The Chief Imam of Apo Legislator’s Quarter’s Jumat Mosque, Sheikh
Muhammad Khalid, has cancelled the special i’tikaaf prayer normally
observed by Muslims during the last 10 days of Ramadan in that Mosque.
I’tikaaf is a special prayer offered my Muslims during the last 10 days of Ramadan.During that period, a Muslim is required to retire to the Mosque and remain in seclusion solely with the intention of offering prayers and supplication to Allah.
Mr. Khalid announced the cancellation of the prayer in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said the move had become necessary following increased insecurity in the country.
He added that, “everyone can testify to the fact that insecurity is becoming higher; bombings have become the order of the day in the North, especially in the North Eastern part of the country. We need to join hands with government to do whatever we can possibly do in our capability to tackle it headlong. However, it is a very difficult task to tackle because of the faceless nature of the Boko Haram members that have been terrorizing Nigeria.’’
Khalid urged other Imams not to allow the special prayer in their Mosques so as not to jeopardise the security of potential participants.
He said that allowing people to gather in the Mosque for the special prayer was not safe and called for attitudinal change by Nigerians in order to move the country forward.
He urged the Federal Government to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths to avoid restiveness, stressing that “providing employment for the youths will take them off the streets.
“Taking the youths off the streets will go a long in reducing crimes and criminality in the country.’’
The chief Imam said security was a collective responsibility, hence it should not be left in the hands of government alone.
He advised security agencies to intensify their intelligence gathering to enable them to overcome the activities of insurgency in the country.
He said “security agents should be able to know the flash points in the areas affected by insurgency and how to overpower them. Knowing the flashpoints will go a long way in making security agency’s task easier and more effective.’’

All you stupid people running your mouth about Islam. has it occur to you that Jesus Christ perform ablution and pray? has it also occur to you that it is in the bible and Jesus said I am not the Lord do not worship me?... I hope this help your ignorance as Christians. start reading your bibles. stop Judging others, when we get to heaven then we shall know who serve God. Till then I think we should all stop judging and have good mind.

With d present bombing of mosques, I think dis is a wise idea, welldone sir..
It's mind boggling how funny some Nigerians can be.So many insensitive people were of the opinion Boko Haram was being used by northerners to unsettle GEJ.Today we know better. We had better ignore those trying to politicise this matter & come together as one nation to support our govt.& our troops.Let's put the mistrust behind & think & reason as one.Umu nnem ndi Igbo.sa nu anya unu.
This isn't to say what is happening is right but i just want to let this out. I think for those judging Muslims and islam as a religion because of these violence and killings should do a research, there was a time where Christians were the ones terrorising the world, Christianity had a long run as the world's most violent religion but all these killings are in the past, all you need do is Google it, it's a fact. What is happening right is sad and inhuman and am sure God sees all, sometimes I wonder why these is happening. I'm a Muslim and no1 is happy when his/her religion is associated with violence. I'll advice we take it easy with the way we judge cause God is the best judge and some go as far as insulting God. I pray we are not judged with the same measures we judge. May God heal our land and put an end to it all.
good for them.....pls click on my name

Lol.una never see anything...ohhhhhhh just because they have started bombing the mosque, that's why drastic measures are been taken???? He who kills by the sword, dies by the sword. Useless people!!!!
Dis precaution is very nice to avoid any further attacks frm d nunisance called BH. Indeed prevention is better than cure.
Prophet Shima danced in circles and jerked uncontrollably, his dreadlocks and his movement reminded one of Bob Marley in a concert. His white garment exposed his dusty bare feet from time to time.
"Kneel down! Jah tells me that you will soon marry but you should not have a big wedding, make it a secret because your destiny does not like big celebrations, if you disobey me, you will die on your wedding day".
Kemi was 23 years old when she got this prophecy from their family prophet and from that moment on, she made up her mind to never have a big wedding although it was what she really wanted. She was afraid of what the prophet had said.
Two years later, she met Gbenga. He was everything she wanted; handsome, charming and Godly. 6 months into their relationship, Gbenga proposed and Kemi was ecstatic but also afraid because Gbenga was an extrovert and he had many friends. He had started talking about 10 grooms men and hiring a hall that could accommodate 1000 people.
Kemi had to tell Gbenga about the prophecy and he laughed so hard that she looked very stupid. Gbenga opened his bible and began to explain to Kemi that God wanted weddings to be celebrated except in an event when both parties could not afford to celebrate their union with their loved ones but NEVER out of fear. Gbenga reminded her that Jesus' first miracle recorded in John 2 was at a wedding.
Gbenga told his intended that they needed to pray and fast to cancel any negative proclamation and they did. The day came; Gbenga and Kemi married in grand style. It's been 5 years and they are blessed with two beautiful children.
Every decision you make will either be from fear or faith. The devil wants you to live in fear! Why have you not changed your car after 5 years even though you can afford it? You are afraid of what people will say and that they may steal the car. Why have you not gone on your leave from the office in 10 years? You are afraid that someone will take your job before you come back.
Fear and faith work alike. Fear is confidence in the devil while faith is confidence in God. Fear will damn you to a lifetime of pain and sorrow while faith will cause your joy to explode every day.
The bible says about fear in Job 3:25 (NIV) What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. Your fears will come true if you believe them while the things you have faith in will also come to pass.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) tells us: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Fear is of the devil, faith is from God. How will you live your life from now on? Will you believe the lies of the devil or believe the word of God? I bind every spirit of fear in you from now on in Jesus name, let faith rise up in you. Amen
