23 year old Kay-Ann Morris (pictured right) has been arrested and charged with the murder of her 7 year old niece, Shanay
Rihanna Walker (pictured left), who was found dead around 5.10am at her flat in Bestwood, Nottingham last Thursday July 31st.
Post-mortem tests established that the preliminary cause of the little girl's death was a head
injury.
Prosecutors believe Kay-Ann attacked and battered Shanay late the previous night over reasons she's yet to give. The little girl had been staying with her aunt while her mum traveled out for business.
When she appeared in court two days ago for her hearing, which was attended my family members including the little girl's mother, the murder suspect shook, sobbed and covered her face with her hands asking for forgiveness. She was remanded into custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court later today.
