I actually believe Don Jazzy. But D'Banj? He better not come out saying stuff like that or he'll lose any respect I had left for him. D'Banj was a complete tool for GEJ, like OMG! I couldn't believe it! If I were in Nigeria at the time of the election, God knows I would still NOT have voted for the mumu GEJ. I was saying it then, now look at all the idiots that voted him in simply because his name is "Goodluck". You will all suffer for your foolishness! I dey laugh oh!

Miss B said...

Seriously people, did Don Jazzy's single vote or endorsement singlehandedly put GEJ in ASO Rock?

Let's not forget the issue at hand, which is GEJ doesn't care if at the end of the day he's the president of the Fed. Rep. of Roaches and Rats, which are all will be left in this country after poverty, Boko Haram, sectarian violence, bad roads, pipeline explosions, uneducated religious batards etc kill us all!!!

Miss B, i don't know about Y☺Ʊ oh! But na Only God go kill me and mine wen our time haff rish ☺.

By †ђξ way, shع is right. Don Jazzy didn't vote Badluck into govt all by himself. He wasn't †ђξ only one who was brainwashed.

People should get a life. Celebrities endorse Presidential candidates everywhere in the world even in the US. Obama was endorsed by a lot of Hollywood celebs and that contributed immensely to his election. Now that Obama is "underperforming", nobody is putting blame on Oprah, Ellen degeneres, Clooney, etc and all the celebs that endorsed him. Let's put the blame where it rightly belongs, no point crying over split milk cos it won't solve a thing.
My opinion.

the truth is that a lot of nigerians are ignorant and have no education. exposure/wealth is not equal to education or knowledge. so don jazzy shud not talk abeg. the truth is subsidy removal in the long run will make nigerians smile because what is happening now is a culmination of things our leaders did in the past and now JOnathan wants to bring nigerians out of the mess but nobody understands and he is the person taking the blame for something he came into ASO ROCK and met. if i'm the man sef me i go leave nigerians since they are ignorant. the govt must not tell the people the little secrets of what happens in govt. look at the US, European Union, did govt tell them that the eceonomy was bad? now everybody is angry, subsidy removal is in the best interest of nigerians maybe not now but in the long run so be patient.if wan comot naija goodluck to u, if not stay here and make the most of what you have.

I like Don Jazzy's spirit. Irrespective of the mistakes he's made, he has openly admitted regret. It takes guts to do that; something most of us do not have!

Anonymous said...

this Don Jazzy guy dey make sense sometimes o!
that part about them not getting a kobo is difficult to believe.
No sane person would support GEJ without being paid. It just does not make sense. The man can't convince a deaf man/woman. He is that unconvincing. So how did he convince the likes of Don Jazzy if money did not change hands.
From afar i could see that the man was an epic failure.

Well we may have to wait for at least a year to see if there are any improvement or concrete actions towards improving infrastructure and other sectors of the economy to truly know if he is sincere. But the problem is, can people endure till that time? Was there no other way of generating money like cutting the cost of governance and saving Nigerians all these hardship?

Otis Redding said...

Anonymous 8:09pm, every enlightened individual knows that removal of fuel subsidy is in the best interest of any country. But I beg to ask you (as I have been doing lately), Is removal of fuel subsidy the ONLY option for improving any lacklustre economy? Did other triving economies remove subsidies to be stable? Why must the poor masses be the sacrificial lamb on the alter of falacies whenever any LYING government comes up with methods of improving the economy? Why must fuel subsidy be removed in a society where majority of the people live below one dollar a day, power supply is erratic and resources are not shared equally and equitably? For your information, the only means of attaining positive results ultimately from the fuel subsidy removal is if there exists a competitive market (which I doubt would happen). GEJ is promising us that SOON, we would reap the dividends. Pls, do ask him, WHEN IS SOON going to be attained? 5yrs, 10yrs, a century, a millennium (I guess)? Or when the streets would be littered with decaying carcasses of poor people, whose primary cause of death was HUNGER, secondary to FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL. Lets call a spade what it is! There is not up to 50% guarantee that the UTOPIA they envision would materialize. It would still be business as usual! WHO IS FOOLING WHO!

Dr. Otis Redding

@ anon 8.09. I beg to disagree! What evidence do u have that the revenue realised will actually be utilized and not used to pad some pockets?? If the govt os serious abt saving funds, they should start by cutting down their frivolous spending!have u seen how many cars are in d convoy of one of these goons just simply escorting them to d airport?one time i counted 20!Tell me ,will that happen if na dia moni dem dey use fuel am???! All their kids are abroad,dy dont ply d bad roads,dy dont use your hospitals, heck dy dont even buy food with their money,so what do they care!! i wish someone will bomb dat Jona and his fat wife!

