You know how some people tend to look down at the police
forgetting they are human beings sometimes? Well this PRO named Aliyu
Giwa had something to say about it today which he shared on social
media. His thoughts below....
'Well my people, I guess u have me figured out, with so much to write about. I dont know the category y'all might have placed me, but nevertheless I seem to fit neatly into any category u place me in. I'm stereotyped, characterized, standardized, classified, grouped, & always typical. I'm that "olopa that like showing himself". From birth u teach ur children that I am the Ojuju (monster), and then you're shocked when they identify me with my traditional enemy. U may take an hour for lunch, & have several coffee breaks each day, but point me out as an hungry irritating police officer if you see me having just one cup.U pride yourself on ur polished manners, but think nothing of interrupting my meals at noon with ur troubles. U raise hell about the guy who cuts you off in traffic (some peeps Will say *see that useless driver), but let me catch you doing the same thing & I'm picking on u. You know all the traffic laws, but if you are caught "na beg go end am or better still settlement" no body want to go to court! (na just because of traffic! Na wa oh) some will say!. U shout *fowl* if you observe me driving fast enroute to an emergency call, but literally raise hell if I take more than ten seconds responding to your call!!! U call it "part of the job" if someone strikes me, but it's "police brutality" if I strike back.
U wouldn't think of telling ur dentist how to pull a badly decayed tooth, but u are always there to give me a few pointers on law enforcement (over sabi things).U talk to me in a manner & use languages that would assure a bloody nose from anyone else, but u expect me to stand & take it without batting an eye.U cry, "Something has to be done about all the crime!" but u can't be bothered with getting involved, the next thing u hear is *it's not my job*.U've got no use for me at all, but of course,it's ok if I take a bullet for u! or work many hours over-time to keep serving u. So My people,u stand there on ur soapbox & rant & rave about the way I do my job, calling me every name in the book, but never stop a minute to think that ur property,ur family,or maybe ur life might depend on one thing,ME, or one of my COLLEAGUE. #policeisyourfriend #NPF #police'

Yea it's true dat dey are some good guys but still u guys need to be reformed and if possible overhauled.
Much respect to this guy . More of this awareness . I must admit, am guilty of some and I feel bad for it. I'll start respecting well dressed police like this guy...their job no easy make we talk true...God bless NPF and its staff....and God Bless Nigeria.
Well said my friend but the bad ones in ur group are more than ur type- the "Good" ones.
Radarada. Back to sender. It is not your job, it is mine. You are not accounting for raiding innocent people, you are not accounting for "stray bullet", you are not accounting for breaking the law you are to enforce, you are not accounting for supporting touts and the "jandukus" because of "egunje", you are not taking responsibility of your decision to join the Police. I put rope for your neck to go and join or your umbilical cord was buried in the barrack? shior, u want to prove what now? Go and tell those that sent you that you don't meet us at home. "Bi a ba ran ni se eru"... obviously you delivered the message as a slave. Osi o da nile pako. Mo palu fun e

you know how many police vehicles beat traffic light daily on ozumba...or when u r always begging for 50 naira and 100 naira on falomo bridge at night...you guys ain't saints bro
You got a big point. Everyone needs to change
Nice writeup
Nice write-up! But that doesn't make them anyone's friend because they are not trustworthy!!
Man yi oni ri batise. Koni rona gbegba! Aunty Linda if there are no 'civilians' at Denton police station in Ebute Metta, the second to the DPO Edith Washington or so will send some officers outside to look for people (they call people customers). If people plenty for Denton, Madam Washington go laugh, and in the evening time, she will ask the officer in charge of 'Bail Money', - How man queens and kings? Queen means N500, while King means N1000. This is a reply to this idiot's -U pride yourself on ur polished manners, but think nothing of interrupting my meals at noon with ur troubles. Olorun maba ayo e je ni. Werey!
Too much time on your hands.nothing to say.
A Masterpiece...at least coming from a police PRO...but it still does not over rule the level of institutional corruption in the Nigerian Police Force
Oga police go and sleep joor, which police is my friend? O di egwu!

Nicely said! But too much have been perpetuated by them that I still can't stop stereotyping them! I see his side but there's more evil than good in that sector.. So Sir.. Kpele we do all that to y'all but we can't help it.. History precedes you!
He is one of the few reasonable Police officers we have in this country. Unfortunately, the bad eggs are much more than the good ones.
#TeamBlessed#
Yes! Nigerians are impatient and unreasonable sometime. But Nigerian Policemen do take bribes a lot and are always on the lookout to extort! Thats not our fault now, is it? The NPF should have a defined scorecard we can appraise them by!
Dope post 'Oga Olopa' :::TBbowne speaks:::
Nigga hush! If you are tired do yourself a favor and quit. This doesn't justify the criminal acts done with your uniform
Nice. Written from the heart, like a human(not Ojuju!)
Do more of this. At least you will feel better.
We appreciate you, believe it or not.
But just remember, every occupation/profession has its hazard.
Ok. Noted
So all dis noise way u just make na 2 cal attention mcheew ! Ur fada 4 dere , I no be ur friend abeg !!!
"Common sense" write up. Police officer Giwa you made a lot of great points. But we all want Nigerian cops to be smart ,well spoken, vast in human relations. We want to be proud of our NPF . I recommend trainings on human relations, the way you would approach a situation might be different because of your orientation and exposure ,many of your collegues do have problem with approach and self confidence, they should learn or do exchange programmers with U.S , UK etc.
LOBATAN - WHAT A WELL WRITTEN TAKE FROM ONE ON THE FRONTLINE!!
#THISPOLICEFITBEYOURFRIEND!
bitter truth lagosians will never accept
I've never laughed so hard. Much as I despise police, I must admits this was funny to read. Lmao

