The leaders agreed to set up a delegation of Igbo elders to meet President Muhammadu Buhari on the marginalisation of Igbos in the country.
They also agreed to talk with members of the MASSOB and IPOB groups in order to discourage them from having any more protests.
However, the two factions of Ohanaeze were not invited to the meeting because the governors reasoned that inviting any of them would mean legitimising such faction.
A four-point communique read by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, at the end of the meeting on behalf of his colleagues read:
“We agreed that south-east governors should set up a committee to immediately address the impasse on Ohanaeze leadership. After a compassionate review of the recent MASSOB/IPOB agitations in the country, it was resolved that a committee be set up to dialogue with MASSOB,IPOB as well as the Federal Government with a view to finding a lasting solution to the issue.
“The elders also examined other issues including poor state of infrastructural facilities in the south-east, marginalization in federal appointments and other socio-economic issues that impact on the economic development of the south-east and resolved to support the decision of south-east governors to set up an economic council and urged them to interface with the Federal Government on remedial measures. A delegation of elders of the south-east was mandated to meet with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”Governor Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwanyi of Enugu State, said the meeting was a follow up to the earlier meeting of the South- East governors on November 17.
He said:
The meeting is a follow up to the meeting of the SEGF that we held last Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in this venue during which we reached the following resolutions on some issues affecting us as a zone; To appoint a high level Economic Advisory Committee to harness the economic potentials of the people of the South East working together. The governors are concerned about the poor state of the Federal Government roads in the zone namely the Enugu – Onitsha, Aba- Ikot Ekpene , Owerri – Port Harcourt, Enugu – Port Harcourt, among others which need urgent intervention by the Federal Government.
“On security, the issue of MASSOB/ IPOB, was discussed and they resolved to consult widely with Ohanaeze (Ndigbo), traditional rulers, development unions, clergy, and other stakeholders on how to ensure lasting peace in the zone. In furtherance to this, the South East Governors scheduled an emergency meeting of stakeholders on Sunday, November 22, 2015, (yesterday) at Enugu.
“Attendance to the emergency meeting includes all National Assembly members, all honourable ministers and other invited stakeholders from the zone. The governors advised MASSOB/IPOB to continue to toe the line of peace as this is the only way to ensure economic development of the zone. We are therefore, here to discuss matters arising from these resolutions and other issues that are of interest to the zone. We ask God to guide and direct our thoughts as we go through this function and I wish us all, happy and fruitful deliberations.

Absolutely nothing fruitful will come out of this meeting. Just a waste of time. All Buhari need to do to keep them silent is a nice 'back hand' ( money). They can kill their kindred for money. Oh yes! You can come for me- my husband is Igbo & who cares. Igbo people can kill for money.
Ok very good.
Pls just go,what marginalization are u always being marginalized what kind of self entitled people are you na only una Waka come, abeg gerrarhia
Igbos, whatever you do don't listen to Rochas, he is a saboteur. He will sell us out.

Dats d way forward. Better platform.
i knew they are wasting their time, the protest is not a marginalization thing. Is who we want to be Biafrans. We want a referendum.
In orda 2 avoid more protest dey shld provide job
hmmmmm
Important questions need be asked to the south easterners. 1) Have the FG withheld the federal allocation apportioned to the SE? if yes they should point out when and under which administration. If No, then 2) What happened to the federal allocation the SE has been receiving from the FG. 3) Had the received allocation been put to judicious use, would there be such a level of infrastructural decay in that zone?
If anyone need to account for the under-development of the SE it is no one but the leaders of the SE. The SE marginalized itself through its leaders' greed and looting.
All these politically motivated pro-biafra agitation is a decoy to distract the public and the FG from cleaning up the decayed system inflicted by politicians of past adminstrations. The SE would realize the senselessness in this gimmick it has embarked upon when the FG is forced to either declare a state of emergency on the SE to maintain law and order, or let them breakaway through a referrendum. If the leaders of the SE did little or nothing to foster the development of that region within the Nigerian federation, what's the guarantee they would do otherwise in a Biafran nation with little or no structured organisation, governance and means of national revenue. Biafra is another south-sudan waiting to happen.
If I were PMB I would tell them to go home and fix it then come back to the table for talks!
Ok now, na now morning come for their door? Good one sha!
They talk about being marginalized and yet they marginalized within the igbo community. Enough of this biafra nonesense abeg.
ABEG HOPE THEY HAVE REMOVED SOUTH SOUTH FROM THEIR BIAFRA NONSENSE. BUHARI IF YOU ARE READING THIS, PLS SOUTH SOUTH IS NOT PART OF THEM
All states in Nigeria have thesame problem of poor roads, lack of infrastructure etc. It is not only South East that is suffering this. So what is their problem? Abeg make them pack

They did not vote for the man na. So why are they looking for federal appoitments? They should tell their governors to give them appointments
Why didnt they see Jonathan during his administration on the issues of poor road and infrastructure? Why are they waiting Buhari to do everything for them? Somebody that they did not vote for. Hissssssssssss

They should go and ask Jonathan and their governors about federal allocation that was sqandered during Jonathan's administration because of greed and looting. They should leave Buhari out of it. Buhari has better things to think about than focus on problems of South East

Are they the only ones that have road and infrastructure problem? Every state in Nigeria has thesame problem. So why should theirs be special?
God bless you for speaking my mind
Make them go ask past administration watin happen to federal allocation. That is not Buhari's business. Buhari has better things like boko-haram, fuel, electricity, unemployment etc to think about. Problems with South East is the least of Buhari's problems right now if you ask me.

They did not vote for Buhari. So why are they looking for appointments at the federal level. They should look for appointments at the state level. Go and ask your governors that u voted for to give u appointments at the state level. Next time, vote wisely

You've never sounded reasonable anyways.
