painful as it is for this to have happened to him, i think the man was being overzealous. most of these commercial bus drivers are reckless. but then again, the policemen keep arresting and extorting money from them.

hurtful

the picture says it all. it does not look like a police man struggling with a commercial bus driver. the picture looks like a drunk policeman on the wheels , who crashed the car and lost one hand.

This looks like Murtala Mohammed Airport Bus shuttle. I am strongly suspecting it happened here in Lagos along the International Airport Road axis. Its so unfortunate.

Casey DM said...

don't know if it is fair to say " Serves him right" but another part of me feel for him. These Law enforcement agent need to be trained, they behave like motor park touts. Why struggle with the driver? is there no other way to arrest a bus? the annoying part is how they struggle to open your door and jump into front seat. Well, you are officially an amputee. Cheers. You need to look at the picture well, the vehicle in question looks more like a police truck rather than a public transportation bus.
I think the story behind this picture would be "a police man lost his arm in a terrible accident. From the picture,it is obvious that people were trying to get him out of the front seat of the vehicle.

Anonymous said...

Linda the accident happened last week Friday along airport road in ikeja Lagos, from what i heard when i passed the scene of the accident the policeman grabbed onto the car because the driver refused to give him N100. the accident caused a bit of a hold up for almost 3hrs.

OUCH!!!! Kai!!! but why now????
there are better ways of handling arrest not by chasing the car. The other day a policeman was crushed to death along obollo afor, Nsukka from chasing/stopping a crazy driver.
Nobody wants to be caught for crimes, so the police force needs to restrategise

It happened last Friday, around my office. Caused so much traffic. From what i learnt; the driver of the bus he was in requested he paid his fare.
He insisted that they(police officers) dont pay.
The driver kept harrassing him for money, that he had just dropped a police that did not pay and he must pay.
The police then opened teargas on the driver's face; whilst he was driving!
Driver lost control of the steering and that bus tumbled a few times.
Other passengers sustained minor injuries.
The was the worst hit!

OMG!

Unknown said...

This is tragic!

Unknown said...

The incident happened last week Friday July 3rd 2015 at about 5pm. The police Man was inside that vehicle, its a Toyota sienna painted in blue airport/fan shuttle taxi colour. I was on a short queue along the road leading to Forte oil petrol station close to the local airport from Ikeja axis when the Toyota sienna came with speed and hit a Mitsubishi suv going to the airport from behind, the sienna fell down to the left, hit the road divide and tumbled to the other side of the road, thank God there was no incoming vehicle close by, it would have been worst.
The occupants were easily rescued with minor injuries except the police officer who lost his left hand and was also held down by the steering and other body parts of the badly damaged sienna car. We need to do more on our emergency rescue plans as a country. I was pained that the police officer almost bled to death due to lack of professional and timely rescue intervention even beside a police station.
