It was the day after my acceptance into Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja. I scored a very high score, and of course I was on top of the world. My father was away on a business trip to Thailand. He told me he was going to get me something very special. I was so excited, and could hardly wait.
He arrived safely few days after, with a brand-new Nokia N95 phone. The only problem was that it was a CHINKO, a Chinese model, a COUNTERFEIT!!
I smiled, jumped excitedly and pretended to be head over heels in love with my new toy.
As is the fashion with all young girls my age, I called all my friends and told them i got a brand new Nokia. I was truly the envy of my gals!
One day, we all went to the cinema to watch a movie. We were also hanging out with some cute boys from school. Before long, my phone started to ring in a very shrill, very loud manner. I was so embarrassed, especially when everyone in the theatre turned back to look at me and my screaming gadget. I wanted the ground to open up and just swallow me. I quickly picked it, hoping It would be a quick call, one that wouldn't demand many replies. Unfortunately, it was my mum, and she had a lot to say. Her voice sounded loud and clear from the handset, and if I was white, I would have blushed tomato- red lol!
My friends all the while were just staring at me in disbelief, taking some time off from their Blackberries to gape at me in shock. It was a horrible experience, one I'm not in a hurry to gi through again.
I switched to a 3310 phone, deciding that it was better, and indeed safer for my reputation.

hmmm counterfeit?? shall I ever forget my NEC phone?! no! cos thats the reason i will never set foot in computer village again.

2006: I had just bought a Sagem X "camera phone" and was feeling really upgraded until I got to work and saw my colleague with this cooooool Sendo (remember that brand?)so my greed stepped in and I swore to get the phone. Thats how I started looking for who would buy my Sagem and finally i sold it to one baba who used to do our laundry for half the price I got it! Off I ran the next day to the much talked about computer village...I held my bag like a proper jjc making it really obvious that I was protecting something. I had made up my mind to spend not more than 30mins there, I spent 20! I got to a certain 'stall' and before I could ask for the Sendo that brought me there, my eyes caught this sleek looking remote control-like phone, NEC! I loved it at first sight and I quickly paid without negotiating much. Oya na, I reach house, put battery and phone no gree come on, I charged it the whole day and it eventually came on....I went straight to the multimedia and saw photos of oyibo pple in a house party! Checked the videos and all sorts of were in it! so obviously phone was second hand and I paid the price of a new one! ok I cld deal with that...I looked into the pack and realized that the phone came with over 4 "charge and quench" batteries! I wld get one call and battery would go flat out! All the original features of 'normal' NEC phones were missing in my precious remote control. Have I mentioned that the phone was constantly on vibrate cos the ring volume was scary! The big blow was when one day I was charging the phone, it got sooooo hot and next thing I heard was a funny sound and the phone passed away! never came on again! The charger wasnt even NEC, it was some other name!

Hello everybody, my name is Patience U. I am posting here for d 1st time.

i had a phone that was fake because it was not real Nokia. Erytime I take picture with it the picture will not clear. Then I was in class using recorder to take voice recording but it will come out like whooo whoo not clear. The ringing very clear but very loud and uncoordinated.

In fact I am embarassed. I am going into my last year at Uni of Uyo faculty of exucation this year and I want to win so that when I am graduated I can have it as present from Linda Ikeji and Nokia phone people.

God bless you

This happened in Umuahia, Abia State way back in 2005 when Chichi phones hadn't gained much prominence. My Dad had said one day that he would be buying a phone. When he came back that day i excitedly went to meet him in the car. And he came out with a box the size of car tissue pack. And on it was the label, Nokia N95 16GB! My eyes opened wide in amazement.

I just kept quiet and was asking myself what got into this man that made him to go for such a high-end phone(which I was sure he would only use for calls and sms!).

We went into the house and unpacked the box. Out tumbled the flashy thing. I turned it on,but instead of seeing the normal Nokia handshake,I saw an indian-like lady jumping up like a ballet dancer, accompanied by one hell of a noisy tune. I knew my Dad had fallen 'mugu'.

I did 'star hash 0000 hash'. It didn't bring up Nokia model and version. I asked my Dad how much he bought it and he said N16,000. I said yeah, that's it. N95 wasn't less than N65,000 as at then.

I removed the battery, and instead of seeing Nokia label, I saw ZTE! I had had enough. I told Dad that we're going to return the phone immediately. He wanted to behave like a gentleman. I almost dragged him to the car.

Eventually we went to the seller, who wanted to act funny. I had to call a friend who works with the SSS who threatened to arrest him before he eventually agreed to give us a full refund.

And you know what? We couldn't even send common SMS with the crap. Always bringing up funny Chinese characters. And when I checked the memory capacity, what was supposed to have 16GB had only 30MB!!

