England-based Nigerian forward Victor Moses yet to be cleared by FIFA to play for Nigeria

Victor Moses watching from the bench as Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 4-0 during the African Cup of Nations qualifying match in Abuja on March 27, 2011.

Nigeria announced on March 25, 2011 that England-based Nigerian forward Victor Moses, who plays for Wigan Athletic, will not play in March 27's Nations Cup qualifying match against Ethiopia in Abuja as FIFA is yet to approve his application to switch allegiance to Nigeria after he featured for England at Under-17 and Under-21 levels. But Nigeria plan to line him up for today's friendly match against Kenya. I hear he's a very good player, so watch out for him!

BTW, Victor's parents (who were Christian missionaries) were killed in Kaduna during one of those Muslim/Christian clashes in 2002 when Victor was just 11 years old. He was relocated to the UK by other family members immediately after his parents death.

FIFA is such a dud organisation. This should not cause a delay but FIFA deliberately sits on important matters and lets Blatter spew out drivel. Will it take them one year to approve his switch? He’s an okay player and comes on more as a substitute for Wigan.
