This Sahara Reporters guy is soo rude and I've always said it. The way he talks like he is a demi-god baffles me. I heard him talk on Aljazeera last week or so, He sounds RUDE. Imagine, he even came with Hefy guys as body guards. Nonsense, he would have gone there alone na.

Tomorrow he will bounce to contest presidency or whatever, I WILL NOT VOTE HIM. Activist ko, activist ni.

I love this. If only Nigerians living abroad can be doing this to all government officials when they travel abroad for this type of meetings it would go a long way in reducing their travelling costs because then they would be reluctant to travel knowing that they will be humiliated. Another way of forcing them to cut costs.

We've seen how much he loves Nigeria *Clears Throat*. He should start by challenging his Local Govt. Chairman and State Governor. All these billions are also shared to States and LGA's, I'm yet to know why no-one challenges State Governors/LG Chairmen like this.

Look at that man (Samuelson Iwuoha) who was flogged mercilessly by former Imo State Gov. Ikedi Ohakim, has a position in this Rochas administration and he has kept quiet. Have you heard anything from him about the state? NO

Nonsense, everyone setting P in their way.Don't worry Mr Sahara Reporters, you will become Buhari's boy only if he manages to win next time. #Hiss

My dear brothers and sisters in the diaspora, disgrace our govt. reps well whenever they come on all these their wasteful trips. What are they there for? It is already a well known issue.

Did the Minister of State have to fly all the way to N.Y with her entourage with lots of money collected as estacode? Disgrace them well jo. Instead of them to sit their butts at home and do their work, yeye dey smell. They are always looking for ways to chop money. Oniranus

FANTASTIC!Best home video i've watched in 2012. i must commend the founder of Sahara reporter for what he did, i dont think he was in any way rude. if a lot of us where given the opportunity he had, we would have redefined the word RUDE! A govt that said it would cut cost sent a delegation to New York to explain the reason for fuel increment. To who? NIgerians or Americans? Am all for peace but then again we've been peaceful and quiet and where did that get us? Nigeria is a country where nothing functions, No good roads, No stable power supply,No effective educational system, How long shall we go on like this? GOODLUCK to you, GOODLUCK to me, GOODLUCK Nigeria!

Anonymous 10.26am is like your mum or dad is a top government official because if you are among the poor masses you will definitely feel the agony and mind you respect is reciprocal. If we don't treat them like that they will keep feeding us with "jagons". you shouldn't keep people waiting because you are a top official, that simply means you don't take your work seriously and the people you are leading. In the western world such shit doesn't happen, they keep to time no matter who is involved and that's why they keep developing and the underdeveloped states keeps under developing. we need a new order in Nigeria abeg.

People can hate on Sahara reporters all day, they are doing something that most nigerians are not used to, which is exposing and calling it as it is. Good job.

When one of them interviewed femi kuti regarding his father, of course, femi was so frustrated because they were questioning Fela Kuti's actions/motives. I'm glad, because Fela's political stand was rubbish, his personal life was also rubbish. Yeah, he can play the instruments, that's about it.

Nigeria failed and is failing her people. There's no pride in the national anthem, what is there to be proud of? Americans are this patriotic, take strong pride in this country, respect the national anthem because of what America have done for her people.

I have no respect for the Nigerian government until the government wake up, start doing the right thing for the people, then the pride and the patriotism will come. Until then, I will sit down well well, while the so called anthem is going on.

Thank you once again, sahara reporters.

@labellamafia,

Mr/Ms diplomatic, show us how it's done. Are you protesting or you have better plans on how to better the country, if not, just shut up.

Why won't sowore have bodyguards? So, naijas can attack him and kill him? When you live in a third world country like Nigeria, and you are standing against the corrupt government, you have to look out for yourself. Sowore, have as many bodyguards, even police to protect yourself. Security is very important.

He's doing what works for Nigerians. Do whatever it takes that will click to these people.
In America, they do what works for them, which is to be diplomatic, make your point without being lousy.
In nigeria, people won't take you seriously.