People make me laugh when they say stuff like 'they regret voting for GEJ'. Whom would you have voted for? Buhari? What is there to say that he would have been better?

First of all, know that Buhari headed PTF which was a creation of Abacha's oil subsidy removal when it was increased from N3 to N11. So, in essence, Buhari believes in subsidy removal.

Secondly, I do not imagine that Jonathan would purposely seek to punish Nigerians. I'm sure this is being done for the greater good. If we all remember, GSM was N50 when they first started, but it is now about N10. So may be this is what will happen here...

d greatest mistake Femi Kuti made was not impregnating several girls. It was ever allowing Dbanj to be dressed like Fela and play a Fela song at the Shrine with Femi and the positive force band backing him.
That day Fela turned in his grave.
Femi needs to perform rituals for his father to forgive him that sacrilege.
Dbanj is a prototype of everything that is wrong with youth of this generation.
Don Jazzy would be a much better person if he did not have to hang around Dbanj.

Nigerians would be better off on the long run as a result of the PMS subsidy removal but there are better approaches to its implementation.

GEJ woke up from the blues and gave Nigerians a bombshell on the 1st day of the year.

Had he given a national broadcast before the removal stating the available options and their resultant outcomes and the reason for his preferred choice, the effect of his final decision would have been cushioned.

Another national broadcast immediately the subsidy was removed would also have pacified Nigerians.

Whatever decisions GEJ and his cohorts in Aso rock make, they should realize that such decisions directly affect the everyday life of Nigerians irrespective of thier status in the society.

They should also realize that power is transient and someday they will be out of that 'rock' where they take refuge of all sorts.

Long live GEJ. Long Live Nigeria.

Until govt reduces its own spending, slashes salaries and reduces to the barest minimum perks for people in the presidency and National Assembly. and finally shoots all the corrupt people in the regime, I am not buying whatever they are selling. They can sell it to the marines!

@Annon Jan 3 5:37pm..........u are a bloody fool for that silly comment of urs,,,,and u should know that u'll definitely share in GEJ's curses too......

@Annon Jan 3 8:09pm.......i strongly disagree with u,,,,,of course every enlightened individual knows that the removal of oil subsidy is in the best interest of the economy of the country but as the case is in Nigeria now,,,why is the government focusing on only oil sector to get more funds??? why should the masses be the one to suffer more while the rich are getting richer even when the government can cut down on some irrelevant expenses??? should removal of oil subsidy be an option when the government is not ready to increase the minimum wage of workers??? Is removal of subsidy the most important thing for the government to tackle now when there are other pressing issues facing the country???? Now that the government is not even faithful in sharing dividends equally,,,when the removal of subsidy begins to yield,,how are we sure it will get to grass root people??? what has GEJ put in place to make living comfortable for people while they await the benefits of subsidy removal,,or how do u expect people to cope with increase in T-fare,,food stuff without salary increment????? Lastly,,,how are we sure subsidy ever existed in the first place??,,,i say this cos of what someone posted on my wall yesterday,,,,,i have been thinking about that information too.......there could be some truth in it....

@Femillionaire keep that your yeye mouth shut when comparing telephone to fuel are they the same? you can do without telephone but not fuel as you need it for your car and generator which is essential as govt have refused to give 24 hours light.

Ribadu was the only one that seemed genuinely sincere in his plans for Nigeria. I MEAN GEJ DIDNT EVEN DO ANY DEBATES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD AND FOLKS STILL VOTED FOR HIM, FOOLS.

Femillionaire said...

@ Anon January 4, 2012 2:22 PM, next time you want to call someone out, better put a name to your post. Do not hide like boko haram to cause havoc.

Having said this, I have no qualms in saying that the government was spending too much in subsidizing petroleum products and something had to give, otherwise Nigeria would be broke in the near future. It is just like Linda and her plans to buy a Camry muscle... I'm sure she denied herself of a few things so that she could save enough money for the car. I would have preferred that they fixed the refineries before this action but I'm not the government. I do not imagine that the likes of Okonjo Iweala and Sanusi Lamido would deliberately set out to punish us.. If they get it right, with time, the refineries will start to work, more refineries would be built, more jobs created, forex conserved, shipping costs/port charges eliminated and the prices would come down.

Jonathan however needs to step up to the plate. He has to be presidential. Keeping mute is not the right way to go about this. He should engage the public just the very same way Obama did when he wanted to sell his new health care plan for americans...