Your job is very demanding but you are not supposed to complain. You are not in any position to engage a civilian in fisticuffs even when he attack you first, you are to direct, control help and protect people not harass them. You are supposed to be a role model but you are not that is why you are called ojuju. I could write till tomorrow but I know you can expand this because you know so much but you just won't do what is right
Well said. #policeisyourfriend #NPF. #thankstoallthepolice for risking their lives for us
True to type..senseless rants.
Oga as much as I admire what you're trying to posit as a police PRO, the truth is that the police is not acting as a friend.
Ask your colleagues why their first thought is to indict instead of to exonerate. Any person who thinks that way can hardly be a friend. Go around your stations and around your posts and see how your colleagues treat your so-called "friends". Probably you meant to write this epistle to the private citizens who you and your colleagues are wont to respect not to the ordinary Nigerians that police hardly show friendship to.
Wondering what he is inferring though?
Taa gbafuo gi. I cant even begin to respond to all this trash. Who beat police? Which stupid response are you blowing siren and flogging both drivers and pedestrians to go and respond to? This write up is definitely not for us: we know you people, I nugo? Reserve it for ndi ocha, while you watch and learn from them! Police is not our friend!

Interesting write up I must say but Nigerian police, their over sabi too much.
Well, I love this write up...I must admit. Seeing through the eyes of the police. God help us all!
Mr. Police man go and face your duties and stop loitering here. The Nigeria Police Force is a voluntary organisation. That is to say that no body is forced to join. The Force like most other formations has its rules and regulations guiding its members. If you enlist, you must abide by those rules and regulations. Any person who does not want to do so, must leave the force. Therefore if you do not like the job any longer, please resign for millions who want it. Shape up or ship out you Straggler!
True talk my brother, I feel your pain...
GODs going to reward all your effort..
GOAT!
Story for the gods
Please i don't get o which kind notice me be this.....
Nahhhhhhhhh! After a terribly brain scattering experience wif d police today am coming back to dis.oga write d best epistle ever police has never,is not and would neva eva be my friend.
Police Can never be my friend but I'll like to be your friend Oga PRO!
Kai! That uniform no fit you o.
I have a job for this man please..... anyone with his phone number?
nice try #yimu
Nice piece, unfortunately, POLICE IS NOT MY FRIEND.
Nice write up. Honestly d usual street oga settle us d boys police literally made me forget most of them can speak a good english.
I pray to stay out of all sorts of trouble not because of the trouble makers - no matter their kind, but because I want nothing to do with the Nigerian police. No good morning, no how are you, no yes sir, no how work…. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They beat me up and left me half dead near marina bridge. I still do not know what my crime was, that friday early morning on my way to work, I was not driving, Id been dropped off and was walking the rest of the way to work clad in my designer suit. The Nigerian police are the reason I decided to move abroad, that singular incident that left me in an 8hrs comma at St. Nicholas hospital.
They are a pain! If they did their jobs well, people would try to be more law abiding. While blaring their sirens going for a mission, e.g, MOPOL, they break people's windscreens and flog road users. They pick people up at random not bothering to investigate. Do your job well and that respect you crave will naturally come!
Wey you, police, if I dey stay compound with you and me and you get quarrel, you nor go use your mighty police powers teach me lesson? You go do am the normal way when law agree with? If you rush me go one court if I commit traffic offence, weda I like to go court or not, when I pay the fine finish, tomorrow I nor go couple for the road, thinking say you fit dey there? Which way? Na clear eye una Oga take say make una comot road? E nor know the rubbish una dey do there? By the way, come back to the road and do better character o, because army don comot road o. We still get use for you. Hehehehe.
Rubbish write-up! Stereotyping the police is an understatement... the entire police force are bunch of criminals. Corruption is your middle name. Murderers! Wicked people... thieves! I hate you people with my body, soul, and spirit. I was robbed of all I ever worked for and when I went to the station the next day, the police demanded for 10k before they could come to my house- #50 distance for that matter. They didn't even think that I just got robbed. Taaaaah! Which police? Which friend? If I hear!!!
Fake PR stunt
I'm disappointed in all of you writing negative comments about this. First we know Linda sources for her gist from some site n the likes, she got this from his Instagram page which I'm sure none of you bothered to check. He wrote this on his page and she decided to share with all of us. No one is saying the police is your enemy or friend but if all you educated blog visitors joined the police force like this young man did, we may reduce the rate of corruption and inhumanity from the force. We all want to be bankers, lawyers, oil barons, yet none of us will apply to be a police man. If you so believe in this "police is your enemy" bants, make a difference, join the force and change it. Don't sit in the comfort of your homes and lament trash. We all have our personal experiences when it comes to the force but has that made them change? No. Because we are all waiting on the good Lord to send down his own army. I respect anyone who decides to join any force, it takes courage, courage most of us here don't have except we are behind an anonymous contributor. On that note, the police will eventually be our friend if we can wipe out the illiterate ones and replace them with 50% of the people who visit Linda's blog. Well done Aliyu Giwa....
