Minimum wage in Nigeria now N18, 000

"As I have stated on this page, I am committed to ensuring social justice and restoring the dignity of labour in Nigeria which is why I have signed into law the Minimum Wage Act which mandates every employer of labour to pay at least N18,000 per month to the least paid staff. We have to motivate to create wealth. We may have much or little but what little we have, must be shared more equitably." GEJ on FB

That's a little above $100 dollars a month. Not much, but better than 9k.

@ Naso stop the sentiment, no one blames Goodluck Jonathan solely for Nigerians's problem. But he is the Present Nigerian's President and also a PDP member, so its only reasonable that people will ask him questions. Between he has been in a Political office for more than a decade, what has he done??? I think the increase in the minimum wage is good, but there are far more Problems to fix than a quick election campaign fix!!!
Nigerian need a government that is competent, accountable and is able to kick out corruption which is the heart of our Problem in this country!!!
PDP had ruled us for over 12yrs and failed, its time to give another party a chance!! Goodluck might be a good man but it takes alot more than that to rule Nigeria, can he step on people's toes and do the right thing?
Nigerians vote wisely!!!

even here in America, minimum wage will never allow a family to live and eat comfortably for one month. it differs from state to state and the cost of living for each state. in Cali, its $8 an hour, which is not much. its just basically sort of like pocket money to help people get by. anyway, HERE, most people that work minimum wage are young people under the age of 22, often times in school. either that, or illegal workers.
