Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia snubs president Buhari's family?

That is what Leadership newspaper is claiming. According to the report, the Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia this week side-stepped protocol by giving preference to former Vice President Namadi Sambo and his entourage of 15 family members over that of President Buhari when both arrived for the lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Saudi Arabia.
The Umrah is performed by Muslims from all over the world who converge on the holy city of Mecca to observe the ritual, which can be undertaken at any time of the year but mostly observed during Ramadan.
The pilgrims perform a series of worship activities symbolising the lives of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his second wife, Hajara.
Leadership gathered that both families arrived in Saudi Arabia this week for Umrah and while Aisha Buhari and her five children were allotted two-bedroom accommodation, the former vice president was allotted an eight-room apartment.

Leadership also learnt that while not a single protocol officer and vehicles were posted by the embassy to attend to the president’s family, a protocol officer and vehicles from the embassy were attached to the former vice president and his family.

An embassy source revealed that Buhari’s wife had travelled to Saudi Arabia via Emirate Airline instead of the presidential jet, as was the practice in the previous administrations, and had decided to seek alternative accommodation by herself at her own expense, to accommodate her and her children.
However, it was gathered that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provided an official vehicle to convey the Nigerian president’s family around as it is done for the families of all visiting heads of state.

The source further revealed that the consular-general, Ahmed Umar, still sees himself as being more beholden to the former vice president than anyone else because Sambo it was that was instrumental to his elevation and posting to Saudi Arabia. He still sees himself basically as Sambo’s protege, a staff member of the embassy told Leadership.

The source added that even the two-bedroom apartment allotted to the president’s family was a result of the efforts of the ambassador, Alhaji Abubakar Bunu, and not the consular-general.
While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in power, Buhari and his family were denied any privileges by the Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia, even those due to a former head of state because he was in the opposition.

Sambo and his family had last year embarked on a widely publicized Umrah.

Thanking God At All Times
Jul 08, 2015
Lifting up your hands and thanking God is spontaneous and easy when you have just received a wonderful blessing: “God, I can’t thank You enough for this miracle!”

“Thank You Father, for answering my prayer!”

“Father, thank You for the windfall!”

Perhaps you came close to being in a fatal accident, but God plucked you out of danger just in time. Or your grandmother, an unbeliever for many years, finally received Jesus as her Savior and got healed of a long-term disease.

But there are times when you don’t feel like lifting up your hands to thank and praise God, yet you do it. Perhaps you feel very discouraged lately. Perhaps everything is going wrong for you and you feel like your life is in a mess. You can’t hold back the tears. Yet, you make a conscious decision to lift your hands and thank God for being in the situation with you. You open your mouth and begin to praise Him even though you really don’t feel like doing it.

In the midst of the trial that you are going through, you praise Him that He is your righteousness in spite of all the mistakes you have made. You thank Him that He is your Prince of Peace, and that His peace will arise in you and still the storms in your life.

My friend, God sees and appreciates such times when, despite feeling so discouraged, you offer a freewill thanksgiving offering to Him. In fact, your thanksgiving during such times is more highly prized by Him than your thanksgiving during those times when you are feeling joyful because you have just been blessed.

And when you choose to thank Him for His unfailing love, and His faithfulness to deliver, protect and provide for you even when you don’t see the blessings yet, before long, you will find yourself experiencing and enjoying the blessings! So lift your hands and praise the Lord, for He is good, and His mercy endures forever! (Psalm 106:1)

Thought For The Day
God sees and appreciates those times when, despite feeling so discouraged, you offer a freewill thanksgiving offering to Him

Lesser hajj ko, higher hajj ni. You guys keep going to hajj and Jerusalem every year and yet your wickedness and dishonesty keep increasing. Who cares whether Aisha and the children were given toilet to stay in Saudi. The rate at which these modems filter away our hard earned foreign reserves in the name of hajj is really troubling. Do you know how many times the Atikus, Dangote, Tambuwalis of this country go to Saudi in a year thereby boosting the foreign exchange earning of Saudi while depleting ours. Shame on you all.

@goaldyn what is the nonsense you are saying...seriously, if the newspaper lied, and the saudi officials did not snub Buhari's people, wont Buhari's people tell him the truth of what happened?....mtcheeww!!

APC propaganda! If APC continues to attack the previous government, it will get to a point APC will lose popularity. At the slightest provocation, they will blame the previous government. They will always have someone to blame for their woes. It's not right.

Hoping to visit umarah someday $ Hajj that's for sure Insha Allah. All the best to the wonderful winning family as they perform their Umarah, may the peace of Allah be with them.

Abeg they should park well. What were they expecting?

Kachi said...

@ objective: thanks for your analysis. The article I guess wants to spur Buhari to swing into action in changing all the ambassadors and by extension other political appointments. Buhari is still working with GEJ'S service chiefs of which I'm sure the guys are already iching to go. So yes, PMB should appoint his loyalist make we hear word.
