Assault on Female Students of St. Annes Secondary School, Molete Ibadan

Men forced their way into the hostels of St. Annes Secondary School, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday night and raped four female students to coma. Three of the students are in senior secondary school, SSS, while the fourth one is in the junior secondary school, JSS.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the miscreants scaled the fence of the girls school while the students were fast asleep. They descended on their victims unmolested.

Daily Champion
gathered that the rapists who were fully armed with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, iron bars and charms, gained entry into the hostels through the back fence, thus beating the guards on duty.

They were said to have assaulted the head teacher, while most of the girls in the hostels were similarly beaten before being raped.

Our source said that the security guard at the main gate was unaware of the incident as the rapists prevented the girls from raising alarm, by scaring them with the dangerous weapons. The rapists later fled the scene, after which the head teacher took the girls to a nearby hospital. St. Annes School, Molete harbours five schools with a principal each.

One of the principals, who spoke under anonymity, said that this is not the first time miscreants will be coming to rape school girls in Molete area in Ibadan.

"This is a kind of thing that has been happening in the school which was not  revealed to the public. In fact, similar thing happened only two months ago," she said.

According him, efforts by the school
s authorities to beef up security at the school had not yielded positive result as hoodlums kept coming to the hostels to rape the girls.

Meanwhile, the assaulted girls are being treated at a hospital in Ibadan (names withheld), while the hospital management promised to conduct series of tests on them.

A doctor in charge of the hospital confirmed that four students were brought in with severe injuries while 2 were in a near coma. He however stated that they had been responding to treatment.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Bashiru Azeez, reacting to the incident, directed that security be beefed up at the school, while he urged the Police area commander to "fish out the rapists at all costs."

This is pure evil and wickedness. Raping of the young innocent has become is rampant in Nigeria, i guess because a scapegoat hasn't been made of any offender. My suggestion is that jail time should be the served to those caught or guilty of the act......

I cannot even control the tears. this is madness.

for goodness sake, why such madnesss?
what would possess one to onflict such pain on another person. these are grils for heavens sake! not that it makes it less jutifiable.

this is absolutele madness!
im not even sure whether to place a curse on the animals that have done this.

i pray that God heals the girls and their families through this experience, and that they rise above this madness.

as for the perpetrators, i leave them to God!

Oh no! Not again!!!!! I heard of a similar case that happened at Owerri. Now this. Finally Nigerians are getting to know their country better. All the years of neglect, poor security and media sensuality has finally brought us to this point. This is horrible!!!!!! It could happen to any of our loved ones. And it will eventually if we don't all start screaming and demanding more from our government. If these rascals keep getting away with it, it will encourage more of these cases.I am sick of the way this country is. I just wish more people feel as I feel so there would be greater resistance

@ajala travel, I get that you try to make somewhat witty remarks, but they often come off as insensitive. How can you use such language on the parents, calling them "ode buruku", do u really think they would intentionally send their daughters there if they knew they were getting raped?

Why are you surprised? This has been happening for a long time the only difference is now that the interwebs exist it's much harder to miss what would probably be a small section in an otherwise obscure newspaper. When I mentioned that most people were raising slaves in Nigeria, some people grumbled. Wishing them dead won't help, nor will praying. It never did. What works is self defense training. What works is being armed and learning to use those arms properly. What works is building technology that prevents access without an authorized card. What works is setting up security cameras with infrared leds (for night time capture), if you have to run them off of batteries that you charge by day via solar panels so be it, but I'm sure there are those who are going to say that's way too much work, or it's unpractical. That is the mindset that enslaves. You do everything in your power to save yourself, you don't not plan ahead in an insecure environment and then whine about being violated later. When it started a long time ago and property were being stolen and extorted out of people, my moronic countrymen made asinine statements like (it's just property) not being able to think logically or critically that once a person can come into your home/abode and force you to give up your property he/she has already enslaved you and can do whatever he/she wants to you. Life is war especially in Nigeria, if you (and yours - teach your children) don't approach it with that mentality you will be enslaved by multiple crazy and aggressive people and criminals. Your choice.
