Another Unilag student killed

Ayodeji Babatunde Sonoiki was an extra year student of History and Strategic Studies. He was shot dead on Friday night Feb 18, 2011 outside the school's campus, around Iwaya area, Yaba, while out drinking with friends. Ayo was 22 years old and has since been buried.

May his soul RIP.

Ayodeji, you lived in my area and though we never talked you seemed a good kid.All this talk of you being in a cult or out drinking with friends just doesn't fit you script.Anyway, its a shame it all had to end this way and I hope others will learn from your death and parents pay closer attention to their kids when in university.
Cults dont pay.The campus is just a small world.Wait till you graduate and start looking for a job. Then you'll know what it is to be a man.
Anyways, dont know where you are,but rest in peace.Your family sure will miss you and so will I cos you were a good footballer.Rest well kiddo.

Some people will come here to say there are no cults in Unilag. I remember being upbraided by some ignoramus who said because she walked around safely at 10pm, that there were no cults in Unilag. Laughable! Unilag has always been and will always be a haven for secret societies. It’s the Metropolitan nature of its environs and the state at large that masks the whole menace. May he rest in peace. 2011 is still new, yet so many deaths!!

Another promising young person killed for pointless reasons. How sad. I pray his family and friends are given the strength to go through this trying period. In Jesus name, Amen.

desist from cultism ! live by the gun; you die by the gun, if he really was a cultist, i hope others can learn from this and avoid selling their souls to the devil !

It's truly a sad event considering that he was killed over a lousy arguement about football. No Ayodeji was not a cultist, he was killed by cultists in a case of mistaken identity who mistook him for his friend that was at the bar with him that dissed the cult member. About him drinking, i think he's old enough to make those choices so no one should judge him or his character as a result of that. Please let's all try not to judge people especially when we dont know them. May his killers be found and paid back in their own coin and his gentle soul RIP.
