Nigerian
kids and indeed kids around the world are set for an exciting time as a new
proudly Nigerian cartoon will hit the screens in August!
Adventures of Turtle Taido - an animated cartoon
series will soon air on African television. The series is about the adventures
of a super-powered, bubbly turtle, Taido, who travels to all the cities across
Nigeria in search of knowledge and adventure. Through his journey, he forms
incredible friendships with characters of all backgrounds, and
learns about the rich cultural attributes of each place he visits.
TURTLE
TAIDO reinforces the message that the more we learn and understand other
people’s cultures, the more respect and tolerance we will have for diversity.
This concept is so important to teach young ones in light of what is going on
in the world today.
According to the creator and executive producer, Muyiwa Kayode, “Culture
is perhaps the most important element of a people’s identity. However, there is a gradual erosion
of our culture in the way our children are being raised, with most of them in
the urban areas unable to connect with our cultural values”.
TURTLE
TAIDO, primarily developed for children aged 3 to 11 years will also be enjoyed by people of all ages,
because of its entertaining and educative content.
A
global team of more than fifty people drawn from Nigeria, Europe and America is
working on the 2D animated cartoon series, which is being produced in 4K resolution,
the highest standard available in the world today.
While
the series is set to go on Nigerian TV screens in August, a Sneak Preview will
be held in Lagos on Thursday June 25, for a selected audience, comprising Brand
Managers, Broadcast Networks and the Media.
The
series is produced with support from the Federal Government of Nigeria’s
Project ACT Nollywood Program and endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Tourism,
Culture and National Orientation

Nice one...
Really?!
Good job
Please tell me this is an animatic. With funding from federal government and fifty animators from all over the world, this is just pathetic,as there are a lot of individuals doing amazing animation in Nigeria from their purses. Being candid this is actually one of the worst animation I've seen from Nigeria. In this day and age the animation industry in nigeria is way past this point.
Anisiuba Uche, you are absolutely right.
That notwithstanding, this is NOT the first animation series.
We have People Like Orange VFX, Shrinkfish Ltd and EVCL, yet someone gathers crew from outside Nigeria to produce series.
People please google these companies listed above or google Ebele Okoye, Adamu Waziri and a lot of practicing animators of Nigeria and you will see that this is not right at all.
I am not saying you must produce with Nigerians but it is always good to seek the local industry first. Certainly, none of those people you are working with will look towards Africa when they want to produce own series. They will first of all engage their own persons.
Just saying but good luck to you all the same.
I will say this one here has played the ball according to how the game requires and thats what we are seeing here... isnt it amazing that someone who you have never heard of suddenly shows up and has hired 50 animators over 3 countries and is about to take the world by storm... hahaha... well I guess thats all good.
However when it comes to passion and understanding for the industry, talking about developing the industry and bringing out quality work that can boost our image, I am afraid to say that this is not what will do the job, we have those who have been mentioned above and much more, especially on some facebook groups like Animation West Africa Foundation etc there is Exo comics, well, lets just hope the nation is run better from now on and those who are deserving will actually have an opportunity to be seen and known for their works and efforts... wow.
I have no words except that this is UTTERLY embarassing! How could you do this to the Animation Industry which we have been trying to build? This is very unfair, uncalculated, irresponsible and i-don't-know-what-else.
I would love to believe that Linda Ikeji got things mixed up.. so to say, that the information published here was not supplied by Muyiwa Kayode.
I was reading in some mobile broadband tech forum a while ago. Someone asked a ghanaian the difference between them and Nigerians and the ghanaian answered "Nigerians talk too much and do less"
POnly to come across this while still reading the article.
And those screaming awesome and great, do we have to nourish this mediocrity?
I would like to have a talk with those in the team especially Artie Romero and Gretchen Piper.
They owe the Nigerian animation industry an explanation for this smear!
// I am not expecting this to be published but it if gets published, then thank you for the transparency and lack of bias//
@ Gillian; Thank you. I do appreciate the mention
My second comment on this: (My first rant was not published... understandably)
We have been discussing this at the "Animation Club Africa" and a lot of us are enraged.
However, @Muyiwa Kayode, I have taken some time to look at your works and must say that you must have done this trailer in a hurry because it is NOTHING near the quality of your previous works most of which are truly great.
As for the person above who said wrote "...isnt it amazing that someone who you have never heard of suddenly shows up and has hired 50 animators.."
That is TOTALLY beside the point here. Remember that not everyone is a "noise maker" like MOST people are, especially those who like to jump in on other people's success and parade it as theirs.
Its not about how much NOISE one makes but about what one has ACHIEVED
That YOU "anonymous" have not heard of someone before does not mean they do not exist and are not doing anything. Brace yourself though because this won't be the last time people YOU have not heard of or refuse to acknowledge would be doing stuff.
@ Muyiwa Kayode I would simply suggest that you publish a better trailer because the rest of the stuff I have seen really look good and this trailer here is only destroying your efforts!
But let me end by saying that it is not the first Nigerian Cartoon series ;)
Well done!
Crap
Awesome
All you ranters, shut the hell up, focus on whatever it is you think you are doing and release something and I'm not talking 30secs ads o! Animated movies/ series....stop making noise please.
Appreciate and encourage people regardless of the quality of the job. He has made a milestone, get a better life and work harder bad belle!!!! Na you M.I dey refer to.
@Mr Ebele... Mr Muyiwa has done a good job that is worth applauding. I am very sure that you have not made such an impact which you call noise in all your years in animation. Learn from him so he can help you with international connections. Don't just sit your ass bad mouthing the quality of his work. Your badmouthing comments should be directed to him personally since you had the time to check his profile and other jobs he's done.
