Photo: Borno state Gov in tears as he declares 3-day fast for missing girls

Borno State governor Kashim Shettima was in tears yesterday as he appealed to indigenes of the state to embark on a 3-day fast for the missing Chibok girls. The proposed fasting, which will run from May12th - 14th, is to seek the face of God over the missing girls and for peace to return to the state.

The Governor got very emotional while in a meeting with the Kibaku Area Development Association (KADA), Chibok, who came to protest the abduction of the missing girls.

“We are calling on all Muslims and Christians to embark on a three-day fast to seek God’s help toward rescuing our girls. All of us must fast because we worship the same God. There is no politics or religious issues in this matter because the abduction of the girls is something that should bother us all as parents, uncles and guardians" he said
The governor also expressed shock that some individuals believe the kidnap never happened, and is all a scam "It is unthinkable for anyone to say such a story could be fabricated." He said

Naija, here we see the power of information to deliberately or not guide our thoughts and actions per time, our very consciousness is based on what we are fed constantly with and it could of course be cosistent with or dangerously contradict our present realities, much as we run with the available info due to our non apetite for intuitive and quality learning our journalists are then saddled with providing investigative journalism and making sure the populace trend with burning issues at hand, a good example would be Linda's efforts on the Aluu 4 issue, and recently the bring back our girlss issue, also a good example for the former would be displaying celebrity watches and clothes/cars when 200 or more girls were kidnapped the previous day and the populace are able to trend easily and convincingly with it, much as financial motivation cannot be ruled out of life actions, there is a clarion call to a few that would provide solutions to our national problems in times like these.

You are an intelligent man. I am shocked at those who say they are just hearing from him, the man was first to visit Chibok and has been doing so much but I guess tribalism and intolerance takes the place of reasoning in todays Nigeria

Anonymous said...

Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, today paid a visit to the Girls Government College, Chibok, where over 200 girls were abducted on April 14th, to have an on-the-spot assessment of the attack

While in the school, parents of the missing students told the governor that contrary to media reports that 129 girls were abducted, that the actual number is 234. They said the 129 girls earlier reported were science students who were in the school writing their WAEC exams, while the remaining 106 students were Arts students who were at their hostels when the attackers arrived.

182 of the girls are still missing while 52 of them have escaped from the Boko haram den. See more photos below
http://www.informationng.com/2014/04/photos-borno-governor-visits-school-where-200-girls-were-abducted.html

The man has been on this immediately it happened. People wont read but will stay and be spreading cheap sensational lies

Anonymous said...

Several days after Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State visited Chibok, precisely on April 21, no news has since been heard on the remaining students.

Shettima visited Chibok last week amidst tight security, where the parents of the abducted girls told him that over 200 of their daughters were still missing.

This is as former Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon, has said that the serious security challenges in Nigeria cannot be perpetrated by ordinary cattle rearers, but by disgruntled elements.

Investigation has shown that the reason for the foot-dragging in search of these female students may not be unconnected with the recent warning threat given by the abductors that both the security operatives and the people of Chibok should stop looking for the kidnapped girls, otherwise they would be killed.

With this development, therefore, the situation has became more worrisome and disturbing not only on the side of the victims’ parents, but also on the side of Shettima, who has described the last one week as his most troubling moment since he took over the mantle of leadership in May 2011.

It would be recalled that the Borno State government had earlier closed all the schools in the state in order to avert insurgent attacks.

But in Chibok, the case was difference simply because, the community opposed the idea of government closing the schools in the area, assuring of adequate protection of the school and students.

But, what is more worrisome is that since the abduction of those girls, both the principal of the school and the Commissioner of Education, Borno State, could not ascertain vividly the actual number of female students in GSS, Chibok.

As it is now, there is still conflicting figures on the number of students abducted by the dreaded Boko Haram and the total number of students in the school before the kidnapping saga.

Also, in the same vein, it was learnt that, a weak before the Chibok episode, similar incident would have happened in Dikwa Local Government area of the state, where the sect group went to a school with the intention to kill all the male students and probably kidnap the female ones, but unfortunately to the attackers, no single student was in school as at the time they came, because of security report was earlier given.

But still, Boko Haram went ahead and slaughtered some of the teachers in the school.

Observations have shown that, many parents, especially the non-natives, have since relocated their children from Borno State to other safer states because of the unabated insecurity challenges.

Meanwhile, there is confusion among some parents that has children in government secondary Schools as to whether their children will return to school next week following the attack launched by unknown gunmen at Government Girls Secondary Schoool, Yana, in Shira Local Governemnt Area in Bauchi State last week.

It was reported that unknown gunmen attacked GGSS, Yana, on April 22, and destroyed part of the buildings and vehicles, as well as other properties in the state.

Some parents who spoke to Sunday Independent on the issue, expressed fear of sending their children back to school. especially the girls, following the abduction of students in Chibok Governemt Girls Secondary School, Brono State, and the attack on GGSS, Yana.

According to Mrs Elizabeth Ali, a resident of Yelwa Makaranta, a suburb of Bauchi Metropolisis, “I have three children in government school and I am afraid as the school will resume next week Monday, because of the recent incidents.

