Develop your career at Salford Business School

Hear from one of our students about their time here and why Salford Business School could be the perfect choice for you.

Oladapo Fredrick Ogunoye was a Dealer Management and Credit Control Analyst in Etisalat, a leading Telecommunication Company in Nigeria.
He was managing the company’s 500billion US Dollar trading dealers with his manager. Oladapo worked with the company for three years before deciding to take on the MBA programme with Salford Business School looking to develop his skills for career progression.

Here, we talk with him about his time at Salford Business School.

Why did you choose to study at Salford?

I was looking to progress my career and wanted a reputable skill development programme and an experience that would give me a competitive advantage in the career world. Manchester is a great place and the university offers a really warm welcome.

The university was offering full tuition scholarships but we needed to compete for the limited number of spaces. I won the scholarship, the only Nigerian to do so.

What was your highlight?

I enjoyed the Business Innovative Live Project (BILP) the most. This took place during the last semester for three months. It was work based and it gave good experience to enhance my CV. It allowed for creativity and development of new skills and I finished with the highest scores in the semester. This option is available across all postgraduate programmes in the School.

What are you doing now?

I always wanted to be Professor in Business Management ever since I was in college. During the MBA programme, I was able to develop the necessary research skill needed for the doctoral research programme and built up good contacts within Salford Business School. My main PhD supervisor has been very supportive and encouraging. I shared my career dreams with her and she has been piloting my every step.

Would you recommend Salford Business School to others?

I have already recommended the University of Salford to several people who asked for my opinion! I came to this university for personal development and career growth; and I’m achieving these. The admission procedure is easy and clear; the library is well stocked with books and on-line journals and the student-staff relationship is excellent.
