dumb question why marry at the registry and then again in church? unless the church is not licensed to conduct weddings in which case it is then a blessing of the union.............i mean its the same certificate issued??????????

People should be encouraged to marry early, especial when there is no financial hindrance.

Done in true model style. They both look so good! Congrats. Wish you a happy married life.
Mrs F, how do I say this? Legal marriage is the union in the eyes of the law. The Church and traditional is the celebration of the legal union.
Some do the three: Legal, Religious and Traditional while some just do Legal and traditional. Which ever one suits the couple, that is what they do.
Can someone pls explain better on this. I'm not so sure about my explanation. Thanks.

Congrats Bisi dearie, me love Bisi, will never forget you coming to rescue me from what would have been an embarrssing situation in SA sometime in 2007. See it pays to be nice! Have a blissful union. May your story not be filled with the tale of woes which young couple tell these days. Amen

I am, the no Sender.
Am as stunned as Mrs. F. There is no difference really from the Court and Church wedding. It's the same certificate. She's right. You either do one or the other. They are both legal whether in Church or in the court. The traditional wedding is not binding legally. Your only recourse is in a customary court should there be need for a redress. Perhaps the couple were not sufficiently adviced.
We all know Linda is the blog queen, he's trying to promote is own blog & really he's so dry me sef can't stand him. Y won't his comment be removed when he's putting his blog addy here

@I am the no sender & Mrs F - there's a difference between church wedding and registry. it's not all churches whose certificates emanate from the registry as the law requires (these churches just give out thier own certificates and in law, these marriages are only recognised as 'church blessings' - unfortunately, the partners only understand this when there"s a problem and they head to court only to find that their marriages were not legally valid.
customary marriages are recognised by law and legally binding, the only problem is that the marriage will be guided by native law and custom and we all know how these stand with regards to women rights, inheritance, child support and are legally recognised as being polygamous in nature etc
To the first replier, ur answer is quite dumb! How do u call someones question dumb when ur no smarter! Her question is called a rhetorical question as she already answered her question! She made valid points! As far as the church is a licensed place of worship, u don't need a registry wedding, its the same certificate! So next time, before calling someones question dumb, check ur smartometer...
