What's the power situation in your area?

If you live in Nigeria, how is the power situation in your area? My brother came to me last night asking for money to buy fuel for the generator, and I looked at him like, what does fuel mean? Seriously we used to buy N1, 500 fuel every other day in my house and this happened for many years, until about a few months ago. Now there's constant power that sometimes I feel like it's a set up. Are you experiencing same in your area?

I was in Ajah in April and it was really bad. The amount of money we spent on petrol was shocking. At least 8K naira a week.

Are you kidding me?
I live in Wuse zone 1 in FCT, very close to Aso Villa, the power situation is now a case of from frying pan to fire. It is a very big decline, I thot it was a set up too. But why? GEJ we expected better power.

Linda plz speak only for yourself in matters like this one. No make me vex for you o!
Light! Improve ke??? Abeg spare me, I stay at Airways/Surulere, My dear I tell you light for that side don become cocaine, if you are caught using it anyhow na jail term. Infact people for that area don come to terms with the fact say to use eletricity from PHCN na a very big taboo. In my house na N1k fuel we dey use every 2 days. PHCN has failed woofully, PERIOD!

People, it is not GEJ that will give you light o. Look to your state governors, your commissioners of power(or the folks in charge of power and works for your state). That is why they say the most important elections are gubernatorial. Those are the people that actually get the work done. You can have the BEST president but if your governor/representative is a slacker, your state will suffer.

My prayer is that power will improve across the country. Nigeria is dealing with an early 20th century issue. We are in the 21st century and more than half of the nation can not boast of partial electricity. We can't move forward when the basic of basic amenities are not available. How can businesses run? How can hospitals function? Look at your local reps and governors, they are the ones responsible.

Anon 2:14 u are right! It has improved at Ajah. Stayed 2whole day with blinking. It's a gradual process but no be GEJ una go blame.

See the argument between those two. No be like this papa dey start am na like this; him go place him leg untop before him start am.2nd person; No him go turn on the fuel first.

lol @ anon 3:21. Me I no see am as argument o. E be like say dem no say dey need a lot of strength to start the gen. Na so, one con put him leg on the gen to hold am down, he con help him brother hold his weight for ground. Na him make him hand they on his brother back like so...

l live in lekki, work in ogudu and there's absolutely no improvement atall. l leave office at ogudu 8/9pm mon-fri, pass through 3rd mailand and it a whole big crude, village disguise as a city l see 90% of the time; from ogudu, gbagada, bariga, akoka, ebute meta axis its darkness unending. pls a semblance of 'we get light 2weeks out of the 5ys u av being living in ur area should not translate to eureka.

Even a BLIND person knows that electricity has not improve wherever you might be living. PERIOD. Linda, pls don't attempt to give any semblance of credibility to the power situation.

Or are u doing pr for nepa now? maybe u are... u know... ur blog is triving, rave of the moment, ur a big-girl a star, u av some coins, they fit pay u to launder their image for them. this is 9ja where everyone have their 'price'.....

@anon 5.30, I find ur comment both offensive and flattering.

Offensive because u think i'm cheap enough to collect money from nepa or PHCN to say something positive about them. I only stated something that I am experiencing in my area at the moment. I mean it when I say that the light situation in my area has improved drastically since early Feb. before then, we practically lived on generator.

Flattering because u think I'm that powerful. I'm not!

Improve ke i was in 9ja a few weeks ago just to confirm if the light has improved as i was hearing that GEJ has done and i can categorically say IT IS A LIE there were some days were i only see electricity for 30 mins in a day some times 1hr and sometimes for 2 days no blink of light.

I tell you Tunisia and Egypt is coming for this light situation were all the genes in ASO rock would be burnt and then we shall see how GEJ or whatever he calls himself would function without electricity to run the country i tell you one day go be one day over this light palaver that 9ja rulers have refused to sort out.

Even if it cannot be 24 hours at least start with 8 hrs a day and progress steady to constant light as it has now become an international embarrassment for 9ja. BIG SHAME!!!

Am not complaining o

LIGHT IN MY AREA ANTHONY VILLAGE HAS NOT IMPROVED. BECAUSE OF YOUR STORY I CALLED 15FRIENDS AND THE STORY IS THE SAME. ON A SCALE OF 1-10, I WILL GIVE NEPA -9.

@May 5, 2011 7:37 PM very funny on a scale of 1 - 10 1 means worse and 10 means good i would give nepa 0 means worse than worse. Linda babes which area do you live to see this light improvement? As in my area, it is really bad and there is only so much gene that you can use with all that noise and vibration huh i tire o o o when would this end? Anon May 5, 2011 10:57 PM; ha! ha!! Classic.

My people in Ikeja GRA have said electricity is a bit stable. They don't take it for days and there's usually electricity at night. They take it sporadically during the day but bring it back at night around ten pm. Same old, same old. It can be better.

Anon May 5, 2011 5:30 PM; why the beef?
