SHEESH. anyway, if its just a one-day thing, then i dont see what could really come out of this protest besides creating awareness. as i said, when the REAL protest goes on where people are marching to ASO ROCK then i dont see what affect other protests will have. after all, dont expect the US or UK or any of those other western countries to come to aid, after all, they are commending GEJ's administration. Well done to those Nigerians in London who sacrificed their time and comfort to protest against the removal of the fuel subsidy. However, this fight should not be only about the subsidy but should the removal of incompetent and corrupt "leaders", who have no vision for the country but implement unsuitable policies which put the country into greater underdevelopment. Truly enough is enough and I can only pray that soon, change will come to my country. Let's not give up the fight.

At any other time, I would cringe at the yelling however, this is yelling at the appropriate time, for the appropriate issue. The anger and disgust at what is happening back home - the injustice, is justified and I am so glad that those of us in the diaspora are not just sitting on our hands waiting for someone else to come to our assistance. A revolution must begin somewhere so, to those asking what the point of the London protest is, clearly the point is lost on you. In that case, let me school you. How about showing solidarity with the plight of your fellow Nigerians - we all have relatives there and they are suffering.
We protest to highlight the unfairness of the system, high unemployment, corruption, people who put money ahead of the lives of other people, homelessness, mistreatment by the government, poor infrastructure and health care system and the general economic situation. We all know that the fuel subsidy had to go, but the timing is absolutely wrong, there's nothing in place to cushion the effect of the removal on the gen pop and we all know that the money garnered from it will only further line the pockets of these thieves in suits and agbadas.
So, what do you expect those of us here to do? Just sit back and do nothing?
I bet when the Arab uprising started in Tunisia and Tunisians in the Diaspora began protesting all over the world, you were sitting in your cosy living room, watching TV, sneering at the futility of their protest. Well, hot damn! Protests by Tunisians in the diaspora along with the intensive campaign of civil resistance helped drive the change. Fancy that!! How did that happen?! If they can do it, so can we. We must be the change we want to see.
