Africa's answer to Disney: The Secret Princess movie staring Desmond Elliot and DJ Cuppy in cinemas 24 June

The Secret Princess is a most see family film set for release in cinemas across Nigeria this month from the 24th of June. Perfect for school trips.

Children in Nigeria are too often neglected when it comes to educating with entertainment. Despite the Nigerian film industry been the 3rd largest in the world you will struggle to find any films made for children.

This is why this is one of the most important films in the history of Nollywood
with a production spanning four years and a relatively high production budget which is reflected in the quality of the movie.

The Secret Princess adapted from the book with the same title is a Tale of Sade a Princess that goes through rejection and hence has to live out her life in the jungle while in her place a farmers son lives a life of luxury as the Prince. The story brings to the fore front many delicate topics in a subtle way, with plots which include a retreat into the forest but a far cry from the true story of the Kidnapped Chibok girls, and a tale of witch accusation which has been a common occurrence in Africa for centuries and with terrible consequences such as child abandonment and child abuse; a far cry from the Disney like wicked witch mixing candies. It also deals with the inferior treatment of the female child as compared to male child.
The Secret Princess produced by TransTales Entertainment is 2016 winner of World Bank award for best feature animation film at the KingstOOn animation festival in Jamaica.

Nigerians are still learning when it comes to animations. And didn't hear much of the actors, the narrator was boring me.

But Desmond Elliot and DJ Cuppy look retarded and also like they have growth disorders. I'm sure their brains aren't fully developed. How dare they compare a crappy production with a billion dollar American Disney.

Do you know that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1937 and has much better animation than this! I couldn't even wait to finish the trailer...

We really need to step up our game in this country we celebrate mediocrity too much.
