Wolves FC retains Carl Ikeme's No 1 jersey for the 2017-18 season as he battles acute leukaemia

Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper and Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Carl Ikeme, has been listed as the first choice of the 2017-18 season and will retain his No.1 jersey as he battles acute leukemia.
The Championship club made the announcement in a statement saying:  'Wolves can confirm that Carl Ikeme will remain listed as the club's number one for the 2017-18 season,' the club statement read..
The club also announced a number of initiatives to support the 31-year-old in what could be a long fight against the condition.
'Ten per cent of gate receipts from the season opener against Middlesbrough on August 5 will be donated to Birmingham-based charity Cure Leukaemia, as will profits from the sale of goalkeeper replica shirts printed with 'Ikeme 1'. 'A large banner, flags and messages of support for Ikeme on the electronic boards are among the club's other initiatives.'
Carl Ikeme who has already started an immediate course of chemotherapy was recently diagnosed with acute leukaemia after he returned with some abnormal blood tests during his pre-season testing.
