Another traffic robbery story with photos

An LIB reader writes in
"Seen a lot of news on your site of car robbery incidents recently. Never imagined I would be a victim. I was in traffic tonight on my way home, along Iganmu Apapa bridge when they struck. They burst my window on the driver side and snatched my phone from my lap."

The reoccurring robber on the route is unbecoming. This further shows the insensitive nature of the police and security agencies in securing lifes and properties

This reminds me , today Linda my white colleague and I drop down from our rides and left the drivers to stay in the heavy traffic at ijora and we both took a bike straight to our houses at APAPA cos of what we normally hear and read on news. Robbers this, robbers that. IGP should do something or change the commissioner of LAGOS police. Crime is gradually increasing in LAGOS o. Engr Emy

this is getting scarier by the day,God of mercy

Moral of the story.. Don't leave valuables on display.
They didn't break in by chance but saw your phone sitting there for the taking.
Be careful and thank God it wasn't more serious.

At this rate Lagosians should put their valuables out of sight, hide your laptops in booths and your phone under the seat of your vehicles, buy a small phone for decoy, shikena.

I've said this before and i'm still gonna say it again, please carefully look at this car and tell me there isn't signs that the owner is rich. Yes, my advice may sound funny and unserious but it would help in plenty of ways, let's look at it this way, the owners of these expensive cars can as well afford a second car right? If so, why not buy a smaller car (I mean, less attractive n expensive car) whenever you know you would be the on these roads, late at night, early hours of the morning or stuck in go slow? These bandits most times don't attack these low profile cars. All we would continue to see here of road car robbery incidents, would still be expensive car owners. Thank you.

I am yet to feel Ambode. I voted for him though. He needs to step up his game, security is top priority pls. Fashola invested heavily in security.

I had to take a longer route that was traffic free after i watched them shatter a ladies glass in front of me. I can't shout oh. God help us

Unknown said...

When is all this gonna stop?

Anonymous said...

I mean, are you new in Lagos?with all that has been happening you left your fone on your lap, next tym put ur wallet,laptop,100k on ur lap.Regardless NPF need to step up this is becoming annoying

I dont agree. These robbers are desperate. You have your stuff displayed or not, they attack one when they think it's convenient. The day i was robbed, my car is not flashy, glass was rolled up, my phone and jewellery were in the glove compartment and my bag on the floor at the back, the guy broke my car window and asked me for my bag. It was while i was trying to bend over to get him the bag, that he and his cronies who were robbing other cars fled and he snatched my wristwatch off my hands. There is no hard and fast rule for those evil minions in traffic.God protect us all.

i experienced the same at that iganmu area too,but luckily for me i was left unhurt and my glass was not shattered,i gave them my smallest phone and they even wanted to take my keg thinking there was fuel in it,lol..that place at night is a bad zone especially with the trailers and all, make sure u are not lost in btw trailers cos that is when u r most vulnerable to be attacked

Anonymous said...

Seriously this is too bad were are all our logos police men?

Anonymous said...

But policemen are always on that bridge checking vehicle papers. Why cant they be posted there too to save lives and properties

Anonymous said...

Gov Ambode, please take note!