Sowore, thumps up. I wish i was there, I will do the same thing you did, with my bodyguards standing behind me. Don't trust Nigerians.

I am baffled at this video and ashamed of it. I sit watching and thinking about the million others that must have seen this video and i cringe. i am on nobody's side but i watch this from an unbiased perspective. Foremost I was a bit taken aback that the ministers or ppl in charge were sitting down for the anthem but then, i watch again and it seems the video has been fast-forwarded with a voice over laced on it, if you look closely, you would see that the 'MC' was speaking into the mic and yet no words were heard at 00:16 and oo:26. So this was edited by Sahara reporters.Maybe with the intention of making us all not see that, or maybe not. Now to the protesters and it's leader. I was highly disappointed. There are better ways for him to send forth his message without being so so disrespectful. He disgraced the very nation he was trying to stand up for. He was loud, lousy and absolutely immature. The crowning disappointment was watching him tell the US police that these men killed 20 people in Nigeria. Wow! Sowore, was that your way of looking good? Did you all notice how they quickly dispersed upon seeing the US police? i was expecting them to stand their ground and keep on shouting like kindergarten children. It was a good step to make their voice heard but to the way they went about it was so shameful. Calling them 'bastards and so on! Come on, you could have done better. Unfortunately for him, the officials behaved themselves and treated them like fools. I suspect he went with the intention of getting more drama from the others than he got! God bless Nigeria.

Anonymous said...

This defines our leadership, going beyond seating down while the national anthem was going on, wouldn't the honorable thing to do have been for the minister's details to have walked her quietly out of the room the moment the chaos started? And again I can't imagine what the case would've been if that was the Nigerian police.

Anonymous said...

A lot of politicians who rule us today were once based abroad. I know of several folks who just returned home to contest elections and if they win they join the party.

When they lose, they jet back to their bases. For me, this aint the way to do a protest to effect change. Its akin to the rowdy sections and commotions we all see in the Naija house of reps. I've learnt that people just resort to abuse when they fail to have sound logical arguements to debate.

For a long time, Nigerians abroad keep clamouring that govt neglects thm or fail to carry them along and when they now try to do it we hala. Nigerians are very difficult people as they can never be satisfied. Some of these people shouting change wine and dine with some of the very people we say are corrupt. Dont take everytin u see at a facial level cos it goes more deeper than that. I used to love Sahara reporters at a time but have come to hate it so much now because its now BIASED.

Put SOWORE and several of these critics in govt today and see if the change will come by mouth. Its very easy to criticise.

Anonymous said...

Shame on the ministers sitting down while the national anthem is going on. I'm sure they don't know the words to the national anthem because they only care about the money that they want to steal. CONVICTED CRIMINALS.

As of all the people criticizing sowore, they need to look deeper that rude or no rude, the point is we are tired of the government and they don't deserve any respect. It became crazy when they all came to attack him, it would have gone smoothly if they will let him speak. Nigerians are rude anyway, so he got to their level because they wouldn't have let him say anything if he doesn't shout at them. So, maybe not the best approach from sowore but he did what he had to do which is talk over them, throw out different things, etc.

The fact is, Nigerians are coward. The best thing we know how to do best is sit, gossip and criticize people that at least doing something. Sowore is doing better than ones who are sitting behind their computer criticizing all day. I went out to protest here in the US. Sowore, thank you for being bold, and I pray God will continue to keep you.

I know it's easy to criticise but we can't fold our hands and not criticize the govt. They failed us.

Anonymous said...

@Segisonline, please be quiet! So he should have written them a letter or what? Take off your rose-tinted glasses. Nothing short of things like this will do, especially since the Nigerians at home are spineless. I hope they come to Toronto for a "town hall meeting" soon. I am waiting for them!

This video is very shameful and disappointing!
FYI that Sahara Reporters video was obviously edited. It looks like the video was fast-forwarded with the anthem playing as backgrd music, if you watch well, the MC was talking but nothing could be heard. God forgive the editors though! It might not have been their intention 4 us to see it that way.
Sowoye was disrespectful, lousy and really immature. He is a disgrace to Nigeria to think I used to have respect 4 him. Looking 4 cheap fame! Just look at the crap he was telling the cops! That they killed pple in Nigeria? Who does that? I loved the way the officials went about the whole thing; twas really cool.
God bless Nigeria!!!

