church's stance against them marrying outside their faith. According to
Jehovah's Witness' doctrine, members of the church are to only marry
themselves and not from any other Christian faith. If they do, it's

Confirming the church's position to PM News, an elder
in the church, Elder James Etop, says the church's position is in
accordance with biblical instructions. He said that if members are
allowed to marry anyhow their faith would be affected. He said the
teachings from other churches are different from the ones they have and
so they try to protect their members from being affected. He took the
case of heaven and earth teaching as an example
"For instance, there is nothing like hell fire as propagated in many churches. Hell fire was mentioned just as an illustration by Jesus Christ when He was saying the parable of Lazarus and the rich man in the Bible. If a member marries such a person who believes in such doctrines which is against the teaching of the Witness, it will definitely affect his or her faith.” he said.
According to Etop, members are not literally compelled
to marry one another but if they marry outside of the church, the church would not honor such a
union or an invitation to the wedding ceremony.

I am a Jehovah witness and my brother married a woman who goes to redeem church, and a lot of elders and other witnesses were at the wedding ceremony. And they have been married for over 10yrs, he respects her belief and she respects he's, and they are both fine. So this story about condemning those who marry outsiders is just far-fetched. Witnesses don't do that, instead they try to preach to the person of a different faith. Please do not mis-interprete our doctrines... pls. Thank you.

No 1, Jehovah's witnesses do not operate a 'church'. No 2, The members are not forced into marriage to another member. They are only adviced and encouraged so that thhe couple can be those who share the same faith and belief.
No 3, Those "decrying marriage restriction" are free to marry whomever they choose. Nobody is stopping them. It is not a law. So why are they complaining?
4. The marriage ceremony cannot hold in the congregation because what will be discussed there will be about the witness doctrines which will be different.

One of the reasons why most of them is even having this marital problem also is because even when you want to marry a fellow witness, and you guys start dating, and they found out, they will start asking you both questions and preaching to you both, so that fear even make most of the witnesses unable to relate with fellow witnesses of the opposite sex on emotional ground, they hardly fall in love with each other, even when they are attracted to a fellow witness, they can't express it, that crush and attraction on a fellow witness will remain with them, no room for expressions, hold hands with an opposite sex always who is a witness, or going home together always after kingdom meetings with an opposite sex who is a witness also, or always seating together with an opposite sex who is a witness during kingdom hall meeting, and the elders will begin to suspect you, they will think you guys are dating, and they will call you both someday and begin to ask questions, and preaching to you both, so the things discourage members from falling in love with fellow witness, or expressing attractions

Yes, for Jehovah witnesses, there is no hell fire so that they can inherit the earth. Expelling a member from the congregation could occur when such a member becomes pregnant for a non-witness out of wedlock and this could also be the case when a witness commits fornication with another witness. Expulsion is a general scriptural principle that applies to any unrepentant wrongdoer (1 Corinthians 5:9-11) who are received back into the christian fold when they demonstrate genuine repentance. Marrying a non-witness is simply not the basis for expulsion. Of course fornication is clearly against bible standard and marrying a non-witness is not an act of fornication for which anybody is expelled. I have a friend who is a witness in Abule Egba area. I don't know of the marriage restriction because i have not discuss it with her. But I know they do not celebrate birthdays, Christmas or anything. But she and her husbands drinks like fish and watch films they like. Their prayer does not last long but their injunction is to evangelise at least twice a week.

"No jokes o" they refer to university as a river filled with crocodiles and say if 10 of their members go into that river(university) only 2 out of that 10 may survive the crocs... thereby causing some members with genuine intentions to train their kids to any level stop their kids at secondary school level to either learn a trade or do menial jobs.. Dnt say what you dnt knw. I'm a Jehovah's witness, we clap hand and we don't celebrate bds cos there is no place in the Bible where God said we should celebrate birthdays. We only do what the bible says. Plus no one is been forced to marry a witness only. It is a personal decision.

The bible says people will die because of ignorance...The Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe anything outside of the bible and i know a lot of the members that married outside the religion. People should find the truth and let it set them free..wordly achievements like getting married, having kids enjoying life are not the ultimate goal but being found worthy of everlasting life by God. Any God that will burn someone in fire for ever is not worthy of your worship too. God is so loving that he only gave two options to humand which is obey and live, disobey and die. The witnesses cherishes the bible standards.they realise also that God's laws are for our own good,they are not burdensome nor are they restriction.so if someone who has chosen to ignore them claim what is posted, that is their problem

I want to do what the life giver and Creator Jehovah says. He makes my heart beat and my lungs breathe. I think he is smarter than me. So if He tells me to marry a believer, that's what I will do. It's been said that 90% of your happiness depends on who you marry. I have seen many among Jehovah's Witnesses that married unbelievers and do not seem as happy as those who have married Jehovah's Witnesses.
So the question is; do you want to be happy?
