I'm sure you all remember the Arik Air hostess that was caught trying to smuggle a quarter of a million pounds worth of cocaine into the UK in Dec 2011? (If you missed it, read it HERE). Well, she was yesterday February 2nd sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
Chinwendu Uwakaonyenma Ogbonnaya, 29, (pictured above) had flown into London’s Heathrow airport as a member of crew on an Arik Air flight from Lagos on 18 December 2011. UK immigration officers discovered packages of cocaine, worth 250k pounds, hidden inside her bag. Ogbonnaya claimed that she had been given the bag by a friend and that she was unaware it contained drugs. But she later pleaded guilty to attempting to import the drug.
A friend gave her the bag and she was unaware it contained drugs? Do you believe that story?

yes linda.its possible. it can be hidden and you won't know. that's why they say check well before you carry something for someone or if they give you a bag cos u never know the hidden parts of the bag. she probably pled guilty based on advice to get a lighter sentence. That said sha, it's verrryyyyyyyy possible she did it

she is lucky she only got 5.5 years. i know my neighbor that got 23 years. her daughter was 7 months when she went to jail. when she got back her dughter was 24 years old

Back to the question, It can happen but I'll say years back (even years back). According to Anonymous 12:49am as an experience Hostess, she should know better.
I believe she is trying to use her power as an hostess to comit the crime.
If you are given anything by anyone ( I mean ANYBODY), ask them to open it right infront of you, let them know that it the policy of the airline.
