Patience Jonathan's late foster mum to get state burial

This country! So Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, today announced state burial for Patience Jonathan's late foster mum, Mrs. Charity Francis Oba, who died in a car accident in July.

Not only is late 'Mama Sisi' getting a state burial, there are also reports that several Federal Govt ministries, state governments, and government agencies are throwing large sums of public funds into funding the burial. Mrs Oba's funeral rites, which will last three days, will start on Thursday, Oct. 31 in Okrika, Rivers state.

If they like, let them spend Billions of Dollars that will not bring her back to life. They should spend the money on the bad road that killed her. By the way, was she at anytime in the past a governor or public official to get a state burial?

By d way,why is she using her dress to wipe her tears?

The fact that they have the audacity to try this shows that the Nigerian people are failures. The entire burial should be raided and the Jonathan's should be disgraced by the people of Rivers State. How can you let people who let you live without electricity use your many to throw a lavish party?

FranZen said...

I hate to say this "just maybe after the state burial she will actually rest in peace" may God have mercy on her soul. As for the living let the dead rest in peace'' since July fa!!! Hmmmmmm

As they came to Ariaria market last week to charter 1,500 pieces of plain George wrappers for the burial. To think that there was a debate as to whether the Late Ikemba Ojukwu deserved a state burial. When will all this public waste end?

Wise One said...

Its only in Nigeria we abuse opportunities this way!

Anonymous said...

Atimes i wonder, is democracy really worth it. It is just a structure that has enabled more people to get d mandate to squander public funds on frivolities.

Anonymous said...

Good lord!

ary said...

I swear to God if this happens the Igbos need to ask Nigeria a serious question! Shey when Ojukwu died Nigeria denied him a state funeral? Who the F is Mrs Oba that she gets a state funeral? Abeg, this better not be true.

Disgusting. State funerals tend to be reserved for the sovereign—but they can also be granted to “exceptionally distinguished” commoners by order .

State burial? For what? For giving s Patence Joathan or did she contribute more to our nation? Just asking though...RIP to her.

A culture of vanity, impunity and wastefulness reminiscent of our clueless leaders.
Our education sector has grounded to a halt due to inadequate funding. Our health sector is grossly under funded. Our aviation sector has become moribund and crippled. Our power sector remains epileptic.
Yet our insane leaders bring out the drums and embark on further misappropriation of scarce developmental funds to give a state.
Nemesis will definitely catch up with all these looters. They will be uprooted and cut off one by one until we get the leadership that'll bring succour to our land.

But they won't throw in money to build roads, or sponsor scholarship programs for intelligent less privileged children, or pay the professors in the Universities, or pay workers in general,or build up to standard government schools,or sponsor PHCN so they can give us electricity,or sponsor and put together an action plan to eradicate Boko harram that has been killing us, or to build a standard medical center, or sponsor the aviation ministry to get to the root of the air mishap problems, or simply give to the poor. Instead they are using it on someone that is dead and gone... That is all.

Linda, this one small.gist full ground.go to okirika and see what is happening. All the mud houses around the late mama Sisi's house has been demolished and the owners given money to build concrete houses(for that i am happy for them cos all na dividends of democracy.food stuffs were shared to villagers,as they were asked not to come out on the day of burial hence they should stay in their different houses cook and enjoy themselves. Also, one million naira was give to each of the sub villages that make up okirika town. The fund that went into that burial and will still go into the burial is nothing to write home about. For the benefactors, they should enjoy because it is Nigeria money if they didnt give them;it will still enter into our corrupt politicians pocket. Oh! i forgot to add that within this short frame of time, hotels has sprouted up around late mama Sisi's house. MY country Nigeria!
