Man who slumped while jogging in Lagos yesterday has died

Remember the man who slumped while jugging along Stepping Stone bus stop in Satellite town Lagos yesterday morning? (read here). The man has died. A close family friend said the man, who has been identified as Sunny Enebong, died yesterday. He probably suffered a heart attack but didn't get help in time because instead of calling an ambulance, passersby surrounded him and was just staring at him. So sad. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Don't know what our world is gradually turning into, instead of people helping accident victims, they chose to standby and take pictures that will be uploaded on social media.

People need to learn to act instead of standing by. The government or some people should educate the masses on simple first aid methods and #CPR

An okada rider had an accident, a keke man decided to help. The okada rider died along the way, the keke man stopped, threw out his body on the road and left him dere.

What's wrong with people, they stood starring instead of taking him to the hospital. His life may have been saved if the people around had acted. May his soul rest in peace

I don't understand why lagosIans choose to stop and stare. Even if you can't help, find someone who can Jesus. I've been in this same situation and I ran to find the nearest person to come check on the man. Simple. What will it take out of anyone. And to think the building they are standing in front of has blood of Jesus at the top. The painful irony.
And people need to be trained in first aid mehn. Urgh! Preventable shit like this just annoys my soul. May he rest in peace.

The passerby are murderers and most Nigerians are generally heartless to their fellow Nigerians.
And you Linda, stop posting graphic imagines that destroys us as a people online.
You've got power, teach our dull head journalists how it should be done.

Unknown said...

I think everyone needs to take a CPR class in Nigeria. This could have been averted if those passersby know what to do. May his soul rest in peace.

Anonymous said...

We should stop this in this country, watching incident and we can assist.

People don't bother touching or helping individuals like this again especially in Nigeria since the Ebola disease struck. I pray they don't get into this kind of trouble and have people watch them as they die!

Linda, I hope you get to read this. I think you could do Nigerians a favor by doing a short video or story perhaps in conjunction with Road Safety on how to respond Emergencies. Nigerians don't know how to respond to emergencies and it makes it appear as if they are evil...just standing and looking. where is the humanity? So perhaps if you can get to teach people what they need to do or who to call it could change things...Linda, Be A Hero

So in Nigeria people don't know how to perform CPR to save fellow human being? Children in daycare in US will show u how to perform CPR to save life. Healthcare workers in Nigeria start to educate the public on live saving skills.

Linda to u, use your blog to educative people and not showing egg plant. Very irritating. If u like post my comment.

Shalom in Nigeria, Amen

Pls I urge everyone to go to YouTube or Google to learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). It will save you and your family members when they are in this kind of situation.

Shalom in Nigeria, Amen

This saying is soon becoming a National Anthemn
Ministry of Health where r you?
Ministry of Information how far?
Simply things like CPR can be taught in different languages and sent through the social media.

And he died out of negligence. May his soul RIP.

See stupid onlookers. A failed socirty! No common sense. No first aid skills, no effort.
Thank God for me, I was jogging last week, a distance I used to run 6 times but just once last week I almost collapsed. I had to pray my way home. I discovered I had malaria. Please, when you start exercise and you feel uncomfortable or unusual. Abort. Na God save me!

Illiterate Y#####a Nigerians. Na to talk, make mouth they know how to do. No action.

This is how people die a careless death in ds country. If only we had emergency hot lines instilled into our memories like d whites, someone would hv called an ambulance. Tsheww

This why I am so passionate about teaching basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills. They just stood by with no clue of what to do.

It's not as easy as you guys are saying it,in this our country, anything can happen oo,you might even be on the way to the hospital and the man dies and before you know it police sy you killed him or he might even be pretending and while trying to help you disappear, Abeg we gat to learn our lesson ooo, some people might even be on their way to work sef,God should help us oo

Really sad that most Nigerians prefer to take bizarre pictures and videos instead of offering simple help to a dying man. Sad!

Unknown said...

I knew it, our pple r so bad dat dey can stop 2 stare n snap bt can't stop 2 help, really bad. Rip 2 him

Anonymous said...

Anon 3:02pm, sad but you are right. That is why legislation is key. In the states, they have something called the "Good Samaritan" law, where if a passerby/random person is proven to attempt to help someone in distress or administer something like CPR for example, they are pretty much held harmless for any liability. i.e. If the victim still ends up dying, the law covers them from being charged.

When people go on and on at how moral/religious we are, I call attention to the blatant general disregard for human life in our society. I've seen dead bodies on 3ML, on Osborne laying there for hours. Different stories of how someone just stabbed someone because he took his seat. How a woman poured acid on another or worse still using children for human sacrifice. Zero compassionate!

Unknown said...

Even u nd I know if they saw d dead man in is keke he is finished it's nigeria d problem has a deep root and don't blame the keke man Becos no one wil belive him then i.fact Linda wud take it as they found a dead man in keke