My advice to you, google his contact details and give him your advice since it is raging your animators association. Learn to celebrate and encourage those making new entries into the animation world!!!
All I have to say is nice trial... and it is not the first animation series in Nigeria, except you are trying to be political. And it seems the maker(s) didn't know WE have animators in Nigeria and Nigerian animators in diaspora. I say so because the 'global team I see here are whites'. nevertheless, it is a good and commendable effort you are making. But do us a favor and remove that 'FIRST animation series' because guys at EVCL: headed by sir Adamu Waziri have done so already and it is called Bino and Fino. Else, many animators and fans in the country won't be happy with you and that won't be good.
But on a second thought, with all due respect, if Linda is the one that invented that Title, I suggest she go and do more research and then the result will clearly show that it isn't the first animation series in Nigeria.
@ Mr Anonymous who addressed "Mr Ebele"
1) You definitely did not read my comment
2) You definitely did not click on my name to lead you to a link
3) You definitely are not bold enough to use your real identity
4) You definitely have no direct contact to Muyiwa Kayode NOR have you been to any of his pages like Facebook, but its okay, Nigerians are known to just JUMP into conversations without having details and you are not an exception sweetheart!
Do all that, then come back for a real discussion or simply join those who commented saying: "...isnt it amazing that someone who you have never heard of suddenly shows up and has hired 50 animators.."
Most important though is: Comment with your REAL identity because "Anonymous" holds no grain in discussions.
Have a deserving day!
I keep getting notification on this. Why?
Anyways, at the person saying Mr Ebele is bad belly, you misread what she wrote. The person she is calling a noise maker is the other Mr Anonymous who commented saying that it is strange that someone you have never heard of suddenly shows up and has hired 50 animators. As I understand she is just telling the commenter that Mr Muyinwa does not have to make noise to be authentic.
It all boils down to misunderstood communication and people should learn to speak up boldly.
I personally do not find anything wrong with the series because it is for kids. Only that I know that this is not the first and I think that is what most animation people here are stressing on. It is wrong information. That cannot be hard to understand. Google is out there if in doubt. Dazzol!
Ebele, so what if he makes noise.. He's proud of what he did. You are here ranting and raving because you want to be heard and noticed. Plus you are creating a very bad impression of yourself and your brand. You should have just shut the hell up and produced something better than his work. BTW never heard of you but will take note now
LOL @ Anonymous above:
Someone just explained but sweetheart obviously English is just too tedious for you.
I NEVER said Muyiwa is a noise maker. The person I called a noise maker is someone who appended a certain comment as "Anonymous" saying that he has never heard of Muyiwa. And you all claim to have good command of English babies but cannot grasp a simple sentence with a quote in it?
And you dear Anonymous; you talk about my "brand" and at the same time says
I have not done anything
Are you on Dashi or some crazy asian stuff which creates paradox perceptions?
Anyway, honey, you dont have to worry about me creating a bad impression of my brand cos bad impression with
YOUR kind of Nigerians.is what my brand STRIVES FOR and THRIVES ON. I can never say anything as Anonymous no matter what and no matter where because I am not a HYPOCRITE as YOU would have liked me to be.
..and finally but seriously:
Anybody who comments on serious discussions like this as Anonymous is a COWARD and will neither be given any further attention nor taken seriously ever.
..and all other sucessors, before you validate some stupid racists who claim that blacks have tiny brains, do go to Muyiwas Facebook page of the project and follow my conversation with him him there. #transparency
//Now Anonymous and clan; hurry along with your MASKS!! If you see this comment with lots of tiny links, its just trying to tell you to stop hiding behind Anonymous and learn some basic for heavens sake SIMPLE coding no matter how tiny the brain is.. and thanks Linda for approving them with the links if you do//
Definitely Nigeria has better to offer in terms of animation. But, when I read this story all I see is opportunity for us animators. Though we don't like the quality of the animation, it was an executed and finished project (with quality we don't like though). It could and would add to the awareness that there's a growing animation culture in Nigeria.
Guys it means a growing opportunity in the animation industry in Nigeria. I'm just trying to be positive about this.
What could help this situation though is if there was some sort of animation board that could regulate the quality of animations that the animation community would agree with. We do exist after all.
Ebele, I think you should quit wasting your time on responding to comments and get back to working on what you think you are working on.
Madam English PHD holder- check yourself first-'And you dear Anonymous; you talk about my "brand" and at the same time SAYS I have not done anything'- POT CALLING KETTLE BLACK.
Respect yourself ma, you don't have to respond to comments you deem stupid unless of course you are........ I remain Anonymous/ masked but you remain Ebele the....... (fill in the gap).
Ohhhh how sweet! Anonymous calls me "ma" LOL Whatever happened to "Mr Ebele"
Anyway, let me grab some screenshots cos I have an idea. I'll be right back
But sweetheart be careful with that "ma" lest you expose yourself to others who do not know YET who you are.. alright honey!
..and that one about "says"
- You SAY
- Anonymous SAYS *wink wink* remember that expression?
So where is my dear Anonymous [and clan]:
In my last comment, I said I will be back. I am back now. Lets move the party over to my place so Linda can have a bit of peace on her blog.
EVERYONE is invited.
There is popcorn to go round but bring your own drinks.
You people are really funny!
@ Ebele the link is not opening.
Either you got it wrong "Ma" or The blog owner removed it.
I think one should click on the name you used "Party Invitation to Anonymous and Clan" to get there
I will be watching from the sofa
