Taraba state governorship election petition tribunal has
declared APC's Aisha Alhassan as the elected governor in the April 11th
governorship election. The tribunal has sacked PDP's Darius Ishaka as governor of the state. Aisha
Alhassan becomes the first female elected governor in Nigeria.

Mama Taraba was declared the winner because she had more votes than the incumbent governor.Rather it was the opinion of the tribunal that PDP did not conduct a valid thereby denying the party opportunity of fielding candidate at the last election. The election of PDP was not annulled because it was rigged.
