I beg to disagree with this. Having a girlfriend in the first instance signifies commitment. Hence, since you are committed to someone in a relationship, you actions and/or inactions afterwards can be classified as cheating. If you are not committed to anyone, then you can not be said to be cheating on anyone but the reverse is the case once you are committed. That being said, I completely agree that sex should only be matrimonial and all sexual acts before marriage should be discouraged rather than creating an avenue for it by saying it is not cheating. Basically, you can cheat on a girlfriend by going against the expectations of your commitment to her, not just by sleeping with other girls.
