Naija is a fine country. Where's the pic of Surulere, Maroko, Ajegunle? Who paid for this PR? Lagos State Govt's Tourism Department or Fed Govt? Its good though. We, including me, must stop bashing 9ja. We've cleaned the streets, now let's clean 419, politics, and corruption in politics and the banking sector.

i get the logic behind nice pics of lagos and good on you for putting it on your blog. but this is a tiny % and if u consider the airport relatively. it is one of the razzest airports around. even the good sides you're talking about are for the rich and wealthy. which ordinary nigerian will go to any of these places??

fash for president! of course every country has it's good and bad parts...have u seen bbc showing peckham on tv? they only show knighstbridge and mayfair...what of new york..there r places in ny that r just so disgusting...lagos is ma citay!!!yes not everyone can have a wedding at civic centre...class egregation occurs in every part of the world but ppl just focus on nigeria cuz we r a developing country...and obviously that is bad. nigeria will change but it will take a very long time...it might be our grandchildren and not even us...it took america and other developed nations centuries to get to where they r...even with all the resources they stole from other continents and the slaves they took...it still took them a long time to achieve greatness...don't worry we'll get there...if everyone does their part well.

Forget about the slumps and the rest...it's all over the world. We know say our own dey somehow... but it will cdefinately get better. NAija will get better.I can't wait to see the day when all suitors all over the world would be queueing in front of my house asking for the hands of my litte daughters in marriage because she's a Nigerian...(and it will definately happen). I lu my country. Home sweet home. From now on, it will definately be getting better...God bless Nigeria! Next 20 years anniversary, hmmm, people all over the world will come and sing with with us 'E wa wo ohun toluwa se fun wa/2ce. E yi lo muwa dupe o...

Linda I understand the idea(feel good factor) but why not show something that's real a bit more balanced..It grates on me anytime we show this pics it's always round VI and Ikoyi..why not the other parts the nerve center of the state..there are some nice areas outside VI and Ikoyi u know!!

Me thinks we try too hard to portray Lagos like some of the world renowned Cities Tokyo-Madrid-London-New York-Paris..
Ignoring the fact that the underbelly is a catastrophe.. Infrastructure..Constant Power Supply..that's what makes a great city!!
Funny you didn't put up the MM International Airport this is the one place that gives an instant insight to a visitor on how structured the Country is..and you know that place is an eyesore!!
There's nothing we need to be ashamed off..we are a work in progress...
On a positive note Fashola seems to have done more than any other Gov in the last say 15-20 years..though I'm not a big fan of Personality Politics..'cos when they leave....TBC

love this images.Fashola has done a great job.''Now for the people hissing and complaining, have they been to Anacostia, NE DC, some parts pf Brooklyn, Harlem, Bronx, Queens, South Central LA, Brixton etc and a whole host of other places. I don't see them complaining about those places or does the US or UK project these awful places as part of their tourism? Do they even stop and ask themselves why why they are so negative about their own ?......I can go on but will stop Peace

@Annoymous, people like you live and die poor if Common Civic Centre is such a big deal for you to enter in your life time, stop hating on those who can. It's no one's fault that you're a broke ass. At your age, you've not made enough money to enter civic centre, shame on you. Linda, nice one, Lagos may not have the basic infracture in place in it's fullest, but we're gradually evolving and yes, there're still some good things about Lagos. We shouldn't always showcase the bad sides of our lives. Good job once again Linda! Some of you negative people need to suck on your PHDs (Playa Haters Degrees)!!

I think you're confusing 'not ugly' with beautiful. Yes, none of the photos are ugly, but that doesn't make them beautiful. Because we all have such low expectations of Lagos we rejoice when we see photos of streets that aren't dirty and crowded. In my opinion, we wouldn't have taken a second glance at most of these photos if they'd been photos of any other city in the world.

Yes!!. there are Ghettos in NY-Boston-Detroit..Council Estates in Peckham-Brixton-Hackney-Stonebridge to name a few but there's no denying the fact..they have Infrastructure-constant electricity and good roads in those places..and you never go hungry FACT!!..something so basic however happens to be the exclusive of only the "Rich" in Lagos..we still on the same page??..doubt it...I noticed it's those living abroad that want to delude themselves with this pics probably get to your work and say..oh..see we live like humans too..if it's so damn good..why don't you go back home..I wonder what someone who say lives in the mainland and toils in the excruciating heat in order to get to work on the island has to say..People crack me up...like those places never existed b4..if anything those areas have gone backwards until Fashola sorted a few things out..Imagine a residential area like VI and Ikoyi now nothing but an Urban Centre!!..Some of you would cry if someone were to put up Lagos before and After pics..This is as random as showing pics of White House and Buckingham palace..like the normal US-UK citizens get to savour those sort of places on a regular...it's meaningless to those who live there..Ask yourself how many Rich foreigners shun this places in Africa 'cos they know it's only a front..reason why they visit areas where the real issues are which we conveniently like to ignore..take care of the problems and we wouldn't even need to show this pics..you ever seen a Japaneese put up pics of Tokyo..the city's reputation precedes it!!..This is as useful as taking a poor person give them a makeover..posh meal in a swanky place and next day sending him back to his life of misery..We so conditioned to appreciating so little.....if anything Fashola started in all the wrong places show me Ajegunle-Maroko looking reasonably good then I would be over the moon..Eko o ni baje...still love the place..omo ile..where else can I claim!!

PART 2

Ask yourself how many Rich foreigners shun this places in Africa 'cos they know it's only a front..reason why they visit areas where the real issues are which we conveniently like to ignore..take care of the problems and we wouldn't even need to show this pics..you ever seen a Japaneese put up pics of Tokyo..the city's reputation precedes it!!..This is as useful as taking a poor person give them a makeover..posh meal in a swanky place and next day sending him back to his life of misery..We so conditioned to appreciating so little.....if anything Fashola started in all the wrong places show me Ajegunle-Maroko looking reasonably good then I would be over the moon..Eko o ni baje...still love the place..omo ile..where else can I claim!!

CASE STUDY 1
DOES MMA now have a CCTV, my daughters cereal was stolen at the airport while we were waiting for our luggage, right from my trolley...

CASE STUDY 2
On arrival on vaction, a man went to the loo before clearing immigration, slummed, there was no doctor, nor an ambulance to to take him to the hospital, God knows if he's still alive felt sorry for the wife.

CASE STUDY 3: Needed to refresh while waiting for my host, one morning after an overnight flight from the UK,popped in the gents at the arrival hall, the cleaner demanded money if i need the tissue...thank God I was'nt dying to do '#2'

The MMA is the worst I've ever seen through out my travel, from the moment you step off the plane...

nice pics but i'm still not going to ogle about it because we shouldn't be celebrating what is supposed to be our right. we are supposed to have very good and well managed infrastructures. besides, the bad and ugly outweighs the good so Linda its not enough. look at the USA, Obama is killing himself for them and Rolling Stone magazine tried to do what you just did, write/show the good side. the sign that he is busy and guess what......... Americans didn't give a fuck...they wanted more because they deserve more.
same goes for me and these pics...i don't give a fuck because i want more and deserve more as citizen of the federal republic of Nigeria.
