Photo: 200L student kills tricycle operator in Umuahia, dumps body in a ditch

The Abia State Police Command have arrested one Chinonso David Ibekwe, a 200 level Computer Science student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike over the murder of a 67-year-old commercial tricycle driver in Umuahia.

A statement issued by the Command's spokesperson, Andrew Enwerem,  said detectives attached to Central Police Station, Umuahia, swooped on the suspect after information received on July 1, about the missing Keke driver identified as Peter Alaebuonu Eseonu, of Ekenaobizi Umuopara.

The 25-year-old suspect from Ndiotu Ntalakwu, Bende LGA, gave a lead towards the recovery of the decomposing body of Eseonu in a ditch at Amuzukwu Umuahia.

He confessed to the crime while the decomposing body of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The suspect has been charged to Court and remanded in Prison custody.
