Renowned Lagos based make-up artist and CEO of Ewar
Make-Over, Adenike Ogungbe, has passed away. Nike died this afternoon in a hospital in Abeokuta, Ogun State just a day after giving birth. She gave birth early Tuesday morning, fell into
a coma (she actually never came out of the anesthesia given to her) and died this afternoon. Her baby is fine and healthy. Nike's last Tweet below.
Nike was only 31 and is survived by a husband and her new born baby girl. Truly sad. May her soul rest in peace..Amen.

It is sad.The healthcare system in Nigeria is almost at a zero.I know people will say that they have survived childbirth in Nigeria.Dears,God has been merciful we don't know the half of it. My mum is a British trained nurse who worked in a big Govt hospital in Lagos.She bemoans the present situation o.Inexperienced doctors and nurses looking fly in their uniforms but when in emergency situations loose control,panic and then resort to streamless prayer sessions in the labour wards.Eventually,its either the womam or child dies or both.An In law works as a nurse in a reputable hospital in Abuja but can hardly make a correct sentence in English language,talk less of writing it.When it comes to Childbirth in Nigeria,I strongly advice using Teaching or Govt Medical centers, at least more experienced health care workers are in majority.Forget mosquito and stench factor,endure biko.Go prepared.Hmmmmm....RIP Nike.

1 dt she delivrd via C/S.
2. Dt anesthetic complicatn wz d possible cause of her death.
I won't come 2 lecture u on d causes of death in early postpartun(after delivry) nd late postpartum bt 2 say dt its exhibition of medical ignorance 2 fink dt death of a woman after 24hrs of delivery is MOST LIKELY due 2 anesthetic complicatn. Far frm it.In health institution, I knw hw hard we fight 2 prevent maternal mortality in dis country. Wen u blog, especially any info u r nt sure of, learn 2 present it naturally. I just had my baby in the Us.I had anaesthesia complication too.after getting the spinal ,time to start the operation I could feel sensation.I told them and d dose was increased.and was told if I still felt it then they will give me general.after the surgery I started having headache.if I stand my head will be knocking.if I am on d bed lying flat the headache is gone.I complained and was given a blood patch they had to take my blood and put it in back at d site of the spinal.within mins d headache was gone.complications do happen.only the grace of God saves!

That she delivered in ogun state must have been as a result of an emergency. That she had general anaesthesia for child delivery is a confirmation that it was an emergency. The most likely diagnosis is eclampsia. The prognosis is just a little better in advanced centres.

Nig is very backwards...in the uk G.A is avoided as much as possible bcos of the recovery effect it has on both the mother nd child....and when dey have to administer it, they cross all der T's and dot der I's nd have professional z on standby in the OR.. I had a GA with my child nd I can remember seeing at least 10ppl in the OR before I was put to sleep....RIP Ewar may the lord comfort your loved ones
