Another attempted robbery in traffic at CMS...man shares his story

A LIB read shares his experience below...
On my way to work this morning; at exactly 6:30am, after I drove down Akpongbo heading towards the Ajah park bus stop area, where the lanes merge to two; there was traffic on the road because of an obstruction by the road builders. There was a man walking on the side of the road. At first when I saw him from afar, I suspected because I've heard so much about the robbers at CMS. My Window was half way down; We exchanged indirect glances and he walked past.
The next second, he walks towards my window telling me to bring out the money and my phones; putting his hand inside the waist of his trouser like he wanted to bring out a gun. I was so surprised and i had to act fast so I uttered 'chairman abeg' while stepping on the accelerator, hitting the car in front of me twice. That was when the criminal ran away. The front of the car was damaged in the process. I would have lost my phone and watch which cost about $12,000 combined. But I thank God. I just want to use this opportunity to advise everyone that passes the CMS route and other notorious areas to be very careful; if anyone approaches your window in traffic, make sure you hit the car in front of you without wasting time because the person in front of you would come down and they would flee; when you get to traffic, dont put your car on park so you can easily step on the accelerator. I also want to apologise to the guy in front of me (Honda CRV) for allowing me hit him, God bless you. We are our own police. Attached are the pictures of the car after the incident. It's still better to spend money repairing your car than dashing robbers. Have a wonderful week everyone. God bless.

Hmmm...interesting! Your logic may not necessarily pan out for the next victim! Hit the car in front of you.....twice!! No...no...no. What if the motorist in front of you doesn't stop to help or he/she stops to help and is attacked!! A watch of $1,200!! Hmmm...phunky story! Still checking out your car to fit the watch and the story! Oh well...your choice! It's not wise to stop your car in traffic when hit. The driver that hits from behind may be a potential rogue/ assassin etal. After all, that's the aim. To make you get out of your car....a lame duck....an easy target!!! This is Lagos! This is Nigeria! Let's be wise, while we look up to God!

Thank God for your life and properties bro. Sad enough do we still have police in Lagos state and other parts of Nigeria? They have been hearing about this for a while and why wont they beef up policing 24/7? Same has been happening at Mile 2 for while until it happened to one of the officers before they expedite action on that part of Lagos. They should wake up pls.

This person is wicked. Do u know d damage u could cause and cosy d person in front of u that u hit? What is N12K compared to d damages and stress u could cause someone else. Do u realise that time is money. So d other car owner would waste useful time and money repairing his car. This man is a wicked greedy man. Pls do not follow his advice, else u put urself in more expensive mess

yawanow said...

Na wa 4 Nigerians o. I also like kia products. Why bashing the guy because of his car? He might have a G-wagon at home. Haba! We should be thanking God that he wasn't robbed,it hurts more to be robbed by fellow humans simply because a gun is pointed at you. It is better to pay for something you damaged rather than somebody stealing from you. Most Nigerians like "show-off",some only investment is their car. The guy is content with his car and fancies other items, leave him alone.

Poster, since u can afford a $12k watch, please buy urself a taser, or pepper spray!! They both work a lot!!

Anonymous said...

Funny you..he said 6:30am. You hardly put On your AC around that time except if you are using the heater part of the AC. Any car with Good AC will almost freeze you at that time of the day even if it's on the lowest. It's obvious you don't have a car or yours doesn't have a Good AC.

Anonymous said...

You have $12k watch and driving this crap. I no believe you my friend.

Anonymous said...

Haba, does it matter if the guy drives a kia . People and the way they judge by the kind of car one drives. Naija peeps and dere mentality .

Anonymous said...

Let the guy heed your advice bcos it is a better option. Besides, judging the value of the car, the driver may nit likely use watch and phone of that value.

Anonymous said...

Switch @ 5:25, it was just a little correction which I should know because I am from Isale Eko originally (I mean my family) that is my area. There is no need to be abusive or aggressive. We learn every day. So please try and behave like a civilised human being. I am sure if some one said something wrong about your place of origin you would correct them in a nice manner I hope? " the actual word is Aponlagbon which gradually got shortened to APONGBON over the years. Comprehend. No abuse please just learn this is how you will grow.

Katherina said...

What if the car in front of you was a g class. And moreover if u get hit in Lagos traffic and decide to confront the guy that hit u you might just get robbed. Mind your business and stay out of trouble and if trouble looks for u then u pepper spray that b***h :)

Anonymous said...

Same thing I noticed too. Fake life..

Anonymous said...

You are a wicked soul. You hit the car in front of u twice because of 12k and you are recommending it to others? How much is a good paint job?
The guy in front didn't get out because thieves also use this technique of hitting you from behind and rob you once you get out of your car. Please wind up your glass when in traffic, that is one of the basic safety tips.
