As IG he sure does have more pressing issues to attend to that will benefit Nigerians. Traffic control is one of the least issues which he can assign to his subordinates and they'll do well handling it.
Its so hard to impress Nigerians. This man comes across like a very humble person and in terms of discipline he' s one of the best IG of police i've seen in Nigeria(Check even from how flat his stomach is, LoL). But seriously for whatever reason, @least he dropped his pride even if it was for a few seconds .This is Nigeria and we'all know how highly placed people behave...Not everyone would do this no matter what,so i respect him for this

the problem with social media is that the uneducated, young and reckless, stupid,ignorant, shallow minded, unenlightened, in fact all sorts of riff raffs can comment. this was done as a moral boost to the traffic wardens, support even the lowest ranking officer so everyone in your organisation will have a sense of belonging.
