US President Barack Obama has praised President Jonathan for conceding defeat in the recently held presidential election. In a statement released today, President Obama said President Jonathan through his action placed Nigeria's interest first. The full statement below...
The last few days have shown the world the strength of Nigeria’s commitment to democratic principles. By turning out in large numbers and sometimes waiting all day to cast their votes, Nigerians came together to decide the future of their country peacefully.
I commend President Goodluck Jonathan and President-Elect Muhammadu Buhari for their public commitments to non-violence throughout the campaign. President Jonathan has placed his country’s interests first by conceding the election and congratulating President-Elect Buhari on his victory.
I look forward to working with President Jonathan throughout the remainder of his term, and I thank him for his many years of service and his statesmanlike conduct at this critical juncture. I urge President-Elect Buhari and President Jonathan to repeat their calls to their supporters to continue to respect the election outcomes, focus on unifying the country, and together lead Nigeria through a peaceful transition.
Nigeria’s Independent National Election Commission (INEC) and its Chairman, Attahiru Jega, deserve special recognition for what independent international observers have deemed a largely peaceful and orderly vote.
I commend INEC for its extensive efforts to increase the credibility and transparency of the electoral process. Looking ahead to the gubernatorial elections on April 11, it is imperative that national attention turn to ensuring isolated logistical challenges are overcome and peace is protected, even in the most hotly contested races.
On behalf of the American people, I extend congratulations to the people of Nigeria and to President-Elect Buhari and look forward to continuing to work with the newly-elected government on our many shared priorities.

On behalf of the President elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I the King of Libers welcome you all to a New Nigeria. This historic event shall mark the beginning of a new era in our beloved nation. an era where politicians no matter how many kleptomaniac demons they are possessed by will see public funds and will be scared to divert it to their private accounts.
Because Baba has assured us and I quote 'You steal Nigeria's money and I will send you to Kirikir.'
Game on for those evil, wicked thieving and whoring politicians. If dem born una papa well make una steal Naija money. Evil, disgusting and vile things.
But still on still sha, LIBERS LOVE AND HAIL THEIR KING.
What kind of strong handshake is that. I still don't trust this oyibos.

Mr Aye-dee1ost
That you (President Jonathan) conceded defeat means that you are indeed a winner. You may not have won the votes of all Nigerians within and outside Nigeria, but you have won their hearts and by your actions this day, you have become the one we celebrate today. Rather than allow our blood to be spilled so that you can remain in office, you chose to be the sacrifice so that there will be a people to be governed. You chose not to follow the path of those whose kinsmen and countrymen have been slain for the purpose of power.
Like oil that prevents friction, by your action, you lubricated the joints of our togetherness as a nation so that we can live as one entity. Truly, you believed in the togetherness of our nation. As a symbol of the oil region you came from, rather than use the oil as fuel to consume all of us, you chose to use it as a lubricant, so that we can function well and move in one direction, a direction created by our founding fathers. You put to shame, those who for their selfish gains drummed for war.
Mr Aye-dee 1 lost
Shame on the US who had predicted our break-up in 2015. We have proved to them that they and their evil CIA are not God. We don't need their congratulations, they are not our true friends.
Shame on people like Doyin Okupe, Fani Kayode and Mr Aye-Dee 1. They were all nothing but miserable losers. Sai Buhari

Yes Mr.Obama tank u, u n David Cameron taught chaos will occur in Nigeria, the international community was waiting 2 laugh at us, But we proved all of u wrong. GEJ promised free n fair election n he delivered...Nigeria has stepped up, we now democratic!!!!
Good, thank God Nigeria is changing for good, Jonathan has done well by accepting defeat.
Tanks a lot (in jenifa's voice)
I just love GEJ
This goes to show that God has not given up on Nigeria, He so loves us. This is d same America that said Nigeria will disintegrate in 2015, d same govt that refused selling us weapons to fight insurgents. As long as God lives Nigeria will cont to prosper, God is taking us there. Watch out America
They should divide Nigeria and free us " the igbos" never coming back until they do that.

Congratulations to fellow Nigerians!

Thnx obama
Obama congratulatory message to Jonathan and president elect Buhari shows a bilateral relationship that will foster economic development to both countries. And I believed Nigeria and USA are like brothers and being involved in each others affairs is already an evidence to unity and economic development. Congrat to Nigerian president elect and out going president for laying a foundation to this unprecedented democracy where masses are the power that moves the nation.
Breaking news: Jonathan slaps Buhari this afternoon: photos and videos. http://bit.ly/1xXLwVD
Thank You President Obama... Democracy will continue to thrive in our Nation Nigeria...
Oh please! You didn't work with him since is now you will work with him. Please Mr Obama keep your assistance Jonathan has got one month left so it's not needed. I just pray that the trade off buhari made to garner ur support and that of UK will not hurt the Nigerian people and I hope GMB calls ur bluff if you leeches pressure him into committing to any negative tradeoff! And ohh the PIB might jus be all u get as buhari is likely not to pass the bill which indeed favors you white leeches! Or modify it to suit their northern elites and you white leeches! We dey watch!
Alright! Weldon President Obama
What Nobel price? None sense . GEJ conceded at gun point. He was held at gun point to concede and call GMB . You guys don't know how things are run . The cabals wanted him out .....very soon you all will confirm this...
Yea USA GEJ has made your prophesy that Nigeria will break in 2015 not to come to pass. So you people have to commend him.

GMB has won, we have heard. Change has come,
we agree. The Nigerian Lee Kwan Yew has
arrived. We welcome him. However, we expect
to see this change PRONTO.
Constant light in four years. WAEC pass rate
should be 90%. In four years. There should be
no more potholes on our roads. In four years.
We shouldn't hear of crime. In four years. There
must be no corruption in ANY sector of our
public/private lives. The Naira should gain
grounds against foreign currency(that one no
favour me but I go still talk am). In four years.
Fuel price should be N16. In four years. All of
these and many more. In four years.
To all those who rained abuses on GEJ and
Patience in the name of campaign, all I ask is, be
as critical of the incoming government as u were
of GEJ's. We will not hear the excuse that
Nigeria's problems did not start with Buhari ooo.
We will not hear that change takes time o. Let
us judge him by the same yardsticks.
At the same time, we have not forgotten all the
promises o. Stipends to the poorest families.
Payment of 'allawee' to unemployed graduates.
Feeding Nigerian students daily. When he made
these promises, he knew about the country's
reserves. He knew that the crude prices were
falling. He said he would do it, and Nigerians
believed him.
We should watch carefully. How will he
constitute his cabinet? What will his body
language be towards bigwigs in his party that
have been accused of corruption? How exactly
does he intend to "fight corruption?"
Four years is a long time. A lot can be done in
four years, For the sake of our dear country, I
sincerely hope that change has come.