Segiisonline....i advise you to shut da hell up! Was that an effort to seem modest? #EPICFAIL

So all these gentleman gentleman we have been doing all these years, where has that gotten us to?!
There was more to this story, apparently the minister came late to the meeting, and didn't even apologize (same as she did in DC)...and yes, i noticed the voice skipping thing...but from the beginning u could see people standing for the national anthem and the so called officials were still seated.

Look, i'm sure u're very comfortable where u are...but the kind of civil unrest going on in Nigeria, and the way the government is so lax about everything is appalling. People are working so hard and still suffering/dying, while a few other like this minister just shows up from her fivestar hotel suite and air-conditioned limo over an hr late and unapologetic....to basically spew the same BS we have been hearing since ages! Biko, U can only do gentleman for certain people and be taken seriously. If this dude went there and spoke calmly, i bet u they would have bullied him out sooner and not take him seriously at all.

I usually, like peaceful dialogues...but lai lai...that aint working for these crooks at all.

When Fela was alive, a few like u called him all sorts because he was raw and said things like it was. Ironically, the saaaaaame things he was fighting for are STILL what we are crying about. Kilode sef?!

Sowere like i said, next time be letting people know of these sort of "peaceful protests" and i would love to come! With what u guys did, atleast these poeple will know that not all Nigerians are fools...and thankfully, this isnt Nigeria where they can use power to shut people up! Enough is Enough already!

The President should relieve these unpatroitic minister and her click of their appointmenrt. they were sitting down and playing with their phones and microphone while the national anthem was being sung. This marks a total disrespect for the country and President. They cant represent a country they do not respect.

@ Segisonline, sorry o! but it seems u never lived in naija and also that u ur self is very childish, it is not today that sowore has been doing this, even from the time of babangida, so its not today, mind u rather than staying in naija to solve issues there u are here doing town hall meeting for what? what was the conculusion from the meeting, let me tell you that the guy who paid for the hall paid $2300 for the hall(was even discounted cos $400 was returned tru employee discount) but was paid by the minister office for $10,000, moreover the minister cousin works at the hotel, does naija delta not need a town hall meeting? does kano not need hall meeting, why dc and townnewyork, it is just an avenue to steal money cos imagine speding $5000 on refreshement for the townhall meeting and u could only see deer table water there.
And mind you does are not bodyguards they were all nigerians living in newyork. not live u cowardly parents.

Did you Know that 90% of the attendees were from the east mainly her town peeps(from her state).
Hall $10000
Refreshment $5000
Parking tickets for attendees $1000
but guess what the hall was paid for $1800 employee discount
water was served tell me where would the remaining money go to?
the same thing happened in dc. what a wastefull spending.

You need to see her shopping in dc Wisconsin Avenue and also she claims to sleep in an hotel $2300 a night but stays with relatives and u can imagine estacode for her each day and her entourage.

the issue i see here or read here is that those complaing are more or less very stupid, it is just obvious they do not know Sowore,he was fighting against cultism back in 1990/1993. but was betrayed by malcom who delivered him to the cultist then bcos he was becoming to powerful then, back then they attack ur homes to let the whole world know that u were a cult member in sch. so its not today he has been fighting, so pls let know our history or ask when u dont know.
Did Labran Maku not sell out, gani stood his ground still he died.
people back home need more Townhall meeting than people in NY/DC

@ segisonline...i totally agree with u...bastards? really ur message wont cut across at all....

