Is there anything wrong by a lecturer telling him/her to kneel down. we are even the cause of what is going on in this country. How old is a 200level student that a lecturer can not ask to kneel down.
This is nothing but tyranny and abuse of power. The civilized way of disciplining a student in this setting is to ask him/her to leave the class or at worst ban him/her from your class.
i'm trying to imagine how the lecturer said it: "hey you come here, kneel down and face the wall" its absurd! and if a school thinks this is the best way to discipline an adult then i wonder what the hope for the Nigerian 'elite" youth is. It's really disturbing cos this is more than private uni and some of their bizarre rules VS government Uni and their acclaimed freedom. its time we start understanding the purpose of discipline and punishment. next thing we know physically abusing students will become acceptable. wrong on every level.
I am amazed at these trends especially in the private universities in particular. I thought they were centres to prepare maturing students for the real world outside of the ivory tower confines. However, it seems they are resorting to measures you would expect to find in primary and secondary schools.... This is utterly demeaning of adults!! It is going to be wearing of uniforms pretty soon,
I remember visiting my 5year old son's school (when he was in Nursery class) and I saw a boy at a corner facing the wall....... I was told he's at the "naughty corner"...........

if y'all actually know students who graduate from these private unis which u call sec schs, then u'll know they are not half-baked, neither are they timid. they are actually the best at what they do. i agree it's wrong to ask the boy to kneel in class, but all the same the private unis are molding better personalities in the society.
