Fuel scarcity: Senator wants Buhari to be summoned

Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, a PDP senator representing Abia South in the senate today asked that the House summon President Buhari who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum resources to come and explain why there's fuel scarcity in the country right now.

Abaribe said that since Buhari is the Minister in charge of Nigeria's Petroleum resources, he should be made to answer all questions bothering on that sector.
President Buhari and the state Minister for Petroleum resources Ibe Kachiukwu are currently in Iran attending the 3rd Gas Exporting Countries' Forum (GECF). They are however expected back to the country today November 24th.

No wahala. He will appear before them...as if they don't know why there is scarcity. Ask Conoil and co. why they have been hoarding millions of litres of petroleum in their depots.

This same fuel scarcity disrupted boko-haram operations. The boko-haram suspects explained how fuel scarcity stopped them from carrying out their operations in court today. The scarcity is a blessing in disguise kind of.

I am yet to admit that we still have such negative minded people in the change call for a better nigeria. How can such a person in such an office be saying all that when he is meant to be working together with others to see a way through the remaining problems of marketers of the product. Let this man keep low and watch if he has nothing to offer as we Nigerians are no more interested in listening but action and change. Respect yourself if you want same from Nigerians.

Was Jonathan minister of petroleum??? Did anybody tell this great grand father to become minister of petroleum as well as president. A 75 year old man. Who is greedy nw? Please knock your self out if you have ntn to say.

gentle said...

Which boss? He is summoning the minister of petroleum. It's idiots like you that give me hope that one day nigeria will separate. You guys so easily like serving someone and seeing the person as your lord and master. Please grow some balls or die in servitude. The president is the minister of petroleum, and he is sooooo accountable for anything going wrong now.

Unknown said...

Jonathan was not minister of petroleum, no sentiments here

Anonymous said...

he's being summoned as petroleum minister not as president. so he should defend the office he is occupying.

Ladies/Gentlemen, this is not about APC or PDP but about an entity that is greater than both parties; "Nigeria and Nigerians". The fuel scarcity has been persistent for about 2 weeks now and it's not showing signs of letting up. All efforts of the Minister of state Kachikwu to resolve this is not yielding much. Petrol Stations are still hoarding fuel and selling at N170 to N250 and above. The common man is suffering. Transportation has gone up and this directly translates to a higher cost of food and living.
Now if a section of the economy or a ministry is failing in it's duties, the leader or head of the ministry is called to explain why this is happening and their plans of correcting the situation. PMB as the head of the petroleum ministry SHOULD be called to explain why the scarcity is so persistent and also be given the chance to explain what his plans are to alleviate the sufferings of the common man due to this crises in the sector he is directly overseeing. All sentiments put aside, the aim is to improve the living standards of Nigerians.
