard him. As a onetime journalist covering the Niger Delta, I had come in direct contact with Asari when he organized a rally in support of late Gaddafi in Port Harcourt and also when he organized the 2011/2012 Isaac Boro lecture in Port Harcourt which he kept interrupting, taking over the microphone from people like respected lawyers like Festus Keyamo, intermittently speaking without protocol and without shame like a child. He is just a joke, no reasonable Nigerian takes him serious. He was reported saying Chibok abduction was a sham, I won’t be surprised if by next week the same Asari Dokubo leads another rally to counter the one he just held. Last year, Asari was reported speaking against Presidency, then he changed tune now we don’t know what happened but that is how he is, he uses the media for personal interest and some sort of blackmail." "I foresaw Borno state govt hand in girl's abduction" Primate Ayodele

Manchester United appoints Louis van Gaal as new manager

Manchester United has announced Louis van Gaal as its new manager. He succeeds David Moyes who lost his job in April. In a statement released this afternoon, the club said the 62 year old, who is currently Netherlands manager, will sign a three year contract with Manchester United.

Excited about his appointment, van Gaal said;

"It was always a wish for me to work in the Premier League. To work as a manager for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world makes me proud" he said.

Louis van Gaal will assume his new position with Man U after the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Police Press Release: Police avert another bomb blast in Kano

The Police in Kano today, 19^th May, 2014, about 9:00am averted what could have been another devastating bomb blast in the ancient city of Kano. Kano Police operatives, acting on intelligence, tracked and recovered a Mitsubishi Station Wagon car, ash in colour, with registration number Kano – AE 756 GSW loaded with assorted gas cylinders, one container of fuel and other electrical components of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The vehicle was recovered at Tafawa Balewa Street, Nasarawa area of Kano State and has since been rendered safe by Police Bomb Disposal experts.

Meanwhile, security agencies in Kano have commenced investigation into both the aborted blast as well as the last night bomb incident. Continue...

Stealing is not corruption, says ICPC Chairman

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta recently agreed to a statement made by President Jonathan during his May 4th media chat that, stealing is not corruption.

 

While addressing members of  the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, at the ICPC Headquarters' in Abuja, Mr Nta said there is a difference between stealing and corruption  and it is wrong to classify theft as corruption. He said that we should refer back to what we were taught about stealing and corruption in school

"Stealing is erroneously reported as corruption. We must go back to what we were taught at school to show that there are educated people in Nigeria. We must address issues as we were taught in school to do".

He likened the misunderstanding of stealing and corruption to the mindset of the ordinary Nigerian who believes a roadside mechanic is also an engineer. Really? These people are strange!!!

"I have never lied about this, I have never been 'a doing the cooking kind of woman'. When my husband met me, he knew. He was the one who used to do the cooking because he is good at it. I used to do the cooking when I felt like. Sometimes, it comes out to be a huge success and sometimes a failure. Some years ago, I cooked vegetables and it was terrible and my husband is such a gem, he ate it like that. It is not as if my mum didn't teach me. Nigerian Unemployed graduates to receive N19k monthly allowance?

That's what a committee at the on-going National Conference is suggesting...for all unemployed graduates in Nigeria to earn a monthly allowance equivalent to the allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps, which is N19,800.

Punch reports that the conference’s Committee on Law, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform made the recommendation but it can only fall through if it's accepted by the Federal Government.

A member of the committee said the recommendation was one of the ways the committee members felt that crime could be reduced in the country. He told Punch;

"The recommendation is our own way of finding solutions to the rising wave of crime in the country and to also force the government to do the needful for the increasing number of unemployed graduates in the country. We have done our part and it is left for the delegates to either reject or accept it at plenary.”

I have a feeling FG won't be interested in this. Who thinks it's a good idea?