Wow. Let me share my story with you guys. The title of my story is "Do not shake".About four month ago i bought a Nokia c7 though at first the phone was very good and all but it Got to a time when i put it in my pocket before i check it would have shown "phone will restart" then i would like is the phone crazy, does it want to be troubling me. The embarrassing part is that when i drop my phone on the desk,my friends not knowing the phone problem would just take it and starts turning like a normal phone before they check the screen they will see "phone will restart"so i told them please do not shake. Handle it gently. So whenever they want to use my phone is either they use handkerchief or handle it like a break able plate. Its a true life story. If i win the competition i would show you the phone.

in that year, the Nokia 5330 DSTV

thinking it had the same DSTV function.
On a certain day, I saw my friend who
had the DSTV phone and was showing
off with it, I also told him ‘guy me sef get

wanted to see it sha, when I brought it
out he had a BIG LAFF, I was so
embarassed mehn. The phone had a big
antenna and the stations were not even
clear. Though I enjoyed the phone for
some months, later the phone got
spoilted…anyways my friend gave me
some money which I added some more to
get my own Nokia 5330 Phone.

It was my my sister's wedding and I was the bridesmaid. While I was running around to perfect the day's beauty, I mistakenly left my new blackberry phone on the bed where I went to quickly take my sister's make up kit.
Some hours later, after the church wedding while we were headed to the booked hall for the reception, I realized my phone was missing. i was really troubled, my mind immediately began doing some calculations. Never knew how absent minded I was until my sister gave me a very hard tap on the shoulder.
"yes,yes"
I answered her startled.
"What do you think about this" My sister asked me
She tapped me again when she got no reply.
"Enny!What is the matter?"
Ehn,Ehn, Nothing, I mean something,my phone,My phone is missing" I stuttered unbelivably
"I think I left it when I went to take your make up kit"
There was no way I could go home to check. so we Simply called Sola, our younger sister who had gone home earlier to pick the souvenirs to make sure the room properly was locked.
After the wedding, when i got home,I was happy to see the phone at the exact spot I left it, but it was switched off. I turned it on and a very loud and rather shrill sound welcomed me.It was been replaced by a 'Chinco' phone,a china prototype!
"Jesus!" I shouted out aloud unable to believe what I was seeing.
I rushed outside to exclaim, everyone lamented with me but there was nothing they could do.
Meanwhile, before my sister's wedding when I told my friends I had bought a blackberry phone, they were very happy and at the same time anxious to see it.They wanted to see what my 'big girl' had bought because blackberry phones were not common then.A day before the wedding, two of them had called me for my pin which I couldn't give them because I was deeply involved in my sister's wedding running around.
A week later,I was in their midst and after the whole fun, they asked for my pin and I just didn't know what to say lest I looked like a liar. Just then,My phone rang out loud, such that I became everybody's focus, even other people I never knew.I never had the chance to tell them about the stolen phone till I found myself in their midst.
It was so embarrassing such that I wished the ground could open up and swallow me!
They were surprised and merely exchange stares. Needless to say they never asked for my pin again. The whole outing became boring afterward and an hour later,I coldly bid them farewell and I imagined them looking at me pitifully.

This story is so embarrasing, i cant still believe im gonna tell it. Na Nokia Smartphone fit make me do such sha. It happened like 5yrs into the launch of mobiles in Nigeria. I had saved heaven and earth to get moi that hi-tech polyphonic nokia fone to opress my guys n babes in the class with (thats wot was in vogue in d day). Told a friend bout my quest and he told moi to go directly to solt, ikeja for the original version of the device. He also warned me bout the computer village scammers, that sell u encased pap, fufu or eba instead of the real phone. i always believed i was so smart, nobody could scam me and sort no tuntil i got to ikeja that day. I was jejely headed towards slot when i saw theres guys standing by the side of the road flshing cool BB. Immediately, the tot of slot leaf my brain and immediately i want to bargian price. we bidded and after a while they agreed to my price which was so low compared to the standard price of the device. Immediately, tested d device, bluetooth, camera, ball and it ws all good. Pay the due and that was where i fcuked up, he said he wanted to pack the phone in its pack for moi. Xcited much, i naively handed it back to him, he rapped it and off i went. I bod'd a bus going back to the mainland and as i sat, something within ws so anxious to play with my new device. i opened the box, brote out the fone but it wldnt come on, i tried and tried but all to no avail. It was not until i removed the battery i discoverd a large mold of eba in it. Tears immediately roled down my eyes (was much younger then). i had been duped. i jumped of the bus, headed back to the spot where d guy was but it was as if he had rapture. My life savings gone in the blink of an eye. But i learnt a lesson dough, scam them be4 they scam u. And since that day forth, i became wise. Thats my xperience with counterfeit. It nokia all the way now..

It happened late last year and i cant forget it in a hurry. I was so unfortunate to have board a bus from Oju-Elegba to Idumota and was robbed by a "one chance" gang. After that unfortunate incidence, i retrieved my lines and was 'phoneless' for abt two weeks before my brother gave me a NOKLA (not Nokia)which is a two sim phone. I inserted my newly retrieved two lines and i was on again. The very third day, i want to use the toilet and the pumping machine is faulty, i have to fetch water downstairs and i left my NOKLA phone on d tank lead. On my way up i heard the phone riging cuz it was very loud, on entering the toilet,d vibration of the phone has made it to move to d tip of the lead tank and i rushed to save it from falling into d water closet bowl, i threw away the water but that is not enough to save the phone from going down. i tried to remove it but it has blocked d flush passage. Just a week after retrieving it, i was at MTN and ZAIN office again for retrieval. It was such a messy situation cuz the vibration of the NOKLA phone can wake up a dead man !!
