President Muhammadu Buhari proceeds to London tonight for follow-up medical consultation with his doctors.
He had planned to leave Sunday afternoon, but decided to tarry a bit, due to the arrival of 82 Chibok girls who arrived Abuja earlier in the day.
The President wishes to assure all Nigerians that there is no cause for worry. He is very grateful for the prayers and good wishes of the people, and hopes they would continue to pray for the peace and unity of the nation.
The length of the President's stay in London will be determined by the doctors. Government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the Vice President.
President Buhari has transmitted letters about the trip to the Senate and the House of Representatives, in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution.

Only God will help this country. How can we be so blind to reason? How and why have the youths lost it? Yes , if you are really ill, as long as you have doctors note and sick cert, your company is obliged to hold your job for up to one year and in some other cases more. After one year it would be without pay... So what are you on about? Does anyone ask to become ill? Have you ever asked to fall seriously ill?
So you would be happy if you are ill and sacked? He has done the right thing by handing over to his deputy who is extremely capable, so where is the problem there? Also we know he had a blood transfusion at some point. That tells us the serous was of his illness but whatever it is, it is treatable and curable therefore the doctors will see to it that he is well and release him in due course
