My observations at Omotola's album launch

Observation No.1...or you could call it my opinion...Omotola can sing. Don't bite my head off...it's what I think. She sang live and I was amazed at how powerful her voice was. I had to ask around to be sure she was really singing live. It was totally different from listening to her on radio and TV. She hit some high notes. But best of all was how much fun she had on that stage...she really loves singing so I guess she's here to stay. And like I always tell people, you have only one life to live, so do everything you want to do and don't care who disapproves or how stupid you look doing it.

Second observation: Usually when someone who belongs to an industry is doing something very important, (at least to them) colleagues from that industry turn up to support one of their own. There were lots of people at Omotola's album launch but I only saw a few people from Nollywood. Chidi Mokeme, Stella Damasus, Zik Zulu Okafor...and...can't recall seeing anyone else. I expected to see the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke, Ini Edo and the rest, but Stella Damasus was the only actress at the launch.
Whatta Gwan?

So Omosexy can sing? Maybe hey should stop with all the autotune on her studio songs.

As for colleagues, when the tables are 100,000 for each seat? Hmm...

maybe they were busy or they were just.....i won't say anything. let's just hope my second thought which i just stated is the real deal.

high notes? i guess she took our advice and went for voice coaching.

was the music any good? i don't buy music to listen to a nice voice. i buy it for a nice music.

Noticed it too! But maybe it wasn't their fault...perhaps Omotola didn't invite them?

that's sad that they didn't go to support...or were they waiting for invites? actually linda, genevieve is in the uk now...i actually saw her a few days ago on oxford street. i still don't think omotola can sing...only if she has done some training.

Linda like i always say when it concerns Omotola's singing career....people need to give her a break. I do not think she has the best vocal or necessarily have the striking voice but she definitely can sing and has a passion for it. Whatever happened to the likes of Rihanna, katy perry, and super auto-tune britney spears becoming famous yet lack the great voice?

As for the industry people not showing up, Linda stop acting so unaware....Omotola is like a stubborn mighty tree in the midst of tree fellers. Its always been that way with her and her collegues.

I say if you cant beat them....please stand apart and lead your world. Ride on OMOSEXY

Linda! did u say she could sing? Gbagaun! U need to work on the semi transparent membrane in ur ears. She is beautiful :yesssssssss, sexy :maybe..........talented in acting :yessssss but she certainly can't sing. But make she continue to try sha, God dey, may be one day....

My dear dont blame her colleagues for not showing up. Not every1 can afford a 1million naira table for mediocre (average at best) singing. Now if it were a Beyonce or Lady Gaga concert, you ll probably see a lot more faces.

was it worth the price per table? did u get freebies? did u take pictures? y are u hoarding gist na Linda? Give us gist abeg.

@ NINA- you're a big fool! What the hell are you ranting about?! mschewwwwwwwww
If Linda thinks she can sing then that's her opinion...no need to hurt insults. SMH
OMOT should just be happy that people showed up!

Well... I did not expect you to criticise Omosexy. It is only Eucharia Anunobi that you dislike so much.

Auto-tuned microphones can make even the worst singer perfect on stage as per the X-Factor allegations.

Omotola can only sing specific notes. She needs singing lessons. Even Cheryl Cole was not a good singer in the past... Free and cheap advice is hard to find.

@NINA, I support your comment. As for OmoLi calling NINA a fool... You are nothing but a wild nincompoop.
Nonsense! OmoLi ko OmoFool ni!

NINA said...

thx anonymous@1:13 dont mind Omoli or whatever she calls herself...Omotola is highly overrated...and almost appears desperate...i dont know whats goin on being a mother of 3 kids myself i wonder where she finds time to spend with her children...well i guess in naija there is domestic help...here in los Angeles there isnt..

Nollywood said...

Hmmm weird! Maybe there was some other event going on that night... Unless she isn't that close to any of them and doesn't support their endeavours when she is invited... That could explain it!

Then why don't you ask them Linda. You have access to these people. You are their friends on facebook as well. Why can't you ask them instead of speculating? It is high time you stopped your childish and catty style and stop creating nonsense when it is not there. Why did you not ask Omotola? Did you not go to the event? Is it because you are too lazy to do the work required or you just love living off the sweat of others. And why did you not point out the men that were not there? Do you not know who her publicist is? why did you not ask?

EntertainmentOb said...

Maybe she didn't invite them because she didn't want them overshadowing her event because sometimes too many celebrities in the room can change the focus of the event; perhaps she wanted to be the only queen bee in the room?

Additionally, like someone has already stated, one million naira no be beans o? You must really be serious friends on a personal level with someone or really believe in their dream to spend that sort of money so I am not surprised that she had limited A-level celebrities at her event. The stars that showed up are probably more personal friends than just industry friends. She is known to be a difficult person to deal with so if she isn't really beloved, I don't think they would support her and she herself might not want all that negative vibe in a room where she's trying to do her thing. Also, some of them could have been working on a project, there are many reasons why her industry members were NOT there to support.

Lastly, Linda I am sure you know that there is such a thing as lipsynching so please, don't tell us this woman can sing unless you heard what you wanted to hear. The most amateur of producers can make ANYONE sound good to the ears. I have heard her sing and the only place she should sing is at a karaoke bar OR in the shower.