“I want appeal to state government to provide adequate security for our children in school so that they will not be attacked

I'm still trying to comprehend the fact that northern leaders are just begining to speak up now and show corncern on this matter, but the one that beats my imagination the most, is this state Governor himself. If a man's house is on fire shouldn't he be the first to cry out for help, after 3weeks of chaos, you are just showing concern over what has been happening in your own state. Simply because they've now given you the go ahead to do so. we aren't fools, I really don't blame those saying there was no abduction cos you aren't giving anyone the reason to believe there was.....FYI we christians had been fasting and praying on this. Ever since it started so pls don't give us that three days fasting and prayer crap..you think God is a respecter of person? he will surely bring all that is done in the secret to the open on this matter, including yourself sir. I can see how bothered u've been about the abduction since it happened. I strongly believe and also, the level of complacency u've displayed shows that u are a party to this simple. #bringbackourgirls#

THE FALSE CAUSE
by Mbah Chukwuemeka on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 1:47pm

Elite few for their political reasons & scheming
in deception drew many feeble fellows with a tint of religious emotion
Men who do evil in the name of good and serve the devil in the name of God
Wonder why we would worship deities if we have to protect them and defend their cause
and their feeble faithfuls faithfully fan a false cause
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm

You claimed to be anti western education
But you are pro western technology & ammunition
fruits of a failed marriage, the abomination of amalgamation
Men of customized violence & signature blood shed
Lo you've turned a green land red
survivors who once bled are now dead
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm

You claimed your problem was the government
But you bombed the unarmed and innocent
I felt I knew of a place you'll never raze or dent
Too many Mosquitoes standing untouched and fat
Yet you set ablaze a moving Church rat
Which heavens do you connect from your mat
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm

Some Say you are fanatical and political
Others say your cause is unrealistic, cannibalistic & tribalistic
Whatever the case, I loathe your bloody passion & fashion
You smoked to ashes mother and child
and returned untimely to dust a groom and his bride
Yet some keep mum, others speak in tongues tender and mild
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm

You double the woes of the Niger-area
and in your folly, threw stones at the market square
You've lost some of your own and soon to be deserted alone
Imagine the opportunities lost at a senseless cost
In my mother-tongue, I bid you to end this wrong
Boko Haram
Biko Hara'm

I have had this burden borne like a laden camel
it is true our beliefs differ in Isaac and Ishmael
Yet i entreat you in the name of our father Abraham
Let folks flock in your pastures without fear of harm
For infected with dirge is my song that is sung
True we do not share a common tongue
But its crystal clear we share a common skin
The victims of your transferred aggression ask 'What is our sin?'
are we the government or the western education so forbidden?
Sheet your explosive swords and let words detonate from your mouth
Remember the support and base of every North is a supplying South

I don't know what some people have been taught about Christianity in their churches, if any clergy men were allegedly accused of wrong doings, some bigot Nigerians as usual would hide under the verses of bible and started quoting "Judge Not", it is better for everyone of you to go back to their scriptures either Bible or Quran and re-read the verses that quoted "false allegation" without having anything evidence to back it up. It is really a big sin if you people do not know.

I do not believe a 3-days fast is the best solution but a more practical solution should be implemented.I still find it curious why major Islamic scholars in Nigeria have not raised their voices against this boko-haram scourge. Talking from my point of view as a fellow Muslim, these people are just soiling the name of Islam in vain when all they pursue is their personal interest. All their actions till date have been contradictory to the teachings of Islam. I would like to urge all Muslims to please raise their voice against Boko-haram and say #Bokoharamisnotislam.

No Mr Governor, we don't worship the same God- it is in the name of your God Allah these insane drug addicts are wrecking havoc on the country, pillaging their way around and killing people in the name of wanting to bring Islamic rule all over Nigeria. What has happened to all that money that the federal government has been pouring into Borno for years and yet the governors there seem to have done nothing to improve the lives of the people there??? At least in the Niger Delta, the militants there had real grievances but they were not killing people and they were certainly not interested in wanting to spread Christianity all over Nigeria on unwilling people- see, Mr Governor? That is the difference between my God and yours. Mine preach love, respect and compassion for ALL but yours preach a message of Jihad!! I will pray to my God to rescue these brave girls while you can fast and pray to Allah all you want. It is you and your friends in Abuja who are responsible for all that has happened

Insincere tears. This is politically motivated. Borno state governor knows a lot he is yet to tell us. How come Borno elders suddenly agrees to a negotiation. Well, highly skiled inteligent officers r in town. We will fish out those behind this

Commentators here should fear God, whatever their religion. They shd try & eschew tribalism or religious bigotry. The fact that the man is Hausa and Muslim does not make him less human. If you think otherwise, then maybe you are less human. This gov met with GEJ and pleaded for more security, stating that it seems the BH guys were more motivated, we Southerners shouted him down as talking rubbish; even GEJ threatened to withdraw the soldiers. He has visited Chibok and still pleaded for more assistance from GEJ which has not been forthcoming. Please read his interview before commenting. Note also that this man does not control the army or police. If he is playing games, shdnt the President unravel it? Pls note that this suffering does not know tribe or religion. If you have giving up on changing this country for your own sake, at least thinking of changing it for the sake of you children. This hatred against anything Northern is irritating

Revealing their incompetence. If he could cry over this incidence then it would be noble to resign and allow someone who can do it to occupy the post. Bunch of mediocres.

I believe that God did not create Nigeria but the British did,The only solution is to divide Nigeria so that this so called northern will go fight themselves and bring their own souls to their Allah
