CAN accuses Buhari of running Nigeria like a Muslim organisation

Yesterday in Abuja, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Youth Wing and four other affiliated Christian unions including Youth Wing of CAN, YOWICAN, Arewa Christians Association, Concerned Professional Christians, All Para-Church Organizations, Nigerian Christians in Diaspora all accused President Buhari’s administration of running Nigeria as a Muslim organization and neglecting the entire Christian faith.

In a joint statement issued by the five Christians associations and signed by the National President of YOWICAN, Mr. Daniel Kadzai, the groupsaid, 'the worse form of social injustice, terrorism and religious bias is to deny Christian children their right to practise their religion despite the role of Christian Religious Studies in helping to shape the moral character and integrity of our children as future leaders'.

The statement also reads, 'perhaps, it is in furtherance to its Islamic agenda that the APC government appointed the likes of Prof. Ishaq Oluyede, a known Islamist, who has never hidden his bias and prejudice against Christians, to head a most relevant educational institution like the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB. Despite the denial that the government is not slipping Nigeria into an Islamic country as evident from previous antecedents, Nigeria’s participation at the Islamic solidarity sports federation speaks volumes and confirms the obvious”.

'We can no longer also accept the perpetuation of denial of placements for qualified Christians to ascend a position even when they are qualified. Since 1999 no Christian has been appointed minister of FCT, it is not by error it is a religious agenda. “The Holy Bible says “…then you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” (John  3:38) Where the conscience of the nation is hinged on packs of lies, only the truth can set Nigeria free. Not only saying the truth, but doing that which is truthful! We cannot tolerate any further lies and manipulations”.

Of course he's not using Oritsejafor's plane to move money.Nothing here made sense.Did Buhari block them from going to Church? If he trusts his Muslim brothers for efficiency, so be it.As long as Nigeria moves forward.

This allegation is a baseless one, since 1999, No Muslim has ever been appointed minister of Finance, and the Muslims never cry foul, until we live above religious/ethnic sentiment, we will remain where we are.

Christians were and are still complicit in the looting of Nigeria. Islam doesn't fare better either. Just leave religion out of it.

Let the youths from the North go to hell now. They should stew in their own juice. When their northern people were wresting power from GEJ, all of them supported the Northern Agenda. No single dissenting voice then. It is now that their eyes are opening. When they all saw child-voters, they did not say anything. What are they talking and complaining about now? Please, they should let us hear. We are now adjusting to what they agended for us. Finally, Nigeria is merely sitting on a time-bomb. If you like you can call it 'a keg of gun powder'. Period! If Nigeria's stakeholders dont want to come together and fashion out the way forward and how we will continue to be a one-nation as some are championing, one day we will all be in the battle field to sort ourselves out before going our separate ways.

I believe the problem of Nigeria has nothing to do with religion.Let's stop confessing patriotism and start acting patriotic, only then will Nigeria become what it really want to become. Please remove religion out of the equation.

CAN is absolutely right in its position and in all its statements. The abusive, insulting, disrespectful and shameful comments here are not surprising. Slavery is first, and greatest, mental, and spiritual. In such a manner did the children of Israel also severally and at various times insult, mock and even curse Moses, and Aaron, whilst in Egypt, and even after having successfully been led out of Egypt and slavery of many generations. They, also, praised the land of their captivity, they praised and longed for their slavery, they desired to return to their slavery and their slave-masters and cursed and railed against Moses and Aaron. The comments on this post, are not surprising, neither are they anything new under the sun.

Where was CAN when IBB made Nigeria a signatory to the Islamic Organization of Countries (OIC)? This issue is endemic and has been festering since then, as it should be, in a multi-religious, multi ethnic and pluralistic society like Nigeria. Suppose when the concerned people's representatives sell their birthrights for mere crumbs off of the master's table, the people are left feeling bereft...go figure. QED@atm
