"Nigerians have compiled the cost of the damage to their property and it is totalling about 1.2 million Rand or N21 million, which will be sent to the Federal Government for further action. The Nigerian mission in South Africa is on top of the situation. We are working hard to protect Nigerians in South Africa. Though the task has not been easy but we are trying our best. In one of the hot spots at Jeppe, near Johannesburg, the mission assisted about 50 stranded Nigerians to re-settle. I have also visited the site of the attacks in Johannesburg to assess the damage and it was enormous. I am bringing all Nigerians together so that we work out a vigilance and alert mechanism; they will also tell me what their challenges and issues are" she said

South Africa must surely suffer dis stupidity one day
This is disheartening and I feel so pained that our govt is silent about this and no action has been meted out to S.A
They've been 'on top this situation' for a few days now, nothing positive seems to be happening.

This xenophobia mentality has gotta stop. By the way, it seems S.A govt supports this menace sincr none of those killers n looters have been arrested n the security operative seems handicapped
I have just boycotted MTN and my DSTV subscription renewal is hereby suspended forthwith! We will protest in a civilised manner against xenophobia!
God would punish these people
udieblessing@yahoo.com
And yet the President of the SA sit and watch them doing all this stupidity. Even their security agency's allow them looting foreigners
Really sad
I'm struggling to get this. 1.2 million rands is equivalent to 21 million naira...
That is a huge amount of money!! Probably someone's life savings, up in smokes because of the ineptitude of some lazy ass cockroaches.
Huge loss.
ok, at least something is being done, but can they reach out to the more remote towns to help more Nigerians from the psychos
It's really a pity .
And our government is still saying it hasn't gotten worse.
Only God will help our people over there.
They should still relax there.
Igbo man don quickly go compile fake damages. These people and money matters tho! I thought they have been bragging that South Africans have not touched Nigerians? No settlement for you thieves. Go home or wait till the matter dies down.
WHY XENOPHOBIC (poem)
Africa Africa, Africa the land of unity
Oneness and favour, living alike among others
Why are we drawing sword of death
Against our fellow black citizens
Creating fragment and friction among
Our unity, fighting for no just cause
Xenophobic on fellow blacks oh! South Africa
Looking at Africa with a deep sorry
Where there vision of unity sinks
In the hand of back apathy against black
Xenophobic killing on one another why?
African unity is for all to live in one
South Africa, Nigeria all is one in unity
Why xenophobic, why burning and killing
Come in peace, come in unity oh! African union
Arise to make peace rain and rescue the image of Africa

Dear Nigerians at home. We are a very hospitable people and we welcome foreigners to live peacefully in our midst. Nigerians are spread all over the world, today it is south Africa that is attacking us. Tomorrow it may be Ghana or any other country. We have a duty to quickly let the world know that we won't take this nonsense from any country. Yet we possess tremendous economic power to put pressure on the south African government. Please don't feel unconcerned about these attacks on our compatriots, you can do something on your own as a private individual. Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom. The prestige of our country or what is left of it is at stake. We don't have a government that really cares about us. Therefore as individuals each of us has the economic power to put subtle pressure on South Africa by boycotting their companies here in Nigeria.
The annoying part is that many south Africans were here in Nigeria during the apartheid struggle and they were treated with dignity, the Nigerian government even paid them allowances throughout their stay here. Many were also on scholarship studying in our universities. Not to mention heavy direct financial grants which were made to the south African activist groups.
Nigerians don't deserve this kind of payback from south Africans.
MTN, DSTV, Stanbic Bank, Shoprite, Mr Price etc. all make tons of money which they repatriate 100% to South Africa and this certainly has a major beneficial impact on the south African economy. We need to let them feel the impact of loosing their income. I have taken the following steps:
1. I have boycotted all MTN transactions and I'm porting to other network.
2. I will not renew my DSTV subscription. In fact I'm porting to STARTIMES/ ACTV.
3. No more shopping at shoprite for me and my family.
4 . These actions no doubt are not convenient for me but I'm willing to bear it for the sake of this struggle.
5. We can gather at the south African embassy with placards and hold a peaceful demonstration.
6. Let the international press carry the news that Nigerians at home are doing something.
7. If we let south Africa get away with this, then expect worse things to be done to us by other countries.
Why the hate for Igbos? Is that the best way to sympathise with them? You guys should let this pple be,they struggle to mak something out of nothing and they are labeled criminals. May God 4give you
This is arrant nonsense, are these people correct at all,do they realized that their people are also residing in other countries of the world,S.A are just an ingrate.
Linda why is it that you don't post my comment? I will sue you o.
The retard may not know what you meant by Peckham
