Leading the honorees is the richest man in Africa, Alike Dangote, who is getting the highest award usually reserved for high ranking government officials, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
Super Eagles captain will be bestowed with Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). While entertainers like Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okerereke, Olu Jacobs, Kanayo O Kanayo, Osita Iheme (Pawpaw) etc will get Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
The award will hold sometime in December. Congrats to all of them! Very well deserved!

@ Loudmouthed - I agree but this is a little different from all these other awards. This is from the nation to the nominees for being good representatives of our country. The United States does it - e.g the Kennedy Center Honors, I don't think they pick 364 people though, in 2009 and 2010, 5 people who were honored and it is for a lifetime achievement in their industry. Trust Naija to take it to a whole other level by nominating 364 people, we can never do research to do the things we copy well. And trust people to start handing out bribes to be nominated and chosen so they can use it for bragging rights. They will start putting it on the business cards too - "Tony Owolabi, NNMA, B.Sc, M. Sc. Egr" LWKMD. Naija power!
364 People though? I was literally laughing for a straight minute. I just hope Gene realizes she has always been a Member of the Federal Republic. The award is a great idea but it needs to be awarded to fewer people and maybe the title should be changed. But I know how we Nigerians loovvvvve our titles. smh
i say omotola deserves it cos she is a philantropist and she helps chaity but dese honours are for dose who campaigned for jonthan nd we all knw omotola is a wife and has kin,u dnt expect her to campaign but if the award is based on givn bak to the community,omotla is num one.am not tryn to cos an arguement,just the fact.

Let us say the truth...yes she was mentioned on Oprah, yes...she is at every event and parties...she is just another sub-standard nollywood actress, not classically trained like Joke. Pretty, yes... i will give her that, but. How has she contributed to development of others.

Typical!! Several actors and actresses are being given these awards and it is Genevieve that you choose to pour your venom on. As someone has already said, your opinion on who gets the award does not matter; she has been chosen and not Omotola. Can't these 2 just exist without pitching them into a war that exists only in your minds? Now she is sleeping with somebody in government to get a national award; she is not a wife and mother and therefore does not deserve an award; does not have an NGO so should not exist; cannot speak good English or is it properly like you so must be vilified at every turn; she is not classically trained like so and so, therefore should not be an actrees; and a load of other angst. Can she not just exist in her little space doing her thing without always getting flack from people? She has distinguished herself in her profession like it or lump it and this award is a recognition. It is noone's business if Genny works or not. She does not have to act in every movie to remain an actress. Omotola's day will come some day but I just wish they could be left alone and not be pitched against each other at the mention of either at every opportunity. At the last count, there were several hundreds of actors and actresses in Nollywood. And for those ignorant and small-minded people, the industry is big enough to accomodate everyone. Congrats to all nominees.
