Photos: An abandoned woman lying helpless on Iwaya Road, Yaba

A LIB reader who saw the woman and took photos sent in the story. Please read below...
A woman has since Saturday, May 16, 2015 been found lying abandoned and helpless on Iwaya Road, Onike, Yaba, Lagos. She is currently opposite the Deeper Life Bible Church which also shares fence with PHCN. On Sunday, May 17th, when it became obvious that she was motionless, concerned people in the neighborhood called emergency lines 112 and 767, luckily the calls were picked and they promised to do something about it but up till now (Wednesday) the woman is still there without any intervention from any government agency despite all the calls and the promises made.
Concerned people in the neighborhood also put a mosquito net around the woman to reduce the harmful effect of mosquitoes pending when the responsible government agency steps in. The Deeper Life Bible Church reported the matter at Iwaya Police Station on Sunday, May 17th and some other group reported at the Sabo Police Station on Wednesday, May 20th, 2015. Though the Police visited the scene, tried to interrogate the woman but she could neither move nor talk and at the end, the Police said there was NOTHING they could do. They however, stated that the community should be responsible for taking her to the hospital.
We hereby use this opportunity to call on family members, friends, concerned Nigerians, responsible government agencies to arise and come to the help of this woman.

Don't mind all these government agencies and ministries, they don't do nothing! What is the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation doing? Even Domestic abuse is on the increase. I think that ministry should be scrapped, if they won't do their job.

Unknown said...

Its so bad dat u call govt agencies, and they don't bother to show up. Wht a shame.

@so called Davido's driver_ we see them daily. Such unsympathetic comment does not make the situation right. Try and learn how to be empathy even if that's all you can offer. You don't know tomorrow.

the church is not living up to its responsibilities. they can afford to build multi million naira structures and buy private jets but can't help helpless citizens. not even one in the open glare of their premises

Nky said...

Even if the government agency refuse to show up, what has deeper life church done to help the poor woman? What do they preach in church?
