Government should create Oil Exploration Blocks there and call for open bidding. Let those that insist there is Oil in the Chad and Benue Basins take up the challenge. Public funds need be deployed in agriculture now and not Oil exploration.
There is no Oil or Gas in commercial quantity anyway north of Enugu. This is a waste of scarce resource at a to me of recession. I'm a reputable oil explorer and I've worked for MNPC and Shell. Agip, Chevron and Total all shot seismic and drilled wells in Benue Trough. They were all dry here les with minor traces of gas that could not even light cigarette lighter.

Lake Chad is fast drying up and other sources of water especially in the north east. It would have made alot more sense to explore sources of nearby water 4 keeping both humans and cattle/livestock alive instead of this quest 4 oil at this time. Water resources would also, decrease the clashes btw fulani herdsmen and farming communities. Not to mention the genocidal killings of innocent families by the murderous Fulani herdsmen. It costs about 16million USD to spud a well to completion.

At this point, I have to agree with the wailing wailers that there's truly a northern agenda top on the priority list of PMB. My reasons are simple:
1. At a time when resources are scarce, it is economically irresponsible to begin exploration for a commodity with a downward sliding value in the global market
2. It would have been cheap to direct the resources being utilised here todays completion of existing projects in the south/south (with proven oil reserve in commercial quantities) that have been stalled due to paucity of funds
3. It would have been cheaper still to fund existing indigenous oil firms to buy up existing assets that MOCs are divesting due to the sliding price of the commodity
4. The cheapest option would have been a re-investment of the funds in the re-orientation of the Niger Delta, ending years of restiveness and restoring the production capacity in the creeks of the Delta, offshore locations of the Delta, deep and ultra deep offshore and that would have had a more meaningful impact in the overall development and utilisation of our commonwealth
The equipment noticed in the site picture, the lay out and site out preparation, makes it look like it's a white elephant project (and that most likely incompetent firms may have been engaged) and may just end up in the category of efforts in futility like the Ajaokuta steel.
I pray for Nigeria and Nigerians, that the Nation will not collapse under this administration of PMB and the APC. The signs are truly troubling and worrisome
