Photos: Brooms set ablaze as over 500 APC members defect to PDP in Akwa Ibom

Over 500 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ward 4 of the local government on Saturday.

The Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Comrade Ini Ememobong, who received the defectors advised them to remain faithful to the party, maintaining that the PDP remains resolute in changing the suffering that has been inflicted on Nigerians by the APC-led federal government.
The member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Ime Okon, who led the defectors,  said movement is the beginning of the death of the APC. He pledged to support the new members and solicited for their loyalty to the PDP.
Receiving the defectors on behalf of the party, the PDP Ward 4 Chairman, Mr Michael Akpan applauded them for their courage to move from darkness (All Progressives Congress) to light (Peoples Democratic Party).