I was at the event. Everybody in that suite wanted them to protest but we did not want violence so nobody called cops till a very long time. They(protesters) had enough time to drive their message across but they were taking too long because others wanted to speak their minds too but they wanted to talk one at a time so that whatever was discussed will be recorded and some people did not want violence. The minister and her entourage stood up for the national anthem.Deaconess Yemi Fawaz(in red) was praying when they sat down. They would never do that. The video was edited but it might not be intentional to protray them as irresponsible. The minister composed herself as an intellectual and diplomat throughout the night. She even sang solidarity song with them at a time and later said she was an activist in her student days and as a member of ASUU- an Association of University lecturers. We are all Nigerians and we all don`t like how the country is being governed. Boko Haram terrorists and oil subsidy removal were top of the concerns everybody who spoke one after the other wanted the president to address.May God help Nigeria. The meeting ended peacefully and productively close to midnight.

May God continue to bless Sowore Omoyele, thank you for standing up.
These government officials/ministers are truly despicable, pathetic human beings. There's nothing nice to say about the officials or about Nigeria. The people who are still defending these corrupt leaders, these fools that ran Nigeria into the pit must be bastards, fools themselves.

NIGERIANS, STOP BEING SUCH COWARDS, STAND UP AND NOT ONLY OPEN YOUR BIG MOUTHS TO CRIITICIZE. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE OR GOOD TO SAY ABOUT WHAT SOWORE IS DOING, JUST DO EVERYBODY A FAVOR, SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Whoever made and doctored this video just committed Treason. I am sorry to say but anyone that watched this video and did not notice that the national anthem was pre recorded on events that were happening, with the sole purpose of embarrassing a Professor and a minister is completely illiterate. That grown educated people cannot differentiate btw fact and fiction only tells us where our young Nigerians are headed. The boy was completely rude and ignorant and i am embarrassed that Nigerians will allow such a person fight for them. I urge all to watch this video again and notice that this video was doctored and a complete fake. Sahara reporters have lost integrity with this one and I hope they burn for this one. Linda pls always post the truth on your blog

I laugh soteeee my pant almost wan fall down. This reminds me of those Unilag Aluta days with Sowore and the others. How time flies.

Maybe we need to do more of this to get our leaders thinking.

I only wish Nigerians will extend this clear eyes when voting, so that we can elect the right people who will move us forward

Can you imagine the people on the high table sitting through the national anthem? I'm shocked!!! Were they ignorant, stupid or what????

Paul said...

The ministers are sitting down because a prayer seems to be going on, and the national anthem is pre recorded.

However, Nigerian officials have NO credibility for me to defend them. They have failed in general. Whether the video is accurate or not, what is seen in this video is not far from the facts and the truth of what is going on in the government. So, what are nigerians complaining about?

For those who say Sowore is not the best guy to fight for Nigerians, can you guys do everybody a favor to tell the BEST GUYS to get their butts up and fight for Nigeria the best way. Until then, if this guy is the only one who have the audacity to stand up in his lousy way, then let it be. It's better than nothing.

This is the definition of ''Activism'' I never knew Nigerians could be this couragous. Love this so much. More power to ur elbows guys.

Anonymous said...

Nigerians don't like to bell the cat so far we are benefiting from the situation. I give the guy kudos. He and his friends stood alone and d minister(s) could not even stand up for once or cough an apology or even say something.TOO BAD!
It shows that we have rulers in public offices not leaders!!!
Isn't it interesting how the American Police handled the situation. We have a long way to go Naija. WE ARE LIGHT YEARS BEHIND

Impressive outing, Sowore. For starts, the minister and the other 2 officers should be relieved of their duty for the being so unpatriotic....... Sitting down when the National Anthem was being sung. Mr President...we wait to see what disciplinary act you will demonstrate. Are these the type of officers you breed and ambassadors you send out?!

The House........ Waiting to hear you speak!

We av been encouraged to pray for our corrupt leaders instead of cursing and stoning them, our mouths have been sealed up for too long, and so our corrupt leaders gallivant with impunity. It is high time we encouraged confrontation and public booing of the political thieves. Maybe this will make them have a rethink.

There is nothing wrong in confronting corrupt leaders if the environment is so enabling!
May God resuscitate and recover the dead and stolen land.

Unknown said...

Good work! Thank you for doing what some of us cannot and will not do.

Why will you want to be polite and official with thieves? Be rude to those who are rude-no polite protest has been taken seriously in Nigeria.