'Devil child' scares the living daylight out of good samaritans who try to help her

Y'all need to watch this video. I haven't laughed this much in a while. It's hilarious. The video shows a young girl sitting on a bench late at night with her head in her hands, and she appears to be sobbing. Good Samaritans approach her to find out if she needs help and that's when she reveals her terrifying 'devil child' features which scares the living daylight out of the people who approached her. Adopted Son Of General Buhari Arrested Over N20million Scam

Mohammed Buhari, an adopted son of former Military Head of State and APC Chieftain Mohammdu Buhari has being arrested by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly defrauding a businesswoman, Mrs Florence Nwokocha, to the tune of N20million, Sahara Reporters reports.

According to SR, Mohammed, who was introduced to Mrs Nwokocha through his account officer at Ecobank, had promised Mrs Nwokocha 10% of annual profit from a supposed oil deal which she was made to invest N20m into. After receiving her money, Muhammed reportedly disappeared. When he was eventually arrested by the EFCC, Muhammed claimed he ran into trouble after losing bank guarantee which he secured from another new generation bank. He is currently in the custody of the EFCC.

Wedding of Christian girl who converted to Muslim called off

The wedding of Charity Uzoechina, the daughter of Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor, Raymond Uzoechima who converted to the Islam, has been called off by the Niger state Government.

She was supposed to be marrying her Muslim lawyer, Barr. Tijani when the wedding was called off.

Vanguard reports that the Governor of Niger state, Babangida Aliyu, where Charity now Aisha resides, ordered that the wedding to be stopped when he got information that the young lady's parents were not informed of her upcoming wedding. Imams and other Muslim clerics were already gathered when the wedding was called off. (her dad pictured above).

The National body of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) had through its Niger state Chapter Chairman, Dr Musa Dada, informed the State's Commissioner on Religious Matters and the Attorney General of the state, about the upcoming wedding between Aisha and Barrister Tijani who stood in as her lawyer when she sued her parents for interfering in her decision to change religion.

Charity now Aisha converted from her Christian fate to the Muslim fate in Feb 2013. She has since been in the custody of the state government, residing with the deputy Governor, Alhaji Musa Ibeto.

I have been with my girlfriend for nine and a half years. We have been through so much together and the plan was to get married before this year ends. But something happened to me. I met someone else and she made me feel things I didn't know I was capable of feeling. I am madly, and deeply in love with this woman I met only last year November and I have no doubts she's my soul mate and the person I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with. The only problem is the lady who's given me her all for over nine years. I feel guilty leaving her, but should I be with a woman just out of guilt? After nine years, there's nothing new here, nothing exciting anymore. We've lived together, we've had a kid, we've laughed, we've cried, we've fought, we've made money, lost money, the next step was marriage but then I met this woman and she literally stole my heart. I know my girlfriend's friends will laugh at her if I leave her and marry someone else as they have been asking her for years why she hasn't been able to get me to put a ring on her finger, but should stay with her out of pity when my heart is somewhere else? I'm lost!

Man, 28, allegedly murders girlfriend in Rivers state

A 28 year old man identified as Ahamehule Chukwu, a resident of Eliozu community, in Obio/ Akpor LGA of Rivers State has been arrested by officers of the Rivers State Police Command, for allegedly
murdering his 21-yearold girl friend identified as Ifeayinwa Ani.

40 feared killed as Boko Haram invades another Borno village

At least 40 villagers were killed and several others injured yesterday Saturday May 17th as Boko Haram gunmen attacked Dalwa-Masuba village in Damboa LGA of Borno State, Premium Times reports.

Security sources and a witness said the gunmen stormed the village in large numbers and burnt down virtually all buildings in the village as well as three pickup vans carrying woods to Damboa.

A member of the vigilante in Dalwa-Masuba, who spoke to journalists in Maiduguri on phone, said no security personnel had reached the attacked town at the time he was speaking. “We were on patrol somewhere near Damboa when we heard about the attack from some of the villagers who ran from the village”, said the source. “We had to drive to the town on our patrol van; we met the entire village on fire, and about 40 persons dead, there were bodies all over the place; three firewood pickups were also set ablaze.”
