Demand for Qatar to shut down Aljazeera is unacceptable and a threat to media freedom - United Nations

United Nations human rights chief said the demand by Saudi Arabia and three other Arab nations for Qatar to close down its al-Jazeera TV channel is an "unacceptable attack" on the right to freedoms of expression and opinion.

Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein said this on Friday after Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates imposed a boycott on Qatar three weeks ago, accusing it of backing militants, then issued an ultimatum,
including demanding that it shut down a Turkish military base in Doha, shutting Al Jazeera and curbing ties with Iran, Reuters reports.

U.N. High Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein is "extremely concerned by the demand that Qatar close down the Al Jazeera network, as well as other affiliated media outlets", his spokesman Rupert Colville told a news briefing.

Colville continued: "Whether or not you watch it, like it, or agree with its editorial standpoints, Al Jazeera’s Arabic and English channels are legitimate, and have many millions of viewers. The demand that they be summarily closed down is, in our view, an unacceptable attack on the right to freedom of expression and opinion."

This is my conspiracy theory...

Ladies and gentlemen, please try to read between the lines. The sudden "attack" on Qatar has more to do with it's hosting rights to the FIFA 2022 World Cup than with anything else. The West desperately would want to host this tournament. What with the HUGE economic benefits that it presents. Recall that the UK lost the hosting rights to the 2022 World Cup to Qatar thus triggering a massive backlash on FIFA executives that literally swept them all out if office, including Sepp Blatter the FIFA President.
The plan here is to paint Qatar as a nation that supports terrorism, that has ties to Iran a sworn enemy of the West and Israel, and a country unsafe to host an international tournament of the magnitude of the FIFA senior world cup. Almost every country of the world is guilty of supporting terrorism overtly or covertly, including the West.
Recall that this was a similar tactics used against South Africa leading up to her hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2010. There were many reports of xenophobic attacks that were secretly orchestrated by the West to create the impressions that blacks are generally savages and that an African country couldn't host such a big event. The rest they say is history as South Africa went on to put up a beautiful show that is yet to be rivalled on many fronts.
We are still 5years away from FIFA 2022 World Cup. I predict that this is just the first of a series of attacks on Qatar to sway the minds and opinions of the world and decision makers on the hosting rights of Qatar to the world cup. Just watch out!