I can understand why you would forget that they can speak a good English.
I really can.
*Faints
Follow this dude on Instagram to see more write ups! @aleeygiwa.... well he's smart though! But the NPF is so messed I most confess.
What kind of boring write up is this. Wow the kind of things some people do just to get noticed is alarming. Point of this write up exactly? Not interested *next pleaseeee*
No. This police man looks like he's educated. And his Cuteness doesn't hurt either 😉. But the police is not my friend.
If you really want to bring back the glory of the police force oga deputy PRO, then y'all have a long way to go. i pray you are reading this as well. You see all those miscreants you hire and put on the street with standard 6 result, they are the problem we have. Did you not hear about the police killing in CBN junction Karu Abuja? Two married police officers killing themselves over a girl and not to mention other incidences. So please flush them out and let them go back to school to refine their definition of life. So till then, Police isn't my friend biko.
As interesting as this master piece may sound, this does not change the fact that the Police are about the most corrupt in our dear nation. However, I will give it to this polished officer. I wish to implore him to educate his colleagues (those with evil tendencies), to change and think alike. If 40% of our police force will think as polished as the one expressed above, Police nuisance will be a thing of the past.
Your write up is cool but it ends there. One question for you, after these points to support the Nigerian police, can you compare yourself (the Nigerian Police) to the US or UK policing???? until your answer is a confident YES, don't come here to write anything again.
Bye.
Did he tell you he got employment letter on the 29th of April by Osinbanjo?? He's been a police since before una baba took over.
nice piece but empty....
what a joke.fake pro
Wait I didn't know there were police men who could speak proper English or even use the social media, have always thought them as illiterate, corrupt bastards. Nice PR stunt though.
hmmm handsome dude.. now our men in uniform are representing..
Oga olopa, oya wait, are you trying to exonerate yourself from this system cos I don't understand the essence of this epistle....... No disrespect for your profession, but trust me, the police have a lot of bad heads and it will take grace & prayer to be exonerated in your job not with this your over ironed uniform and spectacle wey be like shina rambo own.....
I am new here! Linda where is your bell of blessing?
Saying I never knew a Police officer could write such a piece is just like saying 'I never knew Ali Baba was that intelligent thought he was just a comedian'. That Officers you see out there are what the society churns out...
nice write up from a brilliant officer.
If you can't take the heat, leave the kitchen. Much as I appreciate what law enforcement agents do and the terrible risks they take often unappreciated, I beg to differ with the Deputy Police PRO. The police is definitely not any sane person's friend. Is it the accidental discharges, the raids that have left people (both innocent and guilty) dead in police custody, the plating of 'evidence' on people, whether suspects or not, constant intimidation and shakedowns? The list is endless. A young male, undergraduate neighbor of mine was once travelling back to school and that was the last he was heard of. He never made it to the school as was later confirmed. 7 years later, another neighbor went to see an incarcerated family member in the prison yard, only for his name to be spoken aloud by one of the prisoners, who lo ad behold was that young man who was missing minus an arm. Another young man came from the village to stay and serve an older cousin, who wasn't married but was comfortable. Some months later, the village cousin went to see some of their town people who sold cars on Western Avenue. While there, the police came on a raid, carried everybody there to the station on 'suspected stolen vehicle' charge. The next day, when they came to search for the young man, his corpse was on display in the station; 'suspected armed robber' complete with gun and bullets. The list is endless. Or can we talk of the numerous cases of drivers, conductors, ordinary road users who have been killed because of 'roger'.
Much as we appreciate the hazardous nature of their job, but please... The police have performed abysmally poorly.
Civilians get wahala tooo......nobody wants 2 obey the law @the end dey wil bllame it on police
Abeg get back to work and stop trying to beg for plaudits on social media. If and when you do your jobs we will post it on fb and twitter and praise you. Unfortunately na to dey siddon on top range rover, dey brutalise danfo driver over settlement na the footage wey we dey see. Go out there and catch a proper thief, or show up during an actual robbery and return fire for fire. We will cheer you na, instead I see a video of one of your boys brandishing his AK47 because dem no give am fish for him beer. In uniform o! Go and sit down and do you work jor!
@anonymous, ahaahahaha! How sacarstic...*wink*
Very dumb question..
Huh. I beg to differ. Many can speak well but I don't think most of them have a proper command of the language. In fact this write up surprised me however It's just ok, not good.
